My partner carries the new 40S&W glocks all of the departments have been adopting as of late, it’s the first pistol that’s ever belonged to him. At least the rookie is a half decent shot, but we’re still working on it. I carry a 1911 as I have done since ‘nam. It’s always served me well and just feels right in the hand. I wouldn’t carry anything else. The department issued us a Remington 870 that has only left the cruiser once as I recall, we kicked down the door of crackhouse to rescue a little girl. >>64427615I started as a cop in 94 and we were one of the first agencies to issue the P228 with Hydra Shoks, I was able to weasel a bare bones 870 SBS, long before patrol rifles were a thing. Detectives carried the same gun. I also had a Colt Pony 380 BUG on a vest pouch. Before that came out I was gonna get an AMT 380 bc there were few smol guns that net agency criteria. Before the P228, SWAT carried S&W 659’s. The most trusty piece of gear was the MagCharger.
