where should you deploy a smoke screen?
>>
The Iraqi's used to set off their smoke and drive the other way, so I can't recommend that.
This seems to work though

To be fair to them, if you are driving as fast as the bike can go to avoid getting droned and some fucker sets the render distance to 5m, you'd probably end up crashing too when the bullshit noobtrap spawns at the end of the track that can only be avoided if you drive in one very specific place.

Serious answer: there are 2 main ways to use smoke.

The main one is dropping a thick cloud directly on the enemy to blind them to your attack. You don't use it on your own troops to give concealment because that would highlight them against it (which is why movies like to do it).
The other is basically obsolete today, although I suppose you could use it in some weird case like indirect fire with GPMGs: create a very thin haze of smoke over a wide area like a port to obscure your troops. This is the WW2 era use. It was very effective against the dumb bombs and propellor planes of the time and became a mandatory part of the military textbooks because it reduced enemy hit rates by up to 20-30%.

I thought the main use for smoke these days was obscuring IR for armored vehicles. That's why they use WP for it still so much, the smoke it makes blocks IR very well

>german in Verdun start spamming explosives in one area of a fort

There is a documentary called Enemy at the Gates that you should watch
>>
>>64432753
There's a few stories of enemy soldiers over the various wars doing an eat & run in enemy chow lines. There was an incident or two in Korea of starving Chinese soldiers passing off as South Koreans. Or so legend goes. M*A*S*H did an episode on it, supposedly based on real events.

They get no training worth shit, there's no living memory in the Russian military for that sort of stuff and the people who should be explaining and enforcing correct field practice would usually be NCO's, which are practically extinct for all purposes. As well as junior officers, who ain't no fucking way going near the front lines!

Just look at the watermark. It's Rusich, one of the (failing) Azov-wannabe groups on the Russian side. Although its probably a matter of time until they get Motorola's for having "Sich" in their name which is purely Ukrainian.

WP smoke by itself isn't IR opaque. It requires further ritual voodoo magicks from the MIC priests in their tchno-temples to obscure thermals.

WP is just a very, very good source of smoke by itself, and they add onto that with additives, be it dyes for marine fun-time or chaff to cuck thermals.

What the other guy said. They go through people so fast there's very little institutional learning going on and any knowledge accrual is very slow and bloody. Doesn't help that Pootpoot sent in the instructors and military college staff into the war during the first summer.

Turkish Brigade soldiers massacred South Korean soldiers, mistaking them for Chinese, before the battle of Wawon.

South Koreans got bayoneted and clubbed to death by Turks.

Capture of Fort Douaumont. This was like three days into the Battle of Verdun. The old fort was undermanned and expected to get smashed by german siege artillery, so the small garrisson was already preparing to evacuate it. A german reconaissance party had closed in on it, one NCO decided to try and go in after it seemed deserted. Guy found part of the garrisson crew having breakfast, locked them all into a side room and then just sat down and ate their food.

IN the end, the fort was seized withotu a shot fired, which turned out to have been a real problem for the french because it turned out the thing was way less vulnerable to heavy artillery than they had expected. All in all, it took the French something like 100,000 casualties across various attempts to finally take it back.

>Apparently some of the soldiers tried to heat coffee using flamethrower fuel, which proved to be too flammable and spread to shells which were without caution placed right next to such environments.

>A firestorm ripped through the fort, killing hundreds of soldiers instantly, including the 12th Grenadiers regimental staff.

>Some of the 1,800 wounded and soot-blackened survivors attempting to escape from the inferno were mistaken for French colonial infantry and were fired upon by their comrades; 679 German soldiers perished in this fire.
