Why did it fail?
Melts in your hands, not in your mouth.
>over 30 years of service>failedSounds like the average life expectancy for a service rifle
>>64433141plastic fantastic ... more like mcdonalds toy !!! my mini 14 doesnt melt ... unlike nazi junk-Bob
>>64433141what blew up?
>>64433250The g36's receiver
>>64433141It didn't.The soldiers in question used after market barrels and the ammo was faulty.Von der Leyen smelled money and wanted to make a quick deal with Saudi owned Haenel. End of story.
>>64433141It didn't. It saw international service for three decades and even got a clone.
Coolest gun ever.
>>64433141sorry wrong pic
Just look at that trunnion and how it is embedded into the rifle and tell me there isn't a problem. Most Bundeswehr soldiers didn't have a problem cause they weren't even competent enough (i.e. they are not good at shooting) to evaluate this issueMe and some other dudes (conscripts) had administration duty at a summer range day so we were the last in line to fullfil our mandatory exercises. The rifles were shot all day long while lying in the sun between runs.We weren't hitting man sized targets from a supported position at 150m and were wondering what the fuck was going on, cause at the last exercise some weeks before we had a hit rate of 100%That was in 2007. Years later it dawned to me what was happening.
>>64433351>t.seething broke bitch
>>64433401That doesn't even make sense
>>64433141it's not that it failedit's just that the AR succeeded too muchcan't beat the economics of modularity & part standardizationit makes any other gun within the platform a niche gun
>>64433426It was inevitable. France, Netherlands and Norway adopted the 416, Germany had to follow. It was the most logical choice.I'm still holding out for the 433 but since no one seems interested in it, I have a feeling it'll be an absolute stillbirth if they don't just scrap it outright.
>>64433280>Saudi owned Haeneldidn't know that
>>64433141>make weapon designed around operating on cold environment >ships it to a hot environment>it melts
What do you mean "failed"?The whole premise of that question is wrong, it didn't fail. Just because something doesn't get to have the lifespan of an AR-15 doesn't mean that it failed. Coming up on 30 years of service with military and law enforcement agencies around the world, still available in the H&K catalogue.
>>64433141They'd sell out immediately if they came to the US market, even if they were $10,000+.
>>64433569it failed because HK doesnt sell it to me
>>64433256Never happened
>>64433322Peak rental airsofter
>>64433351cool story, bro
>>64433451Netherlands uses Diemaco C7s and C8s
>>64433141Built in optics are dated. Lack of ability to mount modern attachments (coti, lam)
>>64434085The optics allow you to reliably hit targets at 250m.
>>64434095That's not saying much.
>>64434085That’s not true at all, just take the carry handle off and put a rail on, the fore end has slots for rails. You can even swap the magwell by pulling a pin and swapping in a new section that takes AR mags.>>64434095I was able to easily pull off shots out to 600yds with just a red dot and one.
>>64433143
>>64434068sigger Kochpe
>>64433141>W'ere making a near future story and need a rifle for the megacorp security goons>HK has already dropped off a crate of G36s
>>64434095>oh my science 250m it's a sniper rifle!you haven't used those dogshit integrated optics, have you?
>>64433141I think some British police use these for whatever reason
>>64433141>FailedIt looks cool, it was adopted, and it lasted until it was time to replace it with a new gun. It was never as bad as the SA80 or M16A1. I wouldn't call it good even for its day, but in what sense did it fail?
i have one

>>64434099>>64434522What's the average engagement distance in Ukraine or Gaza for infantry?

>>64435029>m16a1>bad
Was it a thing really, or just some boomer fudd meme lore?
>>64433141>failIt was fine. Did its job acceptably for decades. It wasn’t some spectacular innovation, nor was it as ubiquitous as the AR15.
>>64434415Based and F.E.A.R. pilledAt least it's one franchise where thid happened
>>64435157>No timestampYou got that from google didn't you?
>>64435166It doesn't matter what the average engagement distance is. Being able to consistently hit targets out to 250m is at best, the bare minimum expectation. I expect irons to be able to do that, easily. Integrated optics just suck.
>>64435270Delusional

>>64433351Here's another shot of that same trunnion.
>>64433351>>64435721FFS forgot the image-
>>64435725yeah and guess what HK makes that trunnion out out of? GROCERY STORE BAG PLASTIC
>>64435734GERMAN grocery store bag plastic. So it's extra special.
>>64434415Equilibrium kino
>>64433351>>64435725What is this supposed to prove exactly? It's a brand new trunnion and the distortion on the plastic is from cutting it
>>64436255it proves hes poor and seething
>>64433141It was actually a fairly popular option for American PDs until ARs became more ubiquitous and affordable. G36s were more affordable for law enforcement agencies (or similar in price) than a proven AR back during the late 90s-early 2000s. GWOT vets trained on the M16/M4 coming back to serve in law enforcement and the influx of companies investing in the AR and essentially perfecting the platform pretty much killed it stateside.
>>64436525It must be challenging being you
>>64433280Don't you make VdL like, the acting CEO of the whole EU in reward?
>>64433141>>64433327>lets spend billions rearming the entire army with this new rifle in the same caliber with the same capabilities becauseMake it make sense. Same thing with swapping out the M9. So they can have a modular gun and swap out the grip and slide lengths on the same gun? That only makes sense for a civilian who, for some reason, won’t buy two pistols but will spend the same amount of money on parts to convert one pistol into two different pistols. Is it just so the pistol can be 3 ounces lighter? Because that would be retarded.
>>64436576>perfecting the platformThe platform was perfect fifty years ago. The hell do you mean by perfecting, putting rails on it?
>>64433141buttfuck ugly as shit
>>64436255Another, just for you.
>>64436899Companies perfected the art of advertising, nothing pays better than selling a product that immediately needs 1k+ worth of upgrades (minimum) to work
>>64436989>here's a part that's perfectly fineOkay?
>>64436899Standarizing things that were around since the 70s and should have been implemented in the 90s but institutional inertia kept at bay>monolithic upper with free floated barrel>barrel profile that isn't aids>fold down irons not attached to gas block>multi position collapsing stock as standard>1:7 chrome lined barrel>optic options that arent ass
>>64435298Like was the DDR AK bayo ever meant to be the G36 bayonet?
>>64435298Yes, I used to own one. Sold it as part of a package deal with one of my 36s. >>64433351As someone who has owned multiple G36 K and E builds, the trunnion isn’t the issue. Not once have I ever been able to replicate the Afghan complaints, even after F/A dumping a few hundred rounds. What IS a valid complaint is the handguard lug position potentially putting pressure on the trunnion area when resting it on a barricade or whatever. I haven't tested that theory yet. If it winds up being true, then that means it’ll behave like any non-free-floated rifle. In addition, the way the optics package/top rails slide on and clamp to the receiver is fucking untrustworthy. I know why they did it that way, but it will never match something like a flat-top AR. And with the insanely cheap construction of the old Hensoldt optics (literal airsoft tier where the optic tube is just pushed slightly in the housing by the adjustment screws like it’s the ‘40s), I would never ever trust a G36 optic or rail to hold a zero. Which is frustrating, because it’s one of the nicest service rifles out there to hold and shoot and clean and maintain. It’s just that the shit receiver mounting setup lets it down.
>>64437987I love AKM bayo and the 2005 aesthetics of cod4 and airsoft.
>>64437987Didn't the last version with the extra long flat rail top fix this
>>64433351The problem about this (originally Afghanistan) story is that it's been circulating for years with slight variations, the same exact picture and universal bullshit.7/10 bait thoughbeit
>>64436899>M4 feed ramps>increased buffer weight>constant curve magazines (such as Pmag)>anti-tilt followers>lower reinforcement in the buffer tower area>lower receiver fencing>up and down plastic handguard parts are symmetrical and can be interchanged while the triangular handguards required a left and right part>crane o-ring to increase extractor tensionThe platform got a lot of upgrades even if you aren't looking to accessorize.
>>64437987Isn't there also the issue of handguards not holding zero and thus precluding the use of IR lasers?
>>64438324From what I understand the flat top rail still dovetails into the plastic receiver.
>>64438036So do I. AKM bato good. ‘90s/‘2000 aesthetics good. G36 also good, just has some issues relating to the rail. And the mags are fat. >>64438571I assume so? I haven’t tested that. Perhaps that’s why HKey handguards have that big extension finger that sticks toward the trunnion. I don’t know, I’m not paying money for an inferior mounting solution I don’t need. >>64438324The only way to fix the top rail issue would be to mould it into the receiver. The newest top rails are like this. They fit nice with way less side to side play than the Hensoldt package, but still, never going to be as good as a simple flat top AR. Unless you mean the weird B&T gooseneck rail, which looks hot except for that stupid gooseneck.
>>64438646what about the kac buis rail
>>64438654I think they’re the most horrifically ugly option and wouldn’t take one for free.
>>64438646Have you got some BW Gewehr sex und dreisich pouches for the Koppeltragesystem neun und fünfsig? Haven't seen those in the market ever. I only have Gevehr drei pouches.fuck the 4mb limit
>>64438672I had a complete rig similar to yours I bought locally. I don’t know what the Germ names were. Had some custom G36 dual mag pouches made too, but they were way too fat for my taste. Like using quad AR pouches.
>>64438750Is google or something other. I have onlly kts95 with G3 pouches. Airsoft stanag mags fit in G3 pouche, I find out. Hei mä lennän taas...
