Suppose you accidentally clean your gun with a degreaser. How do you unfuck yourself in that situation?
>>
>>64433574
take it apart completely, wipe it bone dry reassemble with CLP
>>
>>64433574
Just... regrease it? If it's stripped of lubricant, that just means you can dry it and re-apply.
>>
>>64433574
wd-40 is not a degreaser
>>
>>64433574
>Accidentally
Whut? I regularly use degreasers for gun cleaning.

>How do you unfuck yourself in that situation?
There's nothing "fucked" about it. If the gun isn't lubed, then lube it, Einstein.

>>64433618
It's funny how people are retarded about that. You'd think it was obvious that its purpose is displacing water.
>>
>>64433618
>wd-40 is not a degreaser
wd-40 is nothing. wd-40 is everything. Schrödinger's petroleum product.
>>
>>64433574
wd40 is a very fun pocket flamethrower btw
>>
>>64433631
>>64433640
it literally is
its kerosene, naphtha and parrafin wax
wax is not grease
kerosene and naphtha break down grease
>>
>>64433954
>kerosene and naphtha break down grease
Yes, but not very well, which is why describing WD-40 as a degreaser is silly. Something like acetone, TCE, or lighter hydrocarbons than naptha are far more effective.

>and parrafin wax
Lolno. why do you parrot bullshit when this is so easy to look up?

WD40 doesn't really degrease much, so I'd say use an actual degreaser instead, and then apply new grease or oil, depending on what the gun wants (Garands prefer grease over oil, for instance).

Couldn't be more self explanatory.
Also, Mobile 1 for lube.

There should be norhing left, repeat until it's invisible.
>>
Literally the same exact fix for every gun issue ever: generous application of CLP, several hand cycles, wipe down.
>>
>>64433574
You're not fucked, you're just doing a deep cleaning. Wash out the degreaser and dry with cloth and air. Then apply fresh grease. You really should be doing this every couple thousand rounds anyway. Grease likes to "collect" dust and debris.
>>64433618
Yeah, that's weird but not the craziest use of WD-40
>>

Tried to waterproof my shoes with WD-40 once. In hindsight, I'm surprised I didn't fall.
>>
>>64433574
it's not a degreaser, you're a fucking moron
>>
>>64433574
>accidentally degrease
>what do?
Regrease, duh. Oil the whole thing, saturate it with oil, and wipe it off with a towel until it doesn't leave your hands oily any more. Don't get oil on the wood or plastic. Aluminum (ie. AR upper/lower) doesn't need oil but it can make anodizing look darker and nicer.

>>64433974
NTA but IIRC they did change the formula in the past few years so it may be different if you looked at a 2020 MSDS. The new stuff does smell different if I remember right which is disappointing as WD40 has a distinct smell. It's like 50% of the reason I want to use it. I have a small hoard of the old stuff which I add to when I find it cheap.

>>64437309
Rather than turning your shoes into an oil slick, I'd try paraffin wax, mink oil (for leather), a mix of silicone & naphtha, or if you're feeling adventurous, maybe hot glue. I'm heavily considering the last one as repair for rips or wear involves little more than a heat gun and maybe additional application. Sticks to itself and can be melted over and over so damage isn't a big deal. Also my boots are kinda coming apart so I should say fuck it and experiment anyways.

Give it a good scrubbing with Hopps #9 or any other bore cleaner. I know from experience because a gangbanger I once had as a neighbor once paid me $20 to fix his gun he bought from off the streets. The previous owner thought he could oil it up with WD-40 so the entire inside was coated in it and had turned into sticky jelly. The gun couldn't even cycle properly and he'd have to manually eject the spent casing and cycle in the next round while the syrupy mass inside the gun tried to stop him.
I took apart the entire gun and then took a tooth brush and dipped it in Hopps #9 and managed to scrub all that crap off everything. I then reoiled the gun with proper gun lube and had that gun working as smooth as glass afterwards. It takes no longer than a full tear down cleaning routine like you'd do when trying to get cosmolean out of your gun.

Co-worker got his brake pads and rotors changed. It started squeaking so he went back to the mechanic. The mechanic told him to apply WD-40 to his rotors/brakes.

Mind you, mechanic only verbally told him to do so. The mechanic didn't do it himself as that would have been attempted murder.

I once sprayed it straight in my mouth to impress a girl. Noting cool happened except I couldn't walk up or down stairs for 2,5 days. Like as soon as I started going I just lost my balance and couldn't get up again, I had to crawl on all fours or hold the railing real tight with both hands. Two months later I got the girl pregnant, so I'm happy with the outcome
