Does modern tank armor break like ceramic plates do if you hit It with and adequate caliber?
>>64437853Sorta? Silicon and boron carbides are tougher than clay. It's kinda like how both aluminum and steel can bend with enough torque but steel needs a lot more effort. KNOWING THIS, ceramic armor is layered and often segmented so that a single broken plate doesn't compromise the entire tank.
>>64437853>>64437893Modern tank armor doesn't use ceramics. They use getto armor.
>>64437954That's just what we export to other countries. Native forces get the real deal.
>>64437970there is no real deal
The defensive concept of creating a hardened/carburized super-hardened layer to shatter the shell on impact had become obsolete with the addition of hard caps to AP shells.
>>64437985>it came to me in a dream
>>64437985Cope
>>64437985Are you really claiming that there's no ceramic armor for tanks when we've got ceramic armor for infantry?
>>64438090The real deal is depleted uranium
>>64438094Only for the turret cheeks. It's good shit but it's also super dense.
>>64438090Maybe on Leclerc.Abrams/Challenger/Leo 2 use scrapmetal/resin NERA sandwiches.
easier to just simply throw paint on the tank
How heavy would this need to be to stop an Abrams?
