Which is the best shotgun for home defense?

Any that's not from Turkey, one that you can afford, and one that you train with.

That they’re cool and badass?
>>

>That they’re cool and badass?
If that were really the case you wouldn't need "home defense" as an excuse to buy one.

Stop rationalizing and just buy what you think is cool.
>>
>>64441250
Kel Tec KSG.

Really anything but a semi auto, turkshit, or Mossberg, all are unreliable. Yes Mossbergs are less reliable than a Kel Tec which is what I recommend because it's shorter and easier to maneuver and higher capacity.
>>
>>64441300
>Stop rationalizing and just buy what you think is cool.
I'm all for that, but it's not like a shotgun can't fulfill the home defense role just fine while still being fun for all sorts of other things. If you're a poorfag (which is usually why someone wants a shotgun for HD, let's be real) who wants the most gun for the least money you can do way worse than a 12 gauge.

Berretta 1301 or Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol

Both are semi-auto shotguns. 1301 is more expensive by a good $700. A300 will set you back ~$1K, too; shoots a bit rougher from what I understand, but I own neither (I'm looking into buying one, cuz I want a 12ga).

Prefer something like this so I don't fuck up and short stroke a pump action that a pump shotgun would require.

A mosshit has broken on me, a kel tec has not. You're not even gonna put it through a single class so stfu. It will do fine for your 2 lifetime range trips and 1/7,500 chance of home invasion (per chatgpt).

You are never going to Jail or probably having a prosecutor try to start a case against you. It's the best bet. If you don't get it done in 2 then go grab your AR15.
>>
>>64441277
shotguns are not bad for home defense. they create a shit ton of wound tracks in someone's body with one trigger pull. 9 pellets of 00 buck, 15 pellets of #1 buck, or 27 pellets of #4 buck is going to seriously fuck someone up, likely even more than a rifle round. they will spread out inside the body and wreak all sorts of havoc
>>
>>64441250
wtf is this real
>>
>>64441250
Shotguns are fine for home defense. They are close combat tools. 00 buck rips chunks of a human. 1oz slugs leave a big fucking hole.
That said, shotguns jam. Insert random arguments and claims to the contrary. They fucking do. Ive seen it hunting. Ive seen it in autos. Ive seen it in all shotguns. A pump action with dual rails well built is the best option for a shotgun. You can force it. Yes you see spec ops and po po swat teams with autos. But they aren't fucking great. And its a breaching/task position specific tool. They have a literal team with them, a pistol and other things at there disposal.
You will butt fucking naked in the dark, alone, tired, confused, listening to a nagging bitch behind you stumble fucking your way to the noises in the kitchen. Shit happens. A dual rail pump makes sure you aren't adding more.

And you plan on running your lel kek in a class?
>>
>>64443426
You've never taken a building clearing course if you think a long ass grandpa stock shotgun is good for indoors. I'll take the bullpup. The M&P12 is a much better version of the KSG, but it's ugly and expensive.

>>64443454
A few people did including a fat Mexican lady. They did ok, she kept short stroking it though. The KS7 is reportedly less hard to rack because it doesn't have 2 tubes.

Turkshit broke, no surprise. The Tavor12 was the worst, and a few Mossbergs broke. All were because the pump is loose and moves the pump bars which meet with the shell stop bars and bend them. Depending on which way they bend, your shells will all fall out or not feed at all, resulting in a single shot shotgun you have to feed every shot into the chamber to shoot, and a very difficult to actuate pump until you uncross those pump bars which will be grinding against the shell stop bars. This happened to a few people because you're racking quickly trying to get through courses of fire or close call building clearing scenarios. When you rack it under stress you end up bending bars due to the loose pumps Mossbergs are notorious for. Remington fixed this issue by making the shell stop bars more robust. I already did a more detailed write-up on this.

https://desuarchive.org/k/thread/61463460/#61466051

If this happens you can never bend those bars to be true again, they have to be at a very precise curvature. Not even sure how they achieve this at the factory, it has to be precise down to a millimeter to function without grinding or feeding issues once it's been bent. Or just don't get a shotgun with such a shit design.

we all live in shitholes, anon
>>
>>64443650
Clearing and defending are two entirely different worlds anon. What you learn in MOUT or CQC military or police geared training is not the same as home defense.
Defense is geared around training you hopefully have specific to reacting to none entry points and specific areas of high importance. While there is certainly a crossover in skills, its not remotely the same. Home defense is in a broad sense closer to gorilla warfare while MOUT/cqc training is more "traditional" if you will.
A long shotgun is much less of a hindrance than you seem to suggest in your post, as it pertains to HD.
>>
>>64441359
I dunno. My semi auto florida saiga has never had a problem other than the stock mags being shit.
>>
>>64443768
Then get a fuckin 6 foot long musket. You won't, you'll get as short a barrel shotgun or rifle as possible. I'll just get an even shorter one that doesn't compromise performance and has exceptional maneuverability. A bullpup.
>>
>>64443782
You have to argue for your point if you think you have one anon. You are not stacked four deep clearing rooms and hallways in home defense. While there are situations where you will be moving its not the same. More often than not you are an ambush predator watching an entry way. Its just not the same. Home defense can be very easily done with a hunting rifle, full size shotgun ect. I would venture a guess that an under over or side by side 12 gauge would be more than enough for most home defense situations. The vast majority of break ins or home invasions are for money. Cash. Valuables. People do not tend to hang around when the first guy through the door gets his cantaloupe cratered by 00 buck from a naked guy cowering behind a fart stained couch with the sounds of some nag in the background yelling to turn out the fucking light.

I don't own a Remington, I'm just pointing out they have a better design than mossbreak since people always compare the two.

I explained exactly what failed on the shartsberg 500 and why, and what I would've wanted to have when going through multiple shotgun courses over the course of a 2 day intensive. Multiple people had the kel tec and it did fine. Multiple people had their mossbergs break and it was the same issue. Read the fucking archived post, mainly the end where you can google "mossberg shells stuck" or "mossberg shells won't stay in magazine" and you get hundreds of results of people complaining about it on forums. Then google "Remington shells not loading" or "shells not staying in magazine" and find nearly nothing.

YOUR CHEAP GUN IS SHIT, THIS IS OBJECTIVE FACT. IT FAILED ME AND IT WILL FAIL YOU TOO.

Personally I, and anyone else, would've had a much easier time clearing those courses with a dual magazine so they have to reload less and perform less shell switching drills (something your notraining ass has never even done or heard of) and the pistol grip would've saved my wrist and allowed me to use more shouldered loading techniques. The bullpup design would've helped with the room clearing. Yeah I would take that over a shitsberg grandpa gun. The M&P12 is a huge improvement on the KSG so get that if you wanna blow the extra money.
>>
>>64441269
I live in a million dollar home in florida and I've had to point a shotgun at some guys who were trying to break into my home. An alligator lives in my backyard, and except for youths smoking pot in all the parks it's great here.

>>
>>64444076
Most failure by bending or breaking parts from hard racking happens in shotguns that have a single arm on the action slide tube assembly. The mossberg has dual arms and is notorious for being able to continue to function under adverse conditions. The Remington 870 also has dual "action bars".
>>m&p
Heavy over complicated jam factory. Shit choice.
>>Ksg
Holy fucking shit you just watched John wick and rolled with it didn't you? That thing is the biggest pile of shit in the shotgun world. Issues? Fucking everything. You would be better off shooting yourself in a home invasion as that first shot is the only reliable one you are getting.
I don't think you have actually used a shotgun.
As a bonus the browning bps also used dual arms.
You see faggot the thing is all those shotguns mentioned that have dual arm pumps evolved because to men in swamps and fields, in the rain snow and mud, dust and dirt, running dirty old and mixed types and leingth ammunition racking hard under pressure and excitement.
>>
>>64441250
HOLY FUCK, is that cat ok?
>>
>>64444076
Honestly, i straight up do not believe you ever went to a 2 day shotgun course and witnessed multiple mossberg 500s fail while the ksg came out on top. I believe this to be a purely fictional event.
>>
>>64444910
Dual shell stops means 2 failure points, and both of them need to be exactly bent for them to function properly.

>>64445687
Yep and I had to finish with a rental 870 that the old walrus boomer claimed were unbreakable. But when you get tossed a 15+ year old whore of a shotgun that gets ran dirty and put away dry, and that's what they're using to replace the mossbergs that break, it says something. You can go off marketing I'm gonna go off experience.

Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 with double aught, single aught, or #1 buck
Remington 870s are good if you can get pre-Freedom Group models.
The stupid retard ITT spamming shit about the KSG is retarded and trying to get you killed. It is plastic garbage gimmick machine with more points of failure than an Italian supercar. It is difficult to use and people frequently accidentally put their hand in front of fhe muzzle and shoot their hand off. It's shit.

If cheap (and not dogshit) doubles were a thing in the US there'd be a lot of merit to this from a CYA perspective. Thing is you're not getting the $500 slick as shit sidelock ejector like you would in the UK, you're either spending thousands or getting some rough as fuck "coach gun".

For regular run of the mill invaders? I always recommend a good ol' Remington twin barreled shotty, it ain't exactly clean but it certainly gets the job done.

Not off the shelf. You have to buy a different magazine tube. If you want the OEM part it's around $300 so most people just buy an extender for the cucked tube and it'll run you about $25 instead.
