will rifle grenades have a comeback as programmable munitions?
Probably not as most rifles these days aren't build to withstand rifle grenades. Maybe if they had some kind of different ignition that didn't beat up the rifle when propelling themselves.
Pretty sure the French HK416 can still launch rifle grenades.
>>64441290probably not considering everybody has ubgl 40mm and now the whole PGS 30mm is going on
>>64441290I couldn't tell you how fucking badly I want to need to carry and organize blank rounds of ammo just to shoot a retarded piece of shit grenade off the top of a rifle
>>64441401many grenades had bullet traps so you just shoot a live round
>>64441401its been decades since thats been required
>>64441290fr*nchman detected, just let it go bro.
I think the sig pe-57 in general and as a platform to launch heavy rifle grenades to brutally fuck thick invading armor in particular is extremely sexy and gets me hard like few other weapons systems ever will. So I can go only hope that they will make a comeback
The airburst rifle rockets in BF2142 were so good, when are we getting them IRL?
>>64441509
>>64441509Those grenades were crazy. Not only did they have giant HEAT warheads, but also smoke, HE, HEFRAG, and Swiss were trained to use them as light mortars for ad-hoc fire support.
>>64444103Ad-hoc is a wildly homosexual self-stroking intelligensia use of latin.I have nothing else of value to add.>>64441290No.Not rifle launched, but maybe as a hyper expensive, proprietary launcher set up that fucks up squad maneuverability
>>64444116What kind of fucking brainlets are you associating with if you think ad hoc is fancy book larnin'?
>>64441290Unfortunately, no, probably not. Along with bayonets, paratroopers, interceptor/interdictor aircraft, and armoured trains they're far too cool and soulful for the demonic cabal that runs modern military development and procurement through their ownership of the key players in the MIC.
>>64444116>latin is gay>uses launched, expensive, proprietary, squad, maneuver which have explicit latin rootsfugg ya muddah for not giving you a 9th grade english education
People talk about the weight and recoil of rifle grenades, but most of what they're referring was designed before we had the light-AT/AV options we have now, while the normal explosive rifle grenades were fucking chunky to match. The APAV-40 (which is dual purpose) has 3x to 4x the fill weight of a 40mm but only weighs 50% more. I wonder how small and light could you make one now if you only had to match 40mm performance? Would it still beat up rifles and shooters?
