are you ready for triad dirty bomb /k/?
>>
>trying to smuggle uranium into china through russia
for what purpose? don't chinks have their own nukes?
>>
>>64444531
Selling to some third world shithole that wants uranium outside of official, easily traced channels.
>>
>>64444526
>dirty bomb
Uranium is more dangerous as a toxic heavy metal than as a radioactive material. Going through the trouble of acquiring uranium to make a dirty bomb makes no sense whatsoever.
>>
>>64444560
to begin with, is there even any weapons-grade uraniun in Georgia or is it a nothingburger that's useless without further refining other than for giving people mild radiation poisoning?
>>
>>64444531
Enriched uranium can be traced back to the exact reactor/centrifuge plant it came from based on other isotopes present as far as I know
>>
>>64444565
>weapons-grade
means nothing in the context of a dirty bomb
>>
>>64444526
As has been explained here before by myself and others, dirty bombs are a meme. A cobalt bomb would probably work but that requires a nuclear detonation, which kind of waters down the dirty effect. Uranium, plutonium, and all of that other shit are far more dangerous as heavy metals, and far more useful for nuclear purposes.
>I've heard of a way to do a quasi dirty bomb thing with po-210, but good luck stockpiling enough of it to make it worthwhile

As for this clickbait bullshit, it's a non-issue. I checked a few sources to see if we can get some specifics on the uranium involved, but no one is talking so we're left to speculate.
>depleted uranium
No good for bombs.
>pure uranium oxide
No good for bombs.
>90% enriched bomb grade u-235
Less than 10% of the amount required to make a bomb.

>>64444565
My understanding is that they have a few research reactors but without knowing the sort, I don't know what they'd need for fuel. I'd be surprised if it was highly enriched. Maybe some off the books shit left over from the Soviets?

>>64444683
Dirty bombs mean nothing in the context of a dirty bomb. They're a meme created by fiction authors and repeated by politicians to scare stupid people.
>>
>>64444683
>Vaporize 2kg of natural uranium in the middle of a city
>Inhabitants near the blast are now 8% more likely to develop cancers in the next 30-50 years
Honestly it seems more spiteful than scary.
>>
this isn't how call of duty 4 happened
>>
>>64445139
I think that was an actual nuke.
>>
>>64444989
Never underestimate the cowardice of the average man when faced with faced with media fearmongering over even the slightest risk of death.

A dirty bomb is a shit weapon if your goal is inflicting mass casualties, but it's a great weapon for a government to use in a false-flag against their own country. Suppose the Chinese government contracted these mobsters to smuggle the uranium so that they could set off a dirty bomb in Shanghai and blame it on pro-Taiwan terrorists, then use it as their version of 9/11 to get the populace to rally behind war with Taiwan.

That's how shepherdposter will lose thirty thousand men
>>
>>64444531
It's for North Korea, they were probably North Koreans with Chinese papers
>>
>>64445323
Uranium contraband is definately something the Triads aren't above being involved in honestly
>>
>>64444973
People in the west are so scared stupid of radiation they actively let it harm society and themselves. The fact every western country isn't 95% nuclear for generation by now is so stupid. The fact that nobody has been seriously funding advanced fission and fusion projects for fifty years despite the increasingly obvious need for it has not only doomed humanity from ever getting off Earth, it's probably doomed humanity to a late rennaisance-early industrial age tech level long term.
>>
>>64445369
Unironically the result of Soviet infiltration of student protest groups in the '60's, to the point where multiple generations of liberals were taught from their youth that nuclear power is bad, even if it's literally the silver bullet that environmentalists want.
