About to buy my first, not new to guns entirely, been carrying a 1911 for ~15 years, always wanted a 10mm, always thought the colta delta elite was cool, had a birthday recently and got a stack of cash burning a hole in my pocket as winnings from a recent vegas trip (~1.5k) and found a few things after some online searching I could walk into a shop and walk out with TODAY.I know I can probably get a wider selection via gunbroker or consignment, but that I really prefer to be able to fingerfuck my potential buys first, and also want it today, or else I'll just put it off forever like I've been for the past 15 years. That being said; does anyone have any personal anecdotal experience (positive OR negative) with the following three product lines; which are what I'm going to go and touch later today (some gun stores in my area open pretty late on sundays)6inIver Johnson Eagle Xl 10mmKimber LS 10mm5inRuger, SR1911 10mmAnd I'm sure that the sig or glock 10mm is pretty good and all, but I really just want one in the 1911 form factor, so please don't reply with uhh you should totally get X instead; and also I don't want anything with an underrail, because that shit'll just be friction against a holster and I have no plans on mounting anything on it anyways
>>64444964>>always thought the colta delta elite was coolNo matter what you buy this is going to be lurking in your head. Low grade haunting you. Do yourself a favor and just get the delta elite.
no you aren't, no you wont.
>>64444994Ehh over the past decade ive fingerfucked every single local colt delta elite ive seen on consignment or at gun shows, which are mostly the same handful making the rounds; wear and tolerance issues abound. If i ever see a good one i will 100% snap it up, but am not holding my breath.
>>64445036You can get factory new off gunbroker for 1k and change. There’s no excuse
oooooooomega.
>>6444496410mm 1911s are extremely finickyDelta Elites don’t have ramped barrels so it’s “lacking” in chamber support but if you stick to 180 gr 1200 fps you should be fine. Those are pretty stout so it’s not like you’re shooting .40 but it’s not recommended to shoot the 180 gr 1300 FPS loads out of a non ramped barrel.
Ended up getting a ronin for 850. Place I was planning to go to didn't have anything that caught my interest, but some other nearby gunstore had this. A ronin wasn't even something I had in mind initially (which was a quick google search of online inventory listings at local gunstores which happened to be open today), but I was very pleasantly surprised; love the aesthetic, tolerances seem solid from messing with it a bit, price is great, looking forward to breaking this in at the range next week, very happy to add it to the family.
So I always hear 10mm 1911s beat themselves to death. Is this still true or is it fudlore? I'm getting a full size soon and not sure if I should go 10mm or 45smc/super
>>64446681yeah, they literally all explode and maim/kill the shooter.
>>64446760That's not at all what I said you disingenuous twat. I was more referring to stuff like this guy said >>64445036. People always told me the cartridge is too much for them and they wind up not working properly after serious shooting.
>>64446834nah dude, you're gonna blow your hand off and shoot your eye out with one of those things.
>>64446681they can't handle a steady diet of 10/10 loads like the old norma shit or full power buffalo bore, but they should be fine with 9/10ths loads all day as long as you don't let the springs wear out (fuddpinions vary from 1500 to 5000 rounds between recoil spring replacements, possibly longer between mainsprings)
