These Level III plates are made with UHMWPE fabrics and are Fully sealed to protect against liquids, chemicals, and other harsh elements. The plates are a standard 10"x12" size and fit in many commonly available body armor carriers. Weight:3.5 lbs, per panel. Made in the U.S.A.I've been trying to find plates for around $200 a pair. What are your thoughts on this deal?
>>64445793Thoughts are that you're a faggot for just copy pasting the object's description straight up.
These are bottom barrel all-PE plates using Chinese materials. They will lose to M855 and are not made by a reputable mfg. Consider a pair of Hesco T212s from Trex for just under $400. They cannot handle .308 threats, since they're SRTs, but will handle 5.56 including M855A1 just fine. Alternatively, Hesco 4403 for $430 a pair for full Level IV protection. Much heavier but much more comprehensive. If your ass is to the wall and you can't move much on the budget, look to LAPG, Militech, or Gilliam Technical Services. Do not go with RMA. Highcom is also shady on sizing. Steel plates are big no no.
>>64445812Well fuck. May as well /thread this
>>64445832Glad to help. The rule of thumb is that quality plates start at around $400 a pair. Anything cheaper will have a catch. Armor is shady as hell and a lot of plates north of that figure also have catches.
You provided zero information about you, or your application. I'm not sure why you expected any other sort of response.Anon was right to call you a faggot. You deserve a reddit spaced reply. And not even a real (you)

>>64445793>Level IIIKilt in da streets
>>64445866Man I gotta get around to updating that. This infographic is out of date.
>>64445935Rule of thumb is you need M855A1 defeat, non-negotiable, for "combat" plates. Lightest available is the new LSAPI at 3.5lb for a standalone medium, but the permissible backface deformation is up to 58mm versus NIJ <44mm. The Velsys PBZSA is the best overall at 4.15lb but it's $$$ (2k a set).
>>644459355.7 plastic pistol chads win again
>>64445985Fun fact, 9x19mm DM91 tungsten core will defeat Level III PE plates out of an SMG. SS190 out of a PS90 has defeated an RMA SRT plate.
>>64445989>Dick shot>Rampage!
>>64446029>whips out a DMGEAR 10x12 groin / abdominal armor pouch and a full size Hesco L210 in it.I will pulverize my cawk well before your bullets can.
>>64446035Ran a crotch plate a few times. 11/10 dick smashed riding in a hard seat on unpaved road. Totally my fetish.
>>64445957Not op but I would appreciate this since I plan to buy plates sometime soon
>>64446066Nice. Ukrainians have taken to using 8x10 Hescos as crotch or abdominal plates. If you run the huge crotch pouches on top of a "kilt" like the Jinwudun IIIA skirt the Russians use then it pads things out and your balls don't get chopped. Tacscorp makes MOLLE-hooknloop adapters that work great.
>>64446071Will get around to it. Until then, consult the supplements in the below link. Good brands are Hesco, LTC, Tencate. Stick with M855A1 "III+" or IV. SRTs not able to handle .308 are risky.https://imgur.com/a/gq-infographic-emporium-1-00-1lZ5xw6
>>64446072Need to check these out thanks. Haven't ran a dick plate since 2012. Not really wanting to, but might as well get one.
>>64446083No problem. The "Sabado" pouch accepts an 8x10 like the Ukie custom pouches, the DMGEAR XL accepts a 10x12. I can attest the DMGEAR XL is roomy enough to fit two Hesco L210s in it, so it can fit a typical Level IV plate up to about 1.18" - so a Hesco 4601 or Adept Colossus might be pushing it.
>>64446071Forgot to mention, but Adept Armor is releasing a plate called the "Archon" sometime soonish. 5.7lb 10x12. Standalone multi-hit M993 @ 3,050ft/s protection. The company has no certs and IMO they're shady... and I think there's a catch or two with it, but if it comes under $1.2k a set and keeps those specs, it'll be the dominant mid-range Level IV+ solution. XSAPI protection for a pound less total weight yes please.
>>64446177>$1.2kThats way out of my range. I think I'll have to stick with the 3411s I'm eyeballing
>>64446185Fair enough. The 3411s are rock solid and NIJ certified. If you can concede 7.62x39mm BZ API protection and active NIJ cert, the LTC 19513 is a touch lighter and still stops M80 / M855A1.
>>64446185Also forgot to mention (again, lol) that the difference in price between the 3411s and (projected) Archon is about $400. I'm going to reiterate that I think the Archon is a bit "too good to be true" but it won't be out probably until 0101.07 is out. If you save up, being able to stop tungsten core 7.62x51mm M993 versus only M855A1 / M80 at about the same weight is rather appealing, isn't it?
>>64445793I got a bunch of surp uhmwpe plates from sg for around $34 each iirc. Get temu ones if you're looking at vism, same compressed dental floss and they'll be cheaper. If you put home depot tiles on top they'll stop steel rounds a couple times.
>>64447765Those Italian surp III plates were a steal despite being 0101.03 and not stopping 7.62x39 MSC. They're quite thin and will stop almost anything the local bangers will toss at you though, including 7.62x39 lead core FMJ out of a Draco.
>>64445812Saying to buy Gilliam Technical Services over RMA is wild, there's almost no testing or actual coverage on this company and they're new. We don't know anything of their business practices besides what they claim their plates can stop. And if you blindly believe that, but shit on RMA, you're retarded
>>64447872"look to" as in look at their stuff. The 1023 has a much better test report than the 1165 where it stops 6x M2AP dropped and the RMA evidentially cannot stop any dropped. That's important. RMA does not have certs on their recent models and Buff's testing for them is questionable. See 1165 and 1192.>>64447765I think the temu plates are going to end in disaster only because of quality control or the lack thereof. No accocuntability if they sell you crap.
Has anyone ever tested on video different plates and the effect passthroughs have on gel.
>>64447765Thats what I have sitting in my white trash rig
>>64447765>>64447834>>64448699Bangers these days, if social media indicates anything, are gravitating towards ARPs with green tips. M855 will likely trash these plates even at lower velocity, especially since they can't stop even 7.62x39 MSC. If you need to stop M855 you'll need to look at something else.Sadly, the bargain basement armor arena is twice as shady as the rest of armor, so it's difficult to get a free lunch so to speak.
>>64445793HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE)>melted down and recast MILK BOTTLE AND SODA BOTTLE CAPS$0.003 PER 1KG BLOCKYou're welcome, nigga.

>>64448939Layer some SILK hankerchiefs in there and get a laminated armor plate you'd pay $6000 for. This shit ain't complicated. You can buy envelopes and tape made from shredded KEVLAR. Throw some in. The more the merrier!
>>64448901>>64448939>>64448949Is there documentation of this actually working, and at what arreal density?
>>64449357I wouldn't even entertain the thought of melting down a plastic of unknown properties. This simple chart, top is hdpe bottom uhmwpe. The one to focus on is elongation at break, this is our rating analog for impact resistance.I guess a verified high stength hdpe, a plate 3-4x thicker would work. It's also going to weigh 3.5 to 4.5x as much aside from being 2.5 to 3 inches thick.Soda bottles of literally what hdpe rating and property? Go ahead and test it out first...
>>64449463>I wouldn't even entertain the thought of melting down a plastic of unknown properties.Where do you imagine they get UHMWPE from, bud?
>>64449463>wealthy jew will do anything to sell its overpriced recycled plastic for $200Thanks for dropping by, Mr Goldberg.
>>64449463PE plates are already an inch thick for full Level III protection. Four inches of HDPE will come out to over 10lb and won't fit in any normal carrier. A case could be made steel with a spall wrap is superior.Speaking of infographics, we need one to discuss /pfg/ armor below the often-quoted $400 a set price floor.None of the options are great, but some are better than others.
>>64449463its not just thickness, its also composition, uhmwpe armor is made of fibers that spread the force differently than a solid block of material. watching milk jug plates you see the failures just streached the material and slipped through.
homemade armor is kope end of storyU will pay money to get things WORTH moneyand u will be protected
no
>>64447765Had a lot of fun seeing plate carriers for those
No no you don't get it.All you have to do is melt down cutting boards and form them into 1/8th inch plates, and layer the 1/8th inch cutting board melts with alternating 16 guage steel, handkerchiefs, and repeat til it stops M80 ball.
>>64447872rma sucks bro
>>64448875All the bodycam vids are just switchy Glocks. Long as I stay out of the big city projects proper I should be okay.
>>64450278Probably because you can't conceal an ARP like you can a ladder. ARPs are treated like dracos and are reserved for hits. As long as tungsten core 9x19 doesn't functionally exist stateside you'll be fine. If it does then akimbo ladders will be busting Level III poly all day long.
>>64450316I have some of the Italian III+ with the pink ceramic, plus some Botach III+ that Buffman tested and proved both M80/M855 proof (albeit not much more). I think I'll be fine. Also the main reason I grabbed Botach is that they're "diverted" or ghost shift PLA supply chain stuff. Some anon had pics a long time ago.
>>64450347So aluminum oxide Italians and the Botachs. That's all good for handling basic urban threats if you only expect things to "stay simple."The downside is you lack protection against .gov and police AP threats. You'll be left wanting if things get uglier than expected. At minimum M855A1, Level IV is good but ideally you want M993. Plates of that caliber aren't traditionally sold to regular joes but that is starting to change.
