>>64456566Preface: Not American, so country-specific advice might not be applicableIs 26 too old to join? And not in a "do regulations allow it" way, but rather a "would it be TOO retarded to do it"It's still far future atm, but I'm considering joining after I (hopefully) get my master's in CS, so that I can go to OCS, and then hopefully the SOF pipeline
>>64456609Which country?
How do Navy people get porn? Do you guys just preload stuff before deployment?
>>64456787They just have gay sex with each other.
>>64456794Yeah, but outside of that? What if you need a wank and everyone else is already busy wanking someone else?
>>64456609>26Its a bit late if you're enlisting but not the worse. Commissioning that's pretty normal. In your country do you have to have a master's to commission? >>64456787External hard drive bozo, or just have your friends airdrop it to you to share.
>>64457090How much gay porn do you have on your external hard drive?
>>64457118Not really my thing. Its just a common practice. I just use my mind's eye.
>>64457123It's*
>>64457090>In your country do you have to have a master's to commission?Master's, with strict preference given to military academy graduates. And I'm pretty sure there exists an officer pipeline for NCOs but I don't have any details on how that worksIf I do join up, I'm just going to end up the resident tardwrangler throughout basic, aren't I?>>64456657Slovakia. Yes, I know, shit country with a shit military, but it's not like I have many choices if I want to jump from planes and blow shit upWhat does military intelligence work look like? Since, presumably, that's where they'd most likely try to rope me to, given my education, although if I got a choice, I'd want to go airborne infantry. Probably just desk jockey shit and staring at excel spreadsheets for the whole day, right?
>>64457281My suggestion is to learn a skill that actually helps your community and that you enjoy doing and that you can get money for, meet a nice girl and start a family, and don't join the military.
>>64457281you would do repetitive work for sure as everyone does but your work might feel more fulfilling in intel than as infantry.
>>64457281I wouldn't worry about what goes on in basic training. There's a chance, but nothing that happens there matters as long as you graduate. At least not in the U.S.
Enlisting at 18 is way better than college. Imagine spending 3 years at college and you can’t even legally drink a beer.Currently dorm living (mistake, should have got an apartment) and GI Billing it. I’m absolutely slamming freshman puss. I’m the only dude on my floor with a beard and can buy alcohol. I just tell some sorority bitch that I got a pack of Smirnoff Ice in my room, and within 30 minutes, I’m getting my dick sucked.Seriously though, I don’t see why everyone doesn’t enlist considering how gay and retarded college is for most young dudes. I think most guys imagine college is gonna be like Project X, and then they realize that nobody wants to invite some scrawny, baby-faced 18 year old to their Halloween party full of titties.
>>64457301I know that that is the rational thing to doBut I also know that if I do that, part of me will always regret having missed out on things I can't experience anywhere else.I'll have the next 60 years of my life to build a career, God knows my generation will not be retiring, but I'll only be young and able-bodied for so longWorst case scenario, I run the moment my contract expires, and I'll have "military discipline" and "leadership skills" to impress the hiring manager with
>>64457333Worst case scenario is you die in a live fire training accident or a helicopter crash.
>>64457333Do what you want. I joined the military for a job and experience I couldn't get anywhere else and wouldn't have it any other way. The sooner people pursue their own goals and interests the better (as long as its not some destructive vice).
>>64457349What if my goals and is to run a paid bot farm?
>>64457327I made the mistake of going to college before enlisting... wasn't much of a mistake. Laws are gay, I drank anyway. I powered through the gen ed bullshit so I never have to do any of that again. I avoided the mandatory vovid caccine. I was able to determine on my own that college is bullshit and a waste of time anyway.>Currently dorm living (mistake, should have got an apartment)My plan is use the GI bill in tandem with the VA loan so that I can get uncle sam to pay for my house while I get a double major. I'd say wait to do the same because the housing market is going to implode soon but I really don't know that's just my schizo prediction.
>>64457353??
>>64457353then join the russian army, maybe chinese. I heard their bot farms are really powerful maybe they can teach you a thing or two.

Is it too late for me to throw in a packet for the December supply board? should I ask about throwing one in for the February one?
>>64459315Your O recruiter is going to be the one with the schedule on when to submit by, so definitely ask them. I wouldn't count on December, but you definitely have time for February
How much work do NG officers do outside of drill?i'd like to have an actually career outside of the military.
i lied about my criminal history and lost my top secret clearance
>>64460041I'm not sure what you expected
>>64460148yeah one might say I'm something of a colossal retard
>>64460176What are you gonna do now?
>>64460192according to my recruiter, I'll redo my job list to not include TS positions if the commander approves my waiver
Occasional reminder that I regret not going Guard/Reserve after active duty. I still have no regrets about separating from active duty itself.
I'm thinking of applying for border patrol, park park ranger and forrest service law enforcement with no college degree. I just finished highschool. Would joining the marines reserve give me a leg up? Do I miss out on any benefits if I do a 5 year contract instead of 6?
>>64461111>illiterate retardYou are perfect for the marines.
>>64461111If you're fresh out of high school why not just apply now and see how it goes? If they take you right away then no need to worry about joining the service, and if not then you have time to figure out how to become a more competitive candidate.
>>64456566Is there any reason not to do the reserves for two years to see if you actually like the military before enlisting and making it a career. I was thinking about enlisting in the Coast Guard, but if I could have a main job that actually pays well and do CG Reserves is there any reason not to do that?
>>64462578yeah, the reserves are nothing like being in the real military
>>64462578(Disclaimer: I have never been in a Reserve component of any branch, but:) The Reserve is weird with benefits, probably even more so in the Coast Guard because it's not DoD. As an example, it's possible to do 20 years in the Reserve, retire, and not get the GI Bill because it requires time on active orders. Granted you'd have to be actively dodging orders to spend 20 years in the Reserve without any Title 10 time, but I've heard it happens. Whereas three years of active duty gets you basically every veteran benefit besides retirement. If you get injured while in the Reserve, you may be ineligible to transfer to active duty, whereas if you get injured badly enough on active duty you could just medically retire. Retirement pay and benefits get complicated when mixing Title 10 and 32 time, and that's a rabbit hole of an explanation I would probably fuck up if I tried. I wouldn't call it a bad idea, but yeah there are definitely reasons not to do it. Also I've never heard of a two-year Reserve contract.
Europoor hereIf I apply in the greencard lottery, get in, and then enlist in the US military, how bad will I get bullied being in my early 30's with a STEM M.Sc.?
>>64460041>>64460176>>64460199I was forecasting this since the first time you mentioned it a few threads ago.Start thinking up a new dream job.
>>64460041>>64460199I'm not sure you understand what you said. You don't get your sec clearance before joining any branch. You're still applying to join the military. You are basically pre-qualifying yourself. You only get a sec clearance in BCT/Boot Camp/whatever the hell else
>>64463528You seem smart, go Army MI and DO NOT pick any infantry jobs, they are insanely miserable.
>>64463528why are you planning on enlisting instead of commissioning with a masters?
>>64463829>inafter*sorry, I'm a retard also.
>>64463073>Retirement pay and benefits get complicated when mixing Title 10 and 32 time, and that's a rabbit hole of an explanation I would probably fuck up if I tried.Don’t worry, it’s so fucking complicated that nobody on my reserve base can explain it either. It’s fucking stupid. I’m trying to get my GI Bill, and it’s such a fucking pain in the ass.>Hey, we have 6 months of orders available. You want them?>Do they count towards my GI Bill eligibility?>I dunno.I just tell people to go active duty for 4 years now and join the reserves after if it tickles your pickle. The reserves are kind of a mindfuck sometimes.
>>64463837Nonsense. I've done both and had a blast all around. You have to have the right personality to enjoy combat arms, but if you do, a little cold and wet doesn't really bother you. Same for MI, for some people working in an air conditioned office is their dream but it drives others insane.
Is there any reason to go military instead of something like Border Patrol if you don't need the GI Bill? Seems like a better career forward with better pay.
>>64463978Which one actually protects your country?
I'm in Colorado, do I train for the PRT standards for above 5,000 ft to apply for BDCP or push my run time harder? Minimum for my age group is 15 minute 1.5mi compared to 12 minute 1.5 mi, decent difference in pace. I know train to hit as high as possible, I'm just wondering what they test for and if it'll actually translate when I go to sea level
>>64463978Border Patrol has far less variety in roles. I do honestly think that anyone who wants to get into law enforcement would be much better off joining CBP instead of becoming MP in any mil branch, but if your career objective is different, like say aircraft maintenance or satellite operations, you'd have a mighty tough time swinging that by joining CBP
>>64459315Not sure timeline of current boards, but get it in sooner rather than later. Last summer I put in a package, took around 4 months. I had given up on it actually and was planning to do something else. Others I have heard take up to a year. But this heavily depends on community.
imagine signing up to serve a Friend of Epstein (violent pedophile rapist) lmao
>>64463867Because I’m a foreigner so if i won the greencard lottery i could come to the US and enlist only, then get naturalized and become a citizen after a year or two.But I’m just wondering how grim spending 2-4 years in my 30’s as enlisted would be
>>64464983Fuck off we're full
not necessarily /meg/ but i thought i would ask, any europoors that have transitioned from AD to contracting?
based nasty girls
>>64463978>Is there any reason to go military instead of something like Border Patrol if you don't need the GI Bill?Lots of really nice benefits to doing at least 1 4 year contract with the military. VA Home Loan and such. Plus Border Patrol and shit like that loves hiring vets.>Seems like a better career forward with better pay.I don’t know about better pay. Enlisted pay gets a bad rap because civilians don’t know how enlisted pay works. E-5 ain’t terrible, especially with BAH.E-3 to E-4 is kinda shit, but it’s literally for 18 year old retards living in the barracks. There’s not a lot of better paying jobs you can get as an 18 year old retard than E-3.You could always enlist Air Force or Army for 4 years and go Border Patrol right after. Jobs that directly translate for that is shit nobody wants and has bonuses. Like SecFo, MP, etc.
I FUCKING LOVE RUCKINGI LOVE CARRYING LARGE HEAVY OBJECTS ON MY BACK FOR MULTIPLE MILES
>>64464983Ignore him: >>64465051To go enlisted at 30 really isn't going to be any different for you compared to any other young person. As long as you can meet the standards and you end up with a good unit you'll be ok.If you survive and make it through your term as enlisted then commission you will qualify for officer easier. If that's what you're actually ready to do then make sure you enjoy what you're doing because no one likes the bitter guy that wants his contract over already. There's always one of those fucks everywhere.

What branch will treat a 30 year old autistic retard the best? I don't need to be comfy just some respect for being older would be nice
i've been out of active duty for a year, how long do I have to join the national guard before I have to go to basic again etc?
>>64465821He's clinton, anywhere you grab IS the pussy.
Serious question that may sound retarded; what branch/MOS/NG/Reserves etc. offer the best blend of training but actually little chance to deploy/see active combat? Basically, LARP professionally. I know probably a lot of units are like this right now due to no major conflicts. So far I've come up with CG Reserve PSU, or NG SF Support.
>>64467248nobody is deploying or seeing active combat right nowif anything you have a higher chance of getting into some shit as national guard since you could end up "deployed" to chicago and having protesters accuse you of being a baby killing fascist or whatever
>>64467248I initially typed up a big thing on which people are doing anything at all but I misread your post. If you want to just do it on weekends, National Guard is the way, if you want to LARP full time I wouldn't enlist, only do it if you can commission. If you have a degree commissioning as an 11A is cool. If you have momentum you basically hit every cool guy school during your first few years with Ranger, Airborne, and Air Assault practically a given if you aren't a fuck up, and if you get into the right unit you can stack a jungle tab or mountain warfare tab on there too, throw in a packet for 18A near the end of O-2 if you are a hotshot and LARP as Big Boss . Problem with all that if war were declared you are going and you'll have the highest mortality rate as an O-1 Infantry Officer.
Taking USMC questions for the next few hours.
What's the general vibe in the military right now? Does it even matter?I'm kinda burnt out and want to try something new, thinking about joining the Army or some shit.
>>64458492I thought that was 92gfag?
>>64467248dude.and I say this with kindness in a way that your recruiter probably wont:do not fucking join the military in any capacity with the expectation you will never have to deploy or see combat especially if we switch over to war time.no, your pog or support job wont save you from deploying.no one cares that you are HR or IT, or even logistics, you are clearing that fucking building.no, you will not avoid combat as an officer or even the coast guard or space force. when it's all hands on deck its all hands on deck.join, understand that you're not free for 8 years but you can do whatever the fuck you want after your contract is over.

When the VAbux, and your GI bill bux hit while retards in the military aren't getting paid. Your best bet is to just pick any MOS, and the second you leave your AIT and get to the "real military" just start saying you're having a meltdown and will kill yourself.
