In USMC boot camp I hit every shot out to 300 and 7/10 at 500 with irons. I shot the second highest score in the company by 1 point.The DIs took rifle qual VERY seriously and competitively... so much so there may have been some betting and bribery involved. I am a good shooter but I doubt my own boot camp performance.

We used to have a really good annual quali shoot that involved proper score rings, points and targets, then everything moved to ETR, and now its braindead simple because they couldn't figure out how to add scoring rings to the target on the system, its no challenge at all.It goes like this, any hit on target counts.>10 shots on green man sized target at 300M>Move to 200m, at a jog, and into the prone, 10 shots again at single random exposures over 2 mins.>Stay at the 200m, reload, and when the target appears you fire 10 rounds in 22 seconds rapid fire>Move to the 100m, crouching position, 10 rounds, single exposures. Its a piss take and I hate it so much. People still fail this. Some of the ones we use ourselves in the sniper section as a warm-up/drill are much more interesting, but not "official"
