What constitutes being "in the gun industry." I was looking at a customer service job and my buddy said thats not really in the industry since I'm not a "decision maker." What is the consensus on what makes someone "in the industry" because I find it kind of pretentious. Also how is shot show? All I hear is how fun it is, etc etc. Is it really all that its hyped up to be?
>saying you're in the gun industry means you are>SHOT show is a waste of time for most people. Unless you're making YouTube money off it or you're someone with a lot of money (or someone who has access to a someone with a lot of money) SHOT show is a glorified flea market. A lot of the stuff there is not for sale and it never will be.

Do you also crash your car into every light pole you see and occasionally set your house on fire so that your airbags and fire extinguisher don't get dust on them?
>>64463768yes, you in particular, should slit your wrists and drive your car off a bridge
>>64459769Your buddy is a retard, if you work for a company in the industry you are in the industry. As for getting "industry admission" to events that comes down to the event organizers and your company as to who gets let in. A buddy was an maintainer at a helicopter leasing company and had no business going to industry events but his boss was cool and always asked for enough passes to get the whole company in. Other bosses will want to treat it as a holiday and go alone.

Welp this thread is thoroughly derailed. Was hoping someone could post something useful
Being in an industry is one thing but describing yourself as being in an industry is another. I kinda agree with your friend. I think it depends on the role and your professional experience. Also to what extent your role and experience relates to the industry. I dont know the specifics of the role but if I asked what you did and you said 'I work in the gun industry', and I followed up with more questions for you to answer 'customer service' I think I would, ever so slightly, think less of you compared to had you answered 'customer service...in the gun industry'.
