Can you win a Battle against an enemy with close air support?
>>64461039if the enemy already has CAS that means that you lost local air superiority and have no AA assets availablethe enemy being able to fly freely is the result of your own operation failure or their operational success, not the cause
>>64461043Yeah but like can you win a Battle though
>no air superiority>can't concentrate forcesngmi
>>64461039Sure, have more targets than they have munitions.
>>64461066unless they bring out DAS to nullify your ability to concentrate your forces and allow a defeat in detail
>>64461039Yes but with some caveats. North Vietnam defeated South Vietnam which had a superior air force for most of the war that was relied on heavily for CAS. However, they were only able to win in 1975 after canceling that advantage with fuckloads of AA and MANPADS going up against a woefully outnumbered and underequipped RVNAF, which itself was on top of technological and numerical superiority over the ARVN in most other fields. An army with Russian-style force composition, organization, and doctrine (assuming competent leadership, non-antiquated equipment, etc.) is simply not capable of defeating the disproportionately large US Air Force of Navy.
>>64461179I meant more like a third worlders military vs third worlders military.Like 1 Plane isnt going to mean shit in a conflict the scale of ww1, the US has a fuck load of planes
>>64461216That's exactly the kind of conflict where it would be possible, third world air forces are usually small and ill-equipped so the threshold to actually overcome air superiority is much lower
