Look at it. Isn't it just glorious? That big bore, that heavy bullet, that low velocity keeping concussion low, making suppression easy, and making plinking more fun. You also want to hunt medium game in the woodland (which accounts for ~90% of medium game killed in the US and Europe)? It does that too. If you want more power, it's easy: an inexpensive spring swap, thicker brass, and an extra pinch of powder will get you there. Concealed carry? Yep, it comes in subcompacts too, and with 185gr loads and a light spring you can still have a very shootable small gun.Anyone with intelligence will inevitably fail to see the need for cope like 9mm, 40, or 10mm. We have to go back. Browning did nothing wrong.
>we're just friends honey
INB4>muH CPR you are poor. stop being poor. INB4 TBIirrelevant. most of us will die in diapers.
>>64463165Apparently you can bubba load it to 250gr @ 1500fps
>>64463165Based. My favorite handgun round. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's almost as dirty as 22.
>>64463397Agreed, low pressure does have a drawback unfortunately
>>64463432>>64463397Thats what .45 super and good powders are for :>)
>>64463165The problem is there aren't that many handguns chambered in .45 ACP and the ones that are have major reliability issues (1911) or aren't produced anymore (CZ 97, S&W 4506) or they're polymer slop (Glock, HK)It actually feels as if there is some kind of conspiracy against .45 ACP by the gun industry
>>644641161911's are reliable as long as they are made to spec and the magazines are good.Legit most of the problem with 1911's comes from people trying to make them use a different action. Ramped barrels are pointless with 45acp and cause more problems and fucking around with the magazines specifically the followers and feed lips to force the 1911 to be a push feed wonder 9 with a bigger bullet has caused a lot more reliability issues than if people left JMB's design alone. In 45 look for 1911's that have a gi feed and use magazines with the dimpled steel followers and you will have no issues so long as you keep the gun clean.
>>64464156 Reliability issues in a cpntrolled feed steel frame handgun are entirely due to the extractor.Dont be a fucking Tremch Grenade tier brainlet and ypu too could have a worming .45 auto pistol.
>>64464116> It actually feels as if there is some kind of conspiracy against .45 ACP by the gun industryI’ve thought the same thing. It’s too powerful. Tyrants want to neuter the virile white man and make him a 9mm clitty onions Glock sucker.
>>64463165>>64464320>not .454 casullwhat are you, some kind of fucking pussy?>b-b-but muh capacitylearn to aim faggot
>>64464553Too much case volume for what 45 ACP can already handle. Low if any availability in automatics.
>>64463165A suppressed .45 ACP is literally the most practical gun anyone can have.
>>64464896Someone should make a modern version of this gun.A bolt action suppressed .45 ACP without all the hickups using modern materials and technology.Make it modular and have modern mounting options and I guarantee it'll eventually outsell the AR.
>>64464116You can still get new production steel framed 45s other than the 1911. Things like the Sig P220 and SAR K2 are readily available. The gun industry pushes 9mm because everything is downstream from the LEO and .mil customers which are of course influenced by NATO. 99% of normalfags who only buy one or two guns in their entire lives just gravitate to whatever is cheapest that will get the job done, which typically means they're buying a Glock 19 or some direct competitor. 45 is an enthusiast cartridge because it requires more training and trigger time to master. I wouldn't sleep on the polymer 45s however. The more modern ones use dual spring setups to tame recoil impulses surprisingly well. You can also shoot nuclear-tier loads through some of them without worrying about the frame cracking issues that you would have on steel handguns.
>>64463165>tfw 9mmlets have to expand to almost 1.5x their size just to match an fmj fuddy-five
>>64464553>what are you, some kind of fucking pussy?I have arthritis so yes I am
>>64464969Simply ignore the pain
>>64464116>major reliability issues (1911)I have no idea where people get this idea. I've had a few 1911's across different price ranges, put a few thousand rounds through them, and never a single issue with them
>>64465308I wouldn't say they have major reliability problems per se, but 1911s seem to really need a thousand rounds to smooth out any manufacturing burrs or whatever. And sometimes they need a little fitting with new springs, heaven forAlso magazines are super hit or miss. I've had GI mags that work flawless, wilson mags give me issues, and the other way around in some 1911s. It's a borderline old world gun trying to be mass manufactured. And we have a variety of different ammo that didn't exist a hundred years ago. It's like trying to rely on a P08 in a sense. I love me a 1911 too, but it has faults.
>>64465514The main issue is most 1911s are undersprungso they can shoot 185 grain standard pressure (disgusting, garbage) loads. An 18 or even 20lb recoil spring is the first mod I do after the break in and it always does wonders
>>64463165Anyone have one oh the Kahr 45s? Any opinions on them? I want to get a PM45, but I'll have to order it online and I won't get to molest it's trigger before I buy it.
>>64465514I've just never had any of these issues, not with mags (though I'm sure there are shit mags out there) and certainly not with "break in" periods. The cheaper 1911's like Rock Island and Tisas have always been better about different ammo types in my experience - but desu when it comes to 45acp I have never seen any reason to shoot anything other than 230gr ball at the range and 230gr soft point for carry
>>64465605Why soft points when you can get .83 diameter HSTs that still penetrate deeply?
>>64465641Tempting but i'll stick to my reloads a
>>64465641If only animals were made of 100% gelatin
>>64465668Gel is a consistent medium to measure penetration averages. It's not ment to simulate animals. If a bullet penetrates 10 inches and expands, while another penetrates 16 inches and expands to about the same size, you can reasonably assume that the one that penetrates 16 would be the more effective one to use on the animal you plan on hunting, all else being equal.
>>64463165>Muh soundProbably a noguns, I thought the same shit until I actually got a .45. sounds pretty much identical to 9mm regardless of load, might even be a little louder..45 is goated because BIGHOLES and that's it. Not like you'll need more ammo than what a G21 can hold anyways.>>64465605What 230gr soft points even work? Last I checked there were practically zero working soft points in handgun calibers on the market and none in .45. they in general take too much velocity to properly expand at typical handgun velocities.
>>64465674Why even bother with expanding bullets in .45? Hollow points and soft points were nothing more than a necessary evil for cartridges that sacrificed bore diameter for ballistic efficiency, magazine capacity, etc.
>>64465726Non-expanding 45 is basically expanding 380. Expanding 45 can get bigger than a 12 gauge slug.
>>64465756I have never seen it proven that expanding handgun bullets are necessarily more effective at incapacitating humans, which is the apparent claim made by people who sell them and people who promote them. Surely data exists that would prove this hypothesis, right?
>>64465786Expanding bullets have a larger frontal area. Handguns only damage what it crushes through. Having a larger frontal area means that the bullet is doing more damage as is passes through and you are also more likely to hit vital structures that would have been a near miss with an FMJ. Even if you don't hit vital structures, a wider damage track will increase bleeding, increase the rate that lungs collapse, and be more painful to increase the possibility of a psych stop. As a bonus, you don't get pass throughs as easily and reduce a chance of a lawsuit. Even without data you should be able to use logic and come to a similar conclusion, but you don't even have to do that as there is data available that you can read if you like. Those dudes that shot a shitload of goats and then wrote a report on the results for example.
Fuddy five carriers too chickenshit to carry a mouse gun.
>>64465870I'm not defending myself from mice, so I need the stoppin' power of 45 Anti Colored People.
>>64465833>Those dudes that shot a shitload of goats100% fuddlore that never actually happened. Can't believe people are still repeating this bullshit 30 fucking years later.
>>64465916Well that was just an example. You can also just go and shoot a feral hog with FMJ and shoot another one with an HST and tell us which one did more damage when you are cutting it into bacon. While you're at it, shoot one with a Lehigh XD too.
>>64465890>45 Anti Colored PeopleKek I'm getting a 45 now.
>>64465870A 22lr FRT handgun actually might be decent for self defense. I carry a CZ 75 D it holds 15+1. It could probably easily hold well over 20 22 rounds. Someone should see if it's more effective to hit someone with 1 9mm/45acp or 3-4 22lr to simulate real world shooting conditions with an FRT 22lr conceal carry
>>64463165>3.2" bulletListen up fagmunch. I do agree with the superiority of the 45ACP. But, if you're going to use a measuring device next to it, make sure it's in freedom units!
>>64463165You don't even need thicker brass for pressures north of 40ksi if you have a fully supported chamber and proper springs. Look at the Glocktalk 45 SUPER thread for an idea of the true capabilities of the cartridge.>>64464116HK is the only polymer that's not slop. The USP has been proven to handle 45 super out of the box with no issues at all where most steel frame guns will crack and glocks with factory barrels will explode>>64464918Sar k2 has been discontinued so they're drying up now>>64465641Why HSTs when black talons (ranger T) expand to an inch with good penetration?
>it's another "guys who have never even come within 50 miles of a black person espouse the benefits of .45 in terms of shooting black people" episodepic related
>>64466211>Why HSTs when black talons (ranger T)Harder to find. You can get HSTs anywhere and they are made by Federal so they will have better primers than Winchester.
>>64465695>What 230gr soft points even work?If you mean in terms of expansion idk I assume you'd need to jump up to 45 super for that. I do not care though, .45 ball is a proven man stopper, i just throw the soft points in there for ccw for appearances
>>64466246>9babby getting his feelings hurt as usualFWIW I actually do live in Memphis, but I'm an equal opportunity 45 carrier. Pic related is where I live and what I look like.
