>The Philippines is discussing further fighter jet purchases with South Korea’s KAI, per a South China Morning Post report.

>Talks follow the 2025 Seoul Aerospace Exhibition, where KAI showcased the KF-21 Boramae.

>The event (Oct 19–23 at Seoul Air Base) featured a KF-21 demo by the ROK Air Force, attended by a Philippine delegation.

>“Their combat experience is a key selling point,” said KAI’s Park Seonhee to This Week in Asia. “The Philippine Air Force operates FA-50s and recently ordered more; we’re committed to supporting them.”

>The 4.5-gen KF-21, rivaling China’s J-10 and FC-31, enters service in 2026. KAI markets it as affordable for Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

>KAI also displayed the FA-50, KUH-1 Surion, and Light Armed Helicopter. It delivered 12 FA-50s to the Philippines since 2014; 12 upgraded units were ordered this year.

>“We maintain over 85% readiness,” said ex-ROKAF colonel Daeseo Park, now with KAI. “Your FA-50 is always combat-ready.”

>Analyst Vincent Kyle Parada told This Week in Asia: “South Korean gear is reliable, cheaper than Western options, and proximity enables strong after-sales support, including tech transfers.”

What gives?

seamonkey retardation

Will be perfectly adequate for bombing some jungle insurgents.

If that's your only use case, then why not buy something cheaper and proven?
>>
>>64464494
Worst Korea will give very favorable terms. Also possibly bribes.
>>
>>64464494
They've already bought additional FA-50 for that
>>
It's genuinely so scuffed

The FC-31 is a prototype

Just shooting from the hip here, but, won't those recesses become a huge radar reflector once the missile is fired and it's left empty?
>>
They've gone the full Peru route

Their navy (the real one, not hand me downs) are all K-pop and their jet trainers are also all K-pop

Their decision making is too slow that even the Gripen line now has 150+ orders from both Ukraine and Sweden

Forget the F-16V line, they'd be far back into the queue and won't get their shit until 2030 assuming the nignogs working there won't strike

They have no balls going up against China and will most likely just use their fighter jets to bomb Muslim separatists, ceremonial fly-bys and escorting whomever is in charge as a show of force

Orange Man should have talked to their leader in Malaysia while the DEI hire should have flown to Manila and forced them to up their military expenditures to 2% or more

philippines loves talking and meeting, not buying
their politicians would rather buy luxury cars, mansions, overseas properties in first world countries rather than improve their military so china won't kick them in the nuts too much
they also have a significant pro-china population down south who are all in with the brics mindset

Flips are not Indonesians

>>64464568
Everything else about the plane is already non-stealthy
>>
>>64464617
Indonesians sign contracts for F-15s, old J-10s, Rafales, Yurofighters, slavshit

Pinoys are stuck picking between the Gripen, KF-21 and the Viper for a measly 20-40 aircraft (12 in reality because their politicians and generals have pocketed the rest of the budget)
>>
>>64464472
Wow, they haven't even bought them yet and we already got chinkoids and malayshits seething about it.
>>
>>64464472
South Korea has to make them first.

If only they can afford all of that shits.

It's been flying for years already.

They can unlike the Philippines who are still in beg mode
>>
>>64465854
Now maintaining them is another story.

Yes, all 2 of the 3 prototypes.
>>
>>64464472
How did worst korea develop domestic jet engine manufacturing capability? That's the hard part, right?
>>
Should have gone for Gripens and F-35Bs
KT-1 for basic bitch trainer and FA-50 for jet trainer
Saab AEW&Cs and whichever KC-tanker they can afford
