What are some retro-looking scopes (currently made new/old) you can put on a carry handle that'll look the part. with or without picatinny rail
Besides Armson OEG and brownells 4X.

Pro-tip about the ancient Aimpoints ,Mk3 and earlier.
They're made to take two super-obscure 1.5V batteries that are very difficult to find and usually very expensive.
But a single 3V CR-2 camera battery (common and cheap) will fit and function just fine in them, although you may have to stretch the spring in the battery compartment endcap slightly to make it work reliably, and double check the polarity during the installation.
T. Someone who found one of these things in the local gunshop bargain bin for $10. So far it has been unbelievably good, like genuinely amazing, for a first-gen red dot optic that's pushing 40 years of age.

Aimpoint 9000 can look the part. Ultradot and C-More red dots are actual retro optics that are still in production today. The Meprolight M21 has been around since the early 2000s and definitely has a bulky look to it and is built like a tank.
>>
>>64465638
With an Aimpoint Mark III, I have had good look running it with a CR123 battery with the plastic wrapper removed. But for the love of god, do not insert it with the wrapper still attached or there is a good chance you won't be able to get it out.
>>
>>64465672
>But for the love of god, do not insert it with the wrapper still attached...
Yeah, I can imagine.
The CR123 is quite a bit fatter than the original batteries that the Mk3 is built for.
The CR2 is the correct diameter, but it's slightly shorter than a stack of two original 1.5V batteries, so if you use a CR2 you'll probably want to stretch out the spring a bit to ensure that the battery won't move around too much under recoil.

Mine looked like it was plastiwelded together. That's why I got rid of it way back when, because the earphone jack for the switch came loose and vanished inside the thing. I only had about $100.00 in it, and traded it and $50.00 for a semi-functional PVS2.

Nice. The Fero Z51 is a much better scope than the PVS-2 (virtually no fish-eye) but I don't recommend anyone buy one for more than $100. The tubes they use are unobtanium.

It’s pretty fantastic for a legacy dot. I went with 6moa but may try to move down to 4-5moa. Under nvg is slightly too bright on the lowest setting to where the dot blooms a little much for my liking. My only wish is that they made a green dot.

They sold that for cops around 1982. More recently I found a smaller one the same people did for women in 1984. The message is along the lines of "how to use a flashlight to keep from being raped...and what do do if it didn't work."

Here's my attempt at something with a function of an 80s top-mounted laser, but with a modern laser-light that I don't have to worry about damaging. Using a Streamlight Protac Hlx laser since that is about the only laser that is a bit angular and half-way looks the part. I have it mounted to an Aimtech APM-7 mount which replaces one of the grip panels sort of like in Terminator 1, but with two additional mounting points so that it's a bit more sturdy. Fun as hell to shoot in an indoor range.

Here is a beamshot 1000 ultra. These seem to have been produced since the early 90s and at least into 2023. Optics Planet and Ebay still have new ones in stock which are marked with that date of manufacture. The older ones (as pictured) were meant to mount to a special trigger guard mount that was specific to your model of pistol. Then you would add your laser unit into a clamp (not so different from a scope ring) onto the trigger guard mount. The newer beamshots are still compatible with the old mounting systems, but are shipped with a newer rail-mounted clamp rather than the trigger guard version.
