should the US steal the IP for the su34 and make a navalized version with better engines?reasons 1. it has big speed, range, payload, and radar2. it's so easy to make even the russian MIC can build it under sanctions3. it would be funny 4. USG could own the design to prevent high prices
>big speed A dream is wish your heart makes ESL. That's all this is; a dream.
>>64466095who hurt you sweaty? let people enjoy things
>>64466095Do you think it's a flex to call OP an ESL when, if so, he can obviously speak in at least twice as many languages as you? are you for real my brother in christ?
>>64466121Yes.Speaking more languages is a sign of weakness.
>>64466076>no stealthinto the trash it goes
>>64466076No. The Navy is shooting for something stealthier, with a higher payload, and at minimum equivalent range to an F-35, in more or less that order. Stealth is no longer a game changing capability like it was in the 90s, it’s the price of admission to a modern battlespace. Ukraine’s air defenses are much less developed than China’s A2AD network, yet the best an Su-34 can do is huck glide bombs towards the front line from deep in Russian airspace. That won’t cut it in the Pacific and would lose us carriers if it was all we had to rely on for a “next gen” striker
>>64466076The Flunkers family is yuuuge. They're bigger than WWII heavy bombers. They have to be due to their inefficient gas and cum guzzling engines that requires a lot of on board fuel for the range required. Being this fat is a death sentence in the age of stealth and BVR.
>>64466355Jews did a number on you guys.
>>64466409>Stealth is no longer a game changing capability like it was in the 90sSo what is?>inb4 sensor fusion
>>64466076You legitimately made me vomit.
>>64466520They speak 2 languages, including one that is entirely made up. They are weaker than us.
>>64466121Speaking one language 5 years or more below your natural time-talent and another at half your age is not a flex.Would you prefer your radiologist doctor to be even less skilled and reliable than their assistant because they moonlight as a taxi driver?
>>64466076>making a worse rhino
>>64466076The super bug is like that fat ugly chick who gives amazing head and has that slip and slide pussy. She's nothing special to look at, but godamn does she fuck.
The super hornet looks awesome,.
>>64466121No one gets a prize for doing something shitty.
>>64466076It's a 1980s plane. No.
>>64466606Right now I don’t think we know, there’s a lot of theory flying around but we need a war to validate them. Right now like you said sensor fusion looks promising, as does the skynet-esque CCA swarms of the potential is as good as the pitch. Alternatively if they can actually get lasers integrated to fighters and use them to say shoot down missiles that would be a pretty huge capability leap and upend a lot of thinking in regards to magazine depth, munitions spam, and just cheap weapons in general.
>>64466121Speak English or Die
>>64466606Without exagguration; a better turn ability.
>>64466805> lasers on planeswould be cool asf but it may cross the "battleship line" when it becomes too capable and expensive to risk then why bother with that many defenses or using it at all
>>64466791og hornet was ok.super hornet looks ugly as fuck.
>>64466409Chatgpt ahh post
>>64466889I could definitely see it raising the unit cost by several million dollars but it seems like the tech is getting to the point where it is starting to be affordable to field widely. If they can get them to the point where it’s within 5-10% of total unit cost I could see a scenario where the 6th gens are over tasked because the brass is afraid to attrite the still very expensive but less capable 5th gens. I think the biggest hangup is getting the next gen engines in service that actually have the power generation capacity to supply the laser though, since without those it’s just a pipe dream.
>>64466973> engine power generation redpill me on this. how much of a bottleneck is it?>>64466894NTA both look good OG looks great
>>64466121>he can obviously speak in at least twice as many languagesYou noticeably can't, tho, OP.
>>64467157>how much of a bottleneck is it?China's 3-engine prototype is probably a good example. They want new systems and weapons, but their engines are basically Russia-tier and don't power the plane so good, even with two of them they likely can't get what they need for the equipment they want to put on the plane. Maybe that's the reason they keep dropping new testbed planes, they're trying to figure out a good configuration of equipment/engine/weapons-systems and a chassis to carry all of them.
>>64467190If you're gonna be so speculative then it's a waste of time.
>>64467193He's not wrong though. The third engine is mainly for power generation.
>>64467196You know that no source = no argument, don't you? post the source. And by source I mean something better than another speculation from the outside, an "out of 4chan" source isn't an authoritative source for being an outsider here.
>engine>
>>64467157Basically the increased power generation is what’s going to make the next gen planes next gen. IIRC every 6th gen program we have public info on considers it one of the core requirements. The F-35 has the most powerful single engine ever fitted to a fighter aircraft, but just to keep up with current power demand they are running the engine harder than spec, have funded an engine core upgrade, and are considering recompeting the PTMS system. Next generation radars have become massively more power efficient through material science advances, meaning they can provide the same performance with less power. However if fed more power than available now my understanding is that they stand to massively extend the burn through ranges for both jamming and stealth detection, while also having EW implications against current systems. Lasers have been tested in a podded configuration on some aircraft, however if power generation advances enough there is also the possibility that they may be able to be fully integrated into the airframe itself. To put it bluntly it’s the difference between justifying calling the plane 6th gen vs it just being a tailless 5th gen.
>>64467234dumb question but why cant they increase the generator size and take a hit to thrust?
>>64466076That'd just be a worse F-14
>>64467270Feeding more air to power generation and less to thrust is an option they’d just rather pay the price in dollars than in a performance hit. JSF was a 1990s competition that picked a winner in ‘01, with the F-35 first flying late in ‘06. The GE/RR alternate engine got canned in the twenty teens, while AETP was cancelled within the last couple years. So thankfully there’s about two decades of new tech they can shove in to not take that performance hit, and probably even improve it instead. However if that wasn’t the case downrating engine thrust to meet power demand would be an option if they felt the capability justified it
>>64467289better cost per flight hour tho (just assuming)>>64467296that makes sense
>>64466666Quints of truth

>>64467213You're operating from a typical midwit false premise that denies the power of intuition. Go back.
Are the Russians exporting the glide bombs too?
>>64469124whats the aerodynamic purpose of the chines? very odd wing shape
>>64467213It's an opinion based off of how fighter jets work, and the documented shortcomings of Chinese engines. There may as well be another justification for this, but it's unlikely
I am curious about the "Ferrari" F-35 Lockhead is rumored to be pitching.
>>64470377I would bet it’s just marketing speak for the ECU, AN/APG-85, and potentially Collins’ EPACS and nothing particularly special on their end. All the fancy stuff needs more electrical power and the F-35 is already maxed out there right now. We’ve already seen the 5.5th gen cope train leave the station so why wouldn’t LockMart jump on now that they’ve lost both US 6th gen competitions?
>>64470377Guess it's the Navy's NGAD since the Air Force went for Boeing and Northrop are busy with Raider
>>64471296Lockheed got the boot from F/A-XX in like February. That’s a Boeing/Northrop competition
>>64469695center of lift moves back and forth in fucky ways going from 0 to mach 3. the chines are doing a lot of the lifting at high speed and really help stability throughout the whole flight regime. helped reduce radar returns too.
>>64471492have they gone out of style or just not needed because nothing goes that fast anymore?
>>64466076The F-15EX is better in every measurable way. The FA-18 C/D is better in every measurable way. The Chinese are flying flankers which are quickly being replaced because they're obsolete.
