performatively caring too much about gun realism has made it impossible for this to exist anymore. no more dudes wearing motorcycle pads and goggles carrying stockless MP5Ks spraying from the hip.

it will be c-clamping and stuffy, unfun tactical shooting forever.

I was mulling this over recently, that all this nitpicking shit seems to be a uniquely gun autist thing. Like you dont have car youtube channels that go frame by frame nitpicking racing games or movies, like "um actually, the 2008 Kia Sorrento has tiptronic gear shifts, so the gear change sound effect is inaccurate", but for videogame reload animations or movie shootout tactics its practically a genre unto itself.

There's definitely this sort of stuff for car guys. F&F, 2F2F, and Tokyo Drift got a lot of it. The later films were so ridiculous, people stopped caring.
And films with historical context like Ford vs Ferrari or stuff with motorsports like Days of Thunder or the F1 movie get it too.

Quite possibly the most ignorant post made on /k/ this month, and its still Nov 1 here
>>
>>64471377
guns and gun knowledge always triggers that "i need to establish that im the most manly" reflex in guys, which is why people are so quick to akshuallypost about guns

>all this nitpicking shit seems to be a uniquely gun autist thing

Could this be because no other interest has spergs in it, or because you only ever interact with gun hobbyist venues to any real extent?

Idiot.
>>
>>64471377
you wouldn't last a day in the world of train or plane autism if you think gun nitpicking is in any way unique or even particularly bad
>>
>>64471377
That's not gun-exclusive.
Ever since I've gotten into Muay Thai, I started autistically NOTICING when a character in a movie/show could easily deliver a good elbow to his enemy's face and potentially gain the upper hand but doesn't because plot/tension. I could only imagine how obnoxious and joyless I could've been if I was a serious martial arts autist and not just amateur level.

>all this nitpicking shit seems to be a uniquely gun autist thing
Try volunteering at a railroad museum for a month and you will not only see exactly this kind of shit you're describing playing out repeatedly around you, but it will be in real life and completely without irony.

Hell fucking no.

>Like you dont have car youtube channels that go frame by frame nitpicking racing games or movies
Gearheads absolutely nitpick that shit. Every fandom does. I have a musician friend who will pause movies and bitch that the guitar one of the characters is playing wasn't historically accurate because Gibson never used those particular tuners on that specific model and year.

Motherfucker I was roommates with a guy in uni who was obsessed with birds and literally couldn't stop pointing out how a background bird call wasn't authentic to where the film or show was set. You are off your fucking gourd if you think only gun nerds do that kind of autismo shit.

Okay, but you understand we also stopped making movies about ninjas and karate, right?
They made a Roadhouse remake and the main character is a UFC fighter. Because hand to hand combat has been demystified, even though the average person doesn't know shit about fighting, they'll think "if this fucking ninja martial arts shit is so good, why isn't everyone who trains it a UFC champion?".
This has happened not just with weapons, which many people grew up using virtually in videogames, but gang warfare itself. People have seen CCTV or dashcam of gang warfare and it's not a bunch of bikers two steps removed from a Mad Max setting.
What I'm saying is that back in the day you could sell the audience absolute bullshit.
>>64471377
You're wrong. There's absolutely "we listed all the mistakes in this Fast & Furious racing scene" kind of content in the car world. Fighter pilots now have podcasts and they're asked by the audience to react not just to movies but even other youtube videos of people playing DCS.
Speaking of frame by frame, there's MOVIE NITPICK content so how could you miss that?
There's also shit where Krav Maga instructors or MMA coaches are asked to review movie fights and nitpick.

Tiptronic is a registered trademark of Porsche AG, so it wouldn't be found on a KIA. The 2008 KIA Sorento would instead have HiVec H-Matic.
>>
>>64471377
there's diferent levels to it though
a tv show showing brits in ww1 using the wrong type of lee enfield isnt as bad as, say, the closeup of that infamously weird ass gun from the sopranos, or shows where characters shoot handguns with zero recoil and no slide movement. if a small youtube channel can afford a gas blowback airsoft gun, so can a studio with a 7 figure budget, filmmakers are just libshits that hate guns and dont give a fuck about guns at all despite featuring them prominently in their films.
>>
>>64471146
If your movie features realism, it should be realistic.
If your movie features personal dick mounted rocket launchers while doing backflips, it has no obligation to realism.

The thing is, film makers aren't even in full control of such details.
It's all down to fuckery in regards to insurance rates, the location you rented to film at and what they allow you to do, and how many days you have to shoot because every single day costs money.
If the 7 figures were already blown on actors, the support crews, the investors and studios execs hiring their own shell companies to get money back into their pockets, etc you might end up in a situation where fuck you, you're not hiring the movie prop armory with the Gucci blank fire guns, you're gonna get rubber props and airsoft replicas AND you're not allowed to bring gas so the slide movement will be added in post. And you won't have the money left to do CGI slide movement.
A libshit that hates guns can still be a perfectionist. It just happens that these days nobody gets the blank check to be a perfectionist, and even big budget movies have been enshittified as a result.

The people that spam the hardest about fag shit online are gun-adjacent vets

I think this is why we're starting to see a resurgence in retro AR15s. Everyone was desperate to replicate some tier negative 2 VANTA black ops high speed oper8tor and now that everyone has a short barrel AR with LPVO, silencer, PEQ 15 and light hooked up to pressure pads and decked out in gucci gear furniture people are bored with it. The trend will pass eventually and some years from now people will look back with embarrassment that they were getting geared up like soldiers despite the fact that they would fail the PT test horribly.

It's not like the man on the street actually knows more now though. They just insist on the most sanitized, predictable, safe imagery for everything. They want the soldier guys to say whisky tango and use an AR-15 because that doesn't set off alarm bells in their head, not because they actually know anything about this.

Also the bullshit was frequently more fun. Every B movie is boring as hell now, with the exact same BMX gear costumes. This fucking sucks.

This was one of the things that lead to the weird gun behavior on Walking Dead. They had children on the set around guns, even USING guns. The rules on the set plus the insurance costs would have been crazy if the guns were real, or even modified blanks-only ones, so they were often just replicas and the gunfire was CGI. Thatd be all AMC needed, for Enid to get shot during a take, like Brandon Lee or something.
