In some capacity, I guess. It might looks like clownish, but the empirical design progress since 2022 makes me think it slighly increase the survivability against drone by cornering the available hit spot.

However, I'm wondering if it does not create more issues than benefical effects. How does you maintain such horror ? Does it not create more stress on the hull, opticals, rotating mechanism, ... I mean, nobody designed those things to carry the whole local junkyard.

Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. only if you are too poor to afford any other upgrade in the tech tree. yet again even wealthy western countries have no answer to hard kill drone spams. Other then passive like EW or trying to snipe the controller nests and factories with air superiority

Its SPAAGs making a comeback or bolt on autonomous turrets on existing hardware to shoot down anything that gets too close to it. But first somebody needs to experience the drone spam on their own skin before they start taking it seriously

shape charge penetration actually increases with stand-off, and a remotely detonated ATGM tier warhead will go right through the side of a tank no matter how much bullshit you weld onto it

The only way this helps is by making it harder for FPV crews to precisely target weak points. But the engine is still target-able through the rear. And FPV units just new a few remotely detonated tandem warheads to kill these

they can continue to use normal FPV drones on random infantry and motorbikes and ifvs, and buggies
>>
>>64473064
Yeah, it makes the vehicle worse at everything but surviving fpv attacks. I'm sad we haven't seen any of the thermite droppers go for these tanks.
>>
>>64473064
Depends on the shape charge geometry. Increased standoff distance beyond the minimum needed amount critically fucks conical shape charges but doesn't do anything really to bowl style EFPs.
>>
>>64473064
>>64473103
Actually none of what either of you said is the primary purpose of the wire although those are useful secondary effects. The main purpose is that many times the cables break the drone propellers before it detonates so it goes off at a bad angle.

The vast majority of turtle tanks are hunks of scrap dragged out of long-term storage which by some mirracle from god can still drive. Out of the hundred or so turtle tanks I've seen footage of, only 2-3 have actually been shown capable of firing their gun.
>>
>>64474333
yes if its impact detonated, but they are only impact detonated because they are makeshift and made in trenches

mass produced FPV will not be impact detonated and will have to be shot down
>>
>>64474600
No. This is just cope cage 3.0, it's done purely for morale purposes.
If it worked you'd have seen similar designs back in WW2 to deflect small explosives.
>>
>>64474600
No amount of crap you can weld on a tank actually slows down a warhead, these are to mitigate the warhead being pointed precisely at the weakpoints of the tank by the FPV operator

on average these tanks are actually well protected, but the FPVs are flying right into their engines grills or the back of the turret
>>
>>64474600
It might kill the drone operator with laughter?
>>
>>64474600
The entire purpose of turtle tanks is making it so FPVs with their tiny warheads that already need to aim for weakspots like the turret ring, engine bay or turret roof can't see said weakspots. I hate to give it to them, but they are damn good for that, although it seems that the puccians forgot it themselves since they started making turtle BMPs that have so little armour that a shed won't do shit to protect it. Any ATGM like Stugna-P, Javelin or NLAW will still rape the shit out of a turtle tank though. It's a min-max situation. You make yourself a lot more protected from FPVs, but your tank will now not be able to fire, meaning you don't even need to take them put with drones in the first place and can just wait for them to waltz into javelin range since the only functional weapon on them are the tracks.

Ukraine has already adapted to this too, most mechanized puccian assault now consist of a conga line with 1-5 turtle tanks with mine rollers in the front followed by regular tanks, IFVs and anything else woth an engine that they got their hands on, with Ukraine just killing the regular vehicles woth drones 4-5 km behind the front forcing the turtle tanks to either turn around or keep charging into prepared ATGM teams.

Could they not just do command detonation? SO you hover just in front of the covered weak spot, facing where you want, and then detonate. Obviously it means the operator has to slow down and hover. Also increases stand off.

yeah they could but these makeshift ones usually dont have it

We are seeing the death of the tank in real time. Tanks have been hyper optimized to deal with low angle gunfire. Over the decades we've come up with some pretty novel solutions to kill a tank and now cheap drones are the primary threat, with other tanks being afterthoughts.

Yes the US has high tech solutions but this is really a fundamental change. We can watch this war and devise solutions but there will be improvements to the drones as well. Any sort of APS can probably be defeated by standoff drones with EFPs, think a warhead from the "sensor fuzed weapon" CBU-97 but on a drone.

its not stated directly but kind of alluded to

in the game there is an area covered in dunes. exploring it reveals it used to be an airport with surrounding suburbia now completely swallowed up by the rolling dunes. The airport is buzzer HQ they use as a pantry for all the meat they drag in there. I think you can also find signs of derelict military transport with cyrillic moon runes. Kind of alluding to the buzzers being descendants from VEH DEH VEH that assaulted the airport back in the war. Then got stuck there

as for why and how then this was made back in 2015. when puccia was still widely believed in the west to be numba two military. If americans can move large troop quantities into australia nilly willy then why not vatnikstan

no they have a latch that locks from outside. But its intended function is still for ass rape. So the pyramid head tank roams around the stalled front looking for new asses to ass. A rape mobil of sorts

>>
>>64477702
You could only say that battleships were “useless” because they got fewer kills, but that’s because everything actively avoided them because they knew they’d get blown up. The US fast battleships were more useful because they could move fast enough to get some shots in, and they weren’t as fast or lightly armored as British battlecruisers which proved to be deathtraps when pitted against actual battleships. You basically use a battleship by stationing it somewhere to say, “fuck you, this is mine now” and the fuckee could rarely do anything about it.

So it does the same thing as multiple smaller ships except you don't have the option to split it up to go do different things.
>>
>>64477924
so basically useless

Jew hat.

Gulaghomo tanks are kosher.
>>
>>64478024
not if the other guy has bigger guns on more armored ships with longer range. You are looking at battleships with 20/20 hindsight in the context of the carrier revolution. what you should be thinking about is them in their heyday like battle of tsushima that dictated the progression of event for 35 years in its region and heavily influence military thinking to the highest officers

I mean it shows an increase in penetration in all but swingfire till like 40inches at whuch point they decrease, but in some it's still better than near direct impact till 100inches for fuck sake, directly disproving your claim.
