What can I do with these edition?Last thread got paged off, this is usually not a fast thread though, so what’s everyone up to?
Outgrew my old powder storage, found a 2 drawer metal filing cabinet at goodwill for 3$. So far looks like it’ll work great
>>64473660If I want to use the same lead bullets for 38 Special and 357 Magnum should I go with softer brinell or harder brinell? I don't want to have to bother with keeping 2 different batches of the same bullet. Or someone tell me the pitfalls of powdercoated bullets, do I have to worry instead about polymer fouling instead of lead fouling instead?
>>64473680I'd like one of those yellow flammable cabinets but they're pretty spendy new, maybe a used one will pop up for cheap on ebay or something
>>64475580best to try all the bullets, only your gun knows what it likes. bullet powdercoat doesn't accrete or oxidize in the bore, have no worries.
>>64475580>>64475580>>64475580depends on the velocity you plan to use duh. higher velocity will need higher hardness. who cares just use whatever is cheapest we know you arent going to load full power magnum loads anyway with those twink wrists
>>64475580Lee has a hardness tester that is ok, but the chart that comes with it is really nice.. I would say this isn’t definitive and I’d be lying if I said I made sure I had the right hardness every single time. Also most 38 special and 357 load data gives cup not psi…. But if you run quick loads or grt this might help matching things up.
>>64475626I wonder if I could slip some drywall panels in my filling cabinet…. Usually that’s the go too for fireproofing in a lot of this stuff. The explosives rated cabinets would be nice.. but at a sub 3$ price point I’m not gonna complain.
>>64475634>>64475641>>64475920I'm just worried i'm going to get too much leading shooting hardcast meant for 357 through a full power 38 special.
>>64475983you won't know until you try, and if it doesn't work then darn it you'll just have to get a .357
>>64475983Your worried the wrong way. If it’s hard enough for 357 then it’s fine for spicy 38. And honestly even if it weren’t it’s something you should look for when working up the load through a ladder and you can clean the leading out if it happens.
>>64473660I feel stupid. I completely forgot to get a new neck bushing for different brass I got so now my neck tension is 0.006” for a batch I made
Is my brass supposed to look like this after shooting?
>>64477342Self ejecting primers is an interesting feature… Do you have a go/nogo primer pocket gauge?
>>64477342IDK. Maybe?Try increasing the powder charge and see if it gets worse.
Thinking about getting back into reloading again. My brother has a setup that I used to use to reload 9mm. Main reason is that I have a MP5 with a SS and it does not like flat bullets so I might be looking into reloading 124gr that I have left around and maybe ordering 147grain round nose bullets. Pretty sure I got a bunch of bullseye left. Any powder recommendations for it? Shooting for below 1000FPS with either.
