I have a PX4 in .40 and I really don't care for the caliber... and getting the barrel/spring/mags for 9mm I may as well buy a fucking new PX4.

I think I'm just gunna trade it in for something SLIGHTLY less lorge, it's actually a nice feeling pistol but it's pretty fucking tall. I'm torn between a small semiauto of some type or a J-frame like a Bodyguard .38

ideally I just want the Jframe, and one of those Kydex trigger holsters, and a frame clip to just be as minimal as physically possible....
>>
>>64474061
I'm jelly of those people in flyover states who can shoot from their deck.
>>
>>64474070
I moved. I used to be 20 minutes from probably the best gun range in CO. I moved to NC to be closer to my brother (also because CO sucks ass now, not the same state I grew up in) and there are no outdoor ranges closer than an hour (all of which have really shitty hours or require knowing someone to vouch for you to apply), and the only decent looking indoor range requires you to buy their targets at $1-3 ea, even for members. I don't have enough land to shoot on and there's 0 bpm out uere.
>>
>>64474061
I have social anxiety, ironically the reason why I bought guns is the same reason why I can't go an shoot them.

the only way to convert a PX4 .40 to 9mm is to get a GSD barrel which are rare

or swap the slide.

Yeah I feel you
Florida sucks too as a place to shoot, one direction I'd love to go in my life is to move to a very gun friendly rocky mountain state (not UT, fuck those zealots) and be able to shoot in my property or shoot in BLM land.
Or at least buy some land in my home state and shoot there

The precision range was 1km, the steel range went out to 1.4km, there were 20 private bays, a 25 lane 100/200 yd rifle range, a 25 lane 7/10/15/25 yd pistol range, a 20 bay 50/100 yd smallbore range, twelve skeet stations, a full sporting clays course...all for $175/year. Hours were sunrise to sundown, let yourself in and out of the gate.

Any anons that live in CO check out the Colorado Rifle Club, it's amazing. https://crci.org/

I took a while to come back
I will definitely get other guns for sure, but I think I will still be stubborn and at least try to find a HP that works
I do realize that I will have to be very selective and careful on what I do get
I’ll just have to see if I either can get an good deal on an exceptionally solid original or something close, or really lucky and get a working clone for super cheap
I was looking at that Springfield at first but seems like it definitely has some issues, I’ll have to find the perfect sweet spot of versions where it’s not too old nor too new, where gun manufacturing was still solid
and again I’ll definirely replace parts so that I can have an even higher chance of things working well
I just remembered looking at my local Cabelas and it had a cool FEG that used to be Lithuanian police, it’s probably long gone sadly
Most of the originals all seem overpriced to me though
>>
>>64474317
I saw a 1911r Tacops with a threaded barrel in 45 acp with a starting bid of $799 on GB. I didn’t want to bid on it early and waited a day until it was closer to the auction end date. Fucker took it down a day early. Looked pristine too.

but yeah Im torn, I need a gun i'll actually bother to carry and I dont see myself wanting to get all holstered up to just go out to the store. I wanna pop a little kydex cover over my revoler and tuck it in my waistband

what's the best kind of holster for a like... 1-2 oclock "crook of the leg" carry? I'm just about the most average sized male on earth so even a sub-compact can be a LITTLE large to carry all the time, less "too big" and more like "just big enough to be annoying". Good evening. What's the consensus on .380 for dogs? I am torn between an LCR snub in .38 and a P-3at for a pocket/lazy carry gun. I'm mostly concerned about dogs in my area. I know Buffalo Bore makes a hardcast .380, but I'm wondering if it would be best to forego it in favor of a 38 +P hardcast

Also, a second totally unrelated question: is there any way to heal DIY stippling? I'm imagining some sort of negative mold that I can press the warmed plastic into. I was a retard and took a soldering iron to an heirloom a long time ago. Awesome texture, but it looks awful.

yeah just got it last week, put a few hundred rounds through it at the range to break it in and it handles like a dream, I've swapped it in as my new EDC and put my old auto ordinance .45 on the shelf after carrying it for 15 years. Today I got a CrossBreed Reckoning holster for it too to replace my old holster (still in the process of breaking it in, been wearing it all day). Really happy with this gun so far, just need to get some more magazines. Thinking Tripp cobras, just trying to decide between 9 or 10 rounders. I'm not realistically going to carry this thing with extra mags, so I'm ok with having the unwieldly long 10 rounders to just play with at the range.

>>
>>64474790
japanese arms industry is heavily regulated, they make some sporting arms for Winchester. They had a few domestic modern designs but none for export or civilians

If they would be allowed to make handguns they quite possibly be some of the best judging by the autism of their airsoft and replica handgun industry, despite their historic inability to make any good designs.
>>
>>64474790
Because there is no gun market in Japan
>civilians
Banned
>law enforcement
Highly doubt that they need more firepower than a 5 shot Model 10 clone to handle a wayward asshole who got fleeced in a gacha mobile game and is taking out his anger on schoolgirls.
And even if the cops wanted to upgrade, they can look to Glock, HK, Beretta, Walther, S&W, etc. for offers
>Military
The JSDF selected the VP9, case closed
So essentially you would need a 2A for Japan in order for any need to open up small arms outside of supplying domestic rifles for the JDSF.

>>64474810
It's a Glock 17 Classic, so pretty much a Gen 1 but if you're getting a Glock 17 just get a Gen 5, they're so much better
>>
>>64474790
my extremely vague and likely incorrect understanding of it from various things I heard a long time ago and probably half forgot or conflated is something along the lines of; natural resources and when they were introduced to firearms

1. natural resources; they don't fold katanas 6million times for fun, but out of necessity, iron or was historically rare and low quality in japan, i vaguely recall some historical anecdote about how after fires in their 'medieval' period, there would be mass looting of nails (after all the wood/paper houses burned down).

2. domestic firearms industry; other than WW2, which was out of force of necessity, and famous for stinkers like the nambu, they just imported stuff most of the time I think; like when they first met the portugese, or post WW2, my understanding is that the vast majority of japanese wielded firearms over time have been foreign imports. I don't think they have much of their own domestic firearms industry, and prohibitive cost of in-house RnD'ing good shit. They made some stuff, and most of it wasn't great. because the industry didn't have generations to develop. Also since there is barely a civilian market; why bother in the "modern age" to build up that industry?

that all being said, I think it's a missed business opportunity, although there's probably less than 10 people in japan who would be interested, if someone decided to start making and selling berettas or 1911s or whatever handmade by some japanese blacksmith with a million folds or some shit, I'm pretty sure there'd be plenty of americans happy to drop 4-5 grand for one
>>
>>64474829
>Glock 17 Classic
So it's new? I though Glock only made a new batch of anniversary P80s

How the actual grip and the trigger on that compared to Gen 5?
>>
>>64474790
Howa makes hunting rifles, not sure if in Japan thought, I never held one, so never saw the markings on one.
>>
>>64474839
It's essentially a Gen 5 with a lot of Gen 1 cosmetics.
The grip is slippery, I dislike the small magazine release button, and the trigger feels about the same but the Gen 5 I think is a little bit better.
Overall you're better off getting the Gen 5 with all the bells and whistles when you can

Would have been a great scene if that's how it ended but a literal 180° happened afterwards
>Casey runs for his pistol after forfeiting an opportunity to grab with the duel as a distraction
>fires it point blank but fails to even graze Jesse
These may be explained simply as the result of alcohol or narcotics but what follows is purely nonsensical
>Jesse's point shooting ability vanishes seconds after being demonstrated
>pistol empties, Jesse retreats to grab Neil's
>comically impotent exchange of fire continues until Jesse's skill returns inexplicably for him to hit Casey in the forehead

>>
>>64475117
Yes. If you can't shoot a gun with a crappy trigger like a stock Glock well, you suck and it's not the gun's fault. A magnificent glass break custom 1911 trigger is completely unnecessary and even counterproductive for anything but a range toy, and range toys are vibes guns. You wouldn't put a glassy light custom trigger in a duty or carry gun like a strikerslop compact even if you could, because it would be stupid to do so.

1911s are vibes guns, not relevant weapons, for the same reason that a 1960s E type is a vibes car, not a relevant performance car.

>i vaguely recall some historical anecdote about how after fires in their 'medieval' period, there would be mass looting of nails (after all the wood/paper houses burned down).
same was true everywhere.
we get the phrase "dead as a doornail" because doornails were rolled over or clinched on the back side of the door, making them unusable even if they were salvaged.

>I was drawn to all the wrong things: I liked to drink, I was lazy, I didn't have a god, politics, ideas, ideals. I was settled into nothingness; a kind of non-being, and I accepted it. I didn't make for an interesting person. I didn't want to be interesting, it was too hard. What I really wanted was only a soft, hazy space to live in, and to be left alone. On the other hand, when I got drunk I screamed, went crazy, got all out of hand. One kind of behavior didn't fit the other. I didn't care.

>Every once in Cabelas has a great deal. Some of their Gun Library rooms see customized Colt's as significantly de-valued. I found this one done by a late Gunsmith named Wayne Lawthorne out of Virginia. Story goes he smithed for 27 years, his friends say he was a 400lb jokester that could field strip a 1911 in minutes while setting all the parts and pieces on his belly! He died young at 59, but his legacy lives on through the guns he touched.

Pretty fucking great honestly. Absorbs recoil very well. The standard slim is a little snappy but the MM metal frame just shoots flat. Easy followups. Trigger pack on the slim elite has a very short reset. For a compact it performs on par with a larger frame competition pistol but in the compact platform

Got 3 different JD single barrel BP ryes, doing a side by side and admiring how they can all be so strangely different despite having the same juice put in the same oak barrels. Newest one on the left taste like a lemon pound cake, middle taste like red laffy taffy, then after a punch of burn it fades into maple syrup, right one is the most strange. It hits you with this nice sweetness that just disappears a half second after you drink it and takes all the flavor and alcohol burn with it. Would make a hell of a shot, sips like water after the first half second, but falls kinda flat after the other two.

A European design, the Glock 86 was designed before the Great War by an artificial intelligence named after Gaston Glock, the company's founder and most influential engineer. It is a large energy handgun, shooting a small bolt of superheated plasma generated in its magnetic housing chamber, using an internal power cell rechargeable with small energy cells. The chamber can be realigned to reduce drain on the internal energy cell and double capacity

I edc a FN 509c and have 15-16k rounds though it, I own and like my Walther PDP but probably only have 2k rounds through it, and I have shot the M&P 2.0 a lot.

They all are good, the FN is nice since the compact model comes with 3 sizes of mags which allow you to switch it from subcompact to compact to full size depending on how you are dressing that day. It has the best finish and ergos of the three, it glues your hand to the gun allowing for way faster follow up shots than the others you mentioned. The finish is so good one guy dumped his in a lake and fished it up with a magnet a year later and the only rust was on the internals.

The PDP far and away has the best stock trigger of the bunch, and you get one free optics plate of whatever footprint you want with it. It does have a snappier recoil which makes it slower to shoot, and the warranty sucked when I had a bum mag. The mags are VERY nice to load compared to the FN but especially the Smith which are legendary for having overly stiff mags.

The Smith is probably the cheapest of the three right at this moment, and has the best aftermarket. Their customer service also has a much better rep than FN or Walther, but you're more likely to need it since they can't qc for shit.

All three are good, call around and find a rental range near you that has them and offers flat fee with infinite swaps and shoot a couple mags through each. Find what YOU shoot best.

Heres a pic showing the mag concept. And I didn't mention it but the 509 hasn't had a single gun related failure in those 15-16k rounds. It chews through ammo that my buddy's CZ P10 and my own PDP struggle with.
