Yeah well the Russians got bigger dickflaps than either of us. Actually, maybe not, my DMGEAR XL is huge. Whole ass Hesco L210 in it. Just letting you know. :)

Quick and dirty "what plates should I buy on a budget?":
Level III: Hesco 3411 or LTC 19513.
Level IV: Hesco 4403.
As discussed thoroughly two threads ago, RMA is still bad. AR500's 8lb+ A4 plate is terrible. Last thread we discussed trauma pads that actually work, just not the flimsy 0.2" little shits RMA and AR500 like to sell.

How much does that impair general movement, fatigue, and ingress/egress from cars? I'm sure the extra 5lbs up front is noticeable.

I don't really notice, because I'm already carrying an extra 5 pounds between my legs anyway.

>We'll just have to wait for some plates to fall off the logi truck somewhere. I'd wager we'll see independent testing by the end of '25.
LSAPI was just awarded earlier this year and there's less than 100k of them. I bet some will show on Tacswap by Christmas.
>Yep. Second block of the >>64474275 # table: 6 hits from 10m away, with velocities within 10m/s of each other, no pen.
That's outstanding. Gives Chinesium-American plates like the 8.4lb Gilliam 8002 a run for their money. Sad part is that there's literally no known plate CONUS, civilian accessible or otherwise, that can match 6x 7N37.
>At 800m standoff, tho, you'll get bowled over, but might have a chance to get up after.
Rookie numbers. Upgrade the CAP to that third gen Capytech model you were talking about.
>to precise DMR and sniper shots. And the battle of minds continues :3
True. In theory this BR5+ should be able to stop 7N51 with reasonable (100-200m) standoff since it's just 7N37 on cialis.
>It's a plate-shaped block of 3D-printed TPE with infill made of gyroid structures. IDK if any CAD software can generate those OOTB or you need to code up a plugin for that, but once you have that, the rest is trivial.
Could be a fun project.
>That seems to be a theme ITT, as well as in Tarkov.
Well protection against actually modern tungsten ammo is always based.
>>64474518
>IIA ballistic ballcap with inane branding, anyone?
What, you don't like Cacuss 1985? Secret Chinese black ops mission into Japan, they took out the entire Tojo Clan using an 83' Corolla with 200lb C4 in the trunk.
>Essentially, a (more) segmented, wraparound dick flap-ass pad combo. Theoretically, higher mobility and better coverage than even multi-segmented dick flap designs, and easier to manufacture, at the cost of more mass, signature and ball sweat
Yeah, IMO it's sound but does add a lot of bulk.
>>
>>64474605
It's rough by itself (furious cock-slapping courtesy of HESCO) but I have it attached to a Jinwudun skirt and that actually pads it out. I have a second with another L210 to cover my ass. This balances it out. Tacscorp velcro-molle panels are how they attach.

Thing is, though:
> Trusting Russian test reports.
EVERY time /gq/ has done that in the past, we have been embarrassed. I'd wait to see results either from a US lab, a US military source or paper, or even a YouTube vid with no potential for baiting and switching.
Until then, I think it's literally retarded to take it at face value. The Russians have means and a strong motive to falsify reports in a credible-seeming way.
>>
>>64474698

>Trusting Russian test reports.
>EVERY time /gq/ has done that in the past, we have been embarrassed.
I dont think /gq/ has ever actually done that
>>
>>64474698
Well, the difference between this and the plates /gq/ and /bag/ hyped up in the past (Atlas and Hyperion) is that these numbers check out better. 7.6lb without required soft armor, or a CAP, because this is Roosia, is very heavy by modern armor standards. It's a pound and change heavier than the Colossus and more than two pounds heavier than "acceptable" VTP XSAPI weight.
Hyperions allegedly weighing under 8lb claimed to stop thirty 7.62x54R B-32M API and at least two 7N37. They had 5lb plates that claimed to eat twenty 7.62x39mm BZ API. That level of crack arresting is impossible, even for a ceramic tile array. Even LIBA plates shit the bed after 15-20 due to delam. As for Atlas, they claimed they had ~7lb plates that could stop 3x 12.7x108mm B-32 API at 50 meters, per their BR6 rating. These "2024 Granits" can only stop one at 800 meters, with soft armor AND CAP, and BFD is still sketchy. They weigh more than the Atlas plates.

Obviously Russian paperwork needs to be scrutinized - but all armor needs to be scrutinized. No company should get a free pass. I think the Ruskies are onto something with these Capytech CAPs though.
>>64474707
Propaganda warrior supreme.
>>
>>64474724
Eh yeah it happened. For a while you could buy gray market Granits (first gen 6B45 stuff) and people were hyping them up as significantly better than our NIJ Level IV. They forgot that B-32 API is actually inferior to M2AP (for a while people thought they were equals - even dudes like Apex) and Granits are "double ICW" and need both soft armor and a climate panel (heavy duty trauma pad - the thin ones typically sold CONUS won't cut it) to meet rated specs. Granted BFD is way lower with the climate panel, or "CAP."
These new "2024 Granits" are seriously impressive though assuming that test report aint forged. The Adept Colossus loses to 1x 7N37 but this sucker stops six.

kek, I remember. Back in the day, when peacetime MoD and contractors swirled in a gracious dance of budget appropriation and kickbacks. Ah, simpler times.

We DO have a soldier exoskeleton currently in commercial production, actually, completely unrelated to this clownshow. Br1\C2 armored pants with exoframe to unload your spine. With some optional extras, you can essentially hang your vest off of it, unloading your shoulders to the tune of 20-30kg.
>>
>>64474940
You absolute mad lad, how high is it riding on your belly to not slap the shit out of your thighs when you walk?
It sits just above my waist. The Jinwudun kilt thing pads it and prevents the ball slappage. Absolute no-go if you just run the thing off your carrier, that is unless you're just using a IIIA plate backer. Tried that, flips around like a motherfucker. Must be unbearable with Level IV. Reportedly Ukrainians are buying up 8x10 Hescos and using them in the smaller "Sabado" version. My DMGEAR XLs fit plates up to 1.2", so you could swing a Granit BR5+ and stop 7N37 to your dick. Run a CAP on the back of the bag and eat 12.7x108mm B-32 API from 800 meters. That sounds like fun.
Anyways, the top of the skirt where the DMGEAR XLs attach is unarmored so I have a slight "midriff gap" before the kilt meets the bottom of my carrier. I could attach the XL pouches to my TT vest but that puts way too much weight on it.
>Holy fuck, now I have to see this walking palm tree of ballistic ball slapping.

>OTOH, there's not enough 7n37 on your side of the pond to be a meaningful threat to anybody.
Yeah, but it's a mark of the future of AP ammunition and stopping it is a lot more future-proofed than Swiss P AP like the Adept Colossus. Swiss P is used by a handful of police departments.
>We'll probably see 7n51 make an appearance in the testing schedule on the next iteration of Granits.
Very good. Now two questions remain.
1. The Br5+ plates are already damn heavy for a milspec plate. Is the plan to keep going up in weight or will the mfg's turn to TiB2-SiC?
2. How about 7N49? We're at the point where a "BR5++" 7N51 (or XSAPI+++ for that matter) plate will only provide meaningful added protection against snipers. That's where .338 comes out to play.
>Maybe a webm even, as a treat.

It's the six shot per plate thing that bothers me. I think it's bullshit. Monolithic plates don't have that kind of multi-hit performance vs. AP rounds like that. Your "multi-hit capable" Hesco 4601 failed vs. the second M2AP shot, didn't it? And M2AP is small fry next to 7N39. So it would have to be some kind of LIBA-esque pellet plate, but it's not heavy enough for that.
I'm 99.99% sure that it's a doctored/fake/propaganda plate, like pretty much everything else we've seen thus far from Russia on the armor side. OR they tested 100 plates and published the only one to attain a good result - a statistical anomaly.
Also, from literally everything we've seen over the course of the war, their best gear is literally what we call "shit tier Chinesium".
>>
>>64475066
Well, it's three things that can be in play.
1. The super amazing BR5+ Granit is probably a ceramic tile array like the originals, except they switched to (a probably doped and also pretty thick) SiC from Alumina. CTAs are much better than normal monolithics multi-hit wise but eat a weight penalty.
2. Shot spacing. CTAs usually need each hit to be on a separate tile.
3. Shot placement. The 4601 did fail on the second hit, but that one anon's 4400 stopped half a dozen M2AP. Buffman abides by NIJ fair hit rules, so minimum 2" spacing within the 6x8" fair hit box. That anon basically ran the perimeter on edge hits and one lower left, IIRC. "Crown" hits in the center are the hardest on the plate.
>Monolithic plates don't have that kind of multi-hit performance vs. AP rounds like that.
Old Ceradyne and Cercom mono plates had equal or better multi-hit, against lesser threats, but they needed serious crack arresting layers. The CER-EMH could do 10x M80 with 1" spacing, Ceradyne MH3 10-12x M995 and it was 4.2lb ICW IIIA. This is most likely a CTA.
>And M2AP is small fry next to 7N39.
7N37, 7N39 is the underperforming 5.45 counterpart that gets handled by Alumina-PE BR5 plates like the Filins.
>Also, from literally everything we've seen over the course of the war, their best gear is literally what we call "shit tier Chinesium".
Yeah, we've got Ukie sources on one side showing their armor is red steel you can bend with your hands and literal cardboard fake Granits, then we've got Ruskie sources telling us 7N37-rated, nearly 8lb turbo granits are replacing standard BR5. Who to believe? Both xan be true. On one end the mobiks are getting shit, but primo units get serious armor. Seems haphazard to me.

>Now two questions remain.
We'll just have to wait and see. My guess is that these new Granits are already at upper limits of what can be considered acceptable for long-term wear, so to reach further towards Br6, they have to bust out some new chemistry. Maybe the Chinese will share the secrets of their Oriental alchemy, maybe some long-shelved research will emerge from the dusty archives of a long-disbanded research institute. Who knows? But I sincerely doubt we'll see thicker and heavier plates out of primary GI manufacturers. It's already dummy thicc.
Also, since SVCh-8.6 is officially in service, .338 AP is now also a DMR round. Nowhere to hide :3
>Check out this Level III 5lb brain bucket!
a MICH of my dreams! I've always wanted to tank a .308 with my forehead and walk it off.
Srsly tho, it's a tall claim for a PE helmet. I remember Oxide harshly criticizing mainstream PE helmets for unacceptable BFD in face of trivial threats.

>>64475030
It's only me. It's 5 AM in Moscow, I'm on the night shift and bored.

>>64475066
>Monolithic plates don't have that kind of multi-hit performance
Granit isn't monolithic, it's a segmented plate. The lighter Br4+ plate failed one of B-32 shots because it was a second hit on already shattered segment, and it's shown in the report.

Also, this isn't ad copy we're talking about. It's a report from an independent certified lab pertaining to a quality test of critical life-saving equipment. Equipment relied upon by people who won't hesitate to disappear a mofo if it somehow turns out to be faulty despite all assurances. It's actually bottom-tier classified (confidential) and y'all aren't supposed to read that.
>they tested 100 plates and published the only one to attain a good result
They tested 12 of each plate, actually, with different threats, and x-rayed 3 of them to get a good look at internal deformation under .338 and B-32 hits.
>>
>>64475179
>Maybe the Chinese will share the secrets of their Oriental alchemy
Doping SiC with TiB2 nets a pretty hefty improvement against tungsten threats, but to get to BR6 at a workable weight probably requires B4C. Do that and you will start losing to 7N37 due to WC-core induced amorphization. 12.7x108 B-32 API is steel core so that won't occur at BR6.
Word did come out about Adept Armor's attempts at Polycrystalline Diamond. 10% better than TiB2-SiC but strike face cost is ten times higher, so a 5.76lb PM-12 "Turbo Colossus" plate would definitely be on the table but it'd be $4,500 a pop easy. In other words, this BR5+ performance could be matched for under 6.5lb, but roughly $5k a plate. Average joe balks at 4601s that are 1k a set, no way that's market feasible.
>Also, since SVCh-8.6 is officially in service, .338 AP is now also a DMR round. Nowhere to hide :3
Five mags of 7N49 tungsten AP, that, and a good thermal with drone coverage sounds like a great time.
>a MICH of my dreams! I've always wanted to tank a .308 with my forehead and walk it off.

>Srsly tho, it's a tall claim for a PE helmet. I remember Oxide harshly criticizing mainstream PE helmets for unacceptable BFD in face of trivial threats.
Yeah, I'd like to see a ceramic layer on that. If it's that heavy but gets wrecked by M855 or 7N10 it has little purpose.

>the mobiks
Yeah, I have to address that.
There have been no new mobilization in Russia since that one big wave in '22. Everyone who enlisted after that, did so as a volunteer under contract, with base salary at ~4*national median. The mobilized - those of them not wounded, killed or otherwise discharged - are still in the army, but no new mobiks have been added since, despite all FUD to the contrary.

That being said, '22 mobilization was a shitshow of epic proportions. While I personally doubt that carboard replica plates showed up anywhere near the frontline, there certainly was a lot of sub-par, fake and\or inappropriate gear thrown around. A huge crowd of incompetent people, often led by equally incompetent "reserve officers", equipped as well or as poorly as situation and stores (often pilfered in the peacetime) allowed, trying not to die as hard as they can. Few of those people actually got the Granits they were supposed to be wearing.

This is, of course, completely irrelevant to the quality of actual bona-fide Granit plates or the accuracy of official test reports on it.

>>64475222
222 is actually the article in Penal Code of Russian Federation dealing with illegal firearms manufacture.

>10% better than TiB2-SiC
>$5k a plate
Holy mother of Pareto. Yeah, no, unless you're a Tier 1 unit with unlimited budged, you're not swinging that.

>Do that and you will start losing to 7N37 due to WC-core induced amorphization
I think at this point, it would make sense to introduce a class midway between Br5 and Br6, focused specifically on body armor and threats relevant to it. Testing body armor against API ammo intended to disable light vehicle armor and hardware is retarded. We'll see how that goes when the plates appear, tho.

>sounds like a great time.
Sure does, dude.

>Multi-hit, mi amigo.
top zozzle. I know a couple of guys who'd put that to the test.
>>
>>64475309
Thanks for the info about the Mobik situation.
>Holy mother of Pareto. Yeah, no, unless you're a Tier 1 unit with unlimited budged, you're not swinging that.
Not even. Delta's plates of choice in 2009 were Ceradyne 96034s that were 5.3lb a pop, standalone, Swimmer medium, and rated for, and this was heavily debated a long time ago and remains conjecture, 1x 7.62x51mm Swiss P AP or M993. Apparently the strike face of choice was a boron-enriched boron carbide, a Ceradyne secret that resolved the amorphization problem. That was a $1.7k plate then and less than 200 were made. Highest performance Ceradyne that wasn't a Zylon-backed early-00s freakshow plate.
>I think at this point, it would make sense to introduce a class midway between Br5 and Br6, focused specifically on body armor and threats relevant to it.
I agree. Maybe move BR6 to "Special Class" and make the new BR6 3x 7.62x54R 7N51 at whatever velocity. Euro standard VPAM has a similar quirk where PM-13 is 3x tungsten core .50 Swiss P Penetrator and PM-14 is 3x 14.5x114mm B-32 API, which is steel core. In theory you could concoct a boron carbide PM-14 solution that fails PM-13. In the US, many Level IV plates fail the NIJ Level III test. Rating systems have their quirks.
>top zozzle. I know a couple of guys who'd put that to the test.
You know, Tencate had Level IV overhelmet appliques back in the day. A full helmet weighed over 9lb but it can be done.
>>64475066
A part I forgot to mention is that while this six hit 7N37 Granit seems totally badass, and it is because it's the strongest plate with a test report I think ever, Western armor manufacturers can totally mog this if you stop holding them to annoyingly tight weight requirements like VTP XSAPI. Ceradyne is dead and boron enriched strike faces are basically lost technology, but anything the Ruskies can do, Tencate or LTC can probably do better. It'll cost an arm and a leg but it can be done.
>>
>>64474546
Figured I'd ask here because I can't think of any other thread anons would modify gear in. I'm using a USMC chest rig harness as a starting point to try and get some kind of usable hunting setup out of it; this is one of many experiments I've tried. What I have so far is the back two straps are folded down and looped to a pistol belt. The front two straps I added an adjustable section to and they're looped to the front of the pistol belt. Not totally happy with it and I think I should hook it (kinda like the pistol belt suspenders). I like that this doesn't have padded suspender straps, I like the design, and I think I can get it to work, but I do have issues with it bunching up oddly at the shoulders and my lower back still hurts with very minimal loading at my 6 o'clock. I think I might have to tighten the belt and make sure the suspenders are tight enough that they hold some of the load that the very least. Any tips from those who have tried something similar? Looking to eventually add a holster to it at the least and pouches for water bottles/canteens.

Almost totally unproven B-grade Chinesium. Jinwudun is one of the new upstart Chinesium companies, along with GBES and GTS, trying to compete with Militech (the "A-grade" Chinesium armor mfg) since they decided to go premium.
In short, nobody knows about those helmets for sure. Their helmets, especially that Level III, are the untested of the east. Their plates are poor and comparable to Aholdtech. Jinwudun is best for cheap shields and extremity armor, both of which are far harder to fuck up than helmets.

I use just a nice leather belt for my edc, a 92X compact and wml. I have a bad back, the soft leather helps cushion the weight. I used the Ciquera belt for a while and ended up not liking it.
For a gun belt, I recommend the Eagle Ind operator belt, it's a gun belt and nothing fancy, no need to fork out more cash for something that does the exact same thing. It uses loop velcro on the inside so it wont fuck up your outer layers or skin if you decide not to use an inner belt.
>>
>>64478101
Going to keep trying to make it work. I think, despite not completely liking the design, that the hooks on the pistol belt suspenders (the ones that snap shut on a swivel) is a big part of what makes them function. Hangs all the weight off the top of the belt and keeps the harness pretty well anchored as well, unlike my "loop" idea. That means I need to figure out a way to do the same, maybe with paracord. If the design doesn't work out, whatever, I got half a chestrig for like five dollars. Win win. I'm just tired of dealing with a backpack is all.

>These need soft armor? So nearly 9lb in total?
No, not really. The only test that the plate alone failed, but plate+packets+CAP setup survived was 12.7 B-32 @ 800m standoff. I've provided a photo in the last thread (picrel, lower right) showing total BFD from a bunch of 7.62 B-32 impacts on a single plate, it's not that much.
And again, this testing protocol was developed with conventional force equipment in mind. It's assumed one is wearing these plates as par of a high-frag-area infantry armor set like the Ratnik, not in a slick plate carrier.

(1) A bulletproof vest or protective body vest or body armour designed to prevent the penetration of small arms projectiles is a category E weapon.
>tfw lifesaving equipment is a weapon
(2) In this section— body armour—

(a) means an article designed for anti-ballistic purposes that is designed to be WORN (emphasis mine) on a part of the body; and (b) does not include a helmet, or other article, designed for sight or hearing protection.

You CAN get a permit but I doubt that's shall-issue. Sorry about the situation aussie anon.

What are the best plates for the money that are sub 5 lb? Hard requirement. must be sub 5 no exceptions. medium SAPI or 10x12. purely best performance for the money.
>>
>>64479117
>purely best performance for the money.
There's a lot to the term "performance." What's your budget and desired protection level? Sub-5lb locks you out of Level IV almost entirely. Hesco 4800 is 4.9lb for a 10x12 but the drop foam is wanting. Also expensive and IMO underbuilt. Anything lighter than that either costs even more or has backface deformation concerns like the Dayton RF3. Realistically you'd be looking at B-32 API / M80A1 plates like the LTC 28570, which you cannot buy first hand (needs to be "off a truck") or M855A1 / BZ API / M80 plates like the VS-PBZSA. You can go lighter still with the Hesco 3811, but that concedes M855A1 and BZ API versus the PBZSA. Protection level is entirely your call. Your weight requirement demands a solid budget to get quality plates.
Wait six months for some LSAPIs to show up second hand, that could also be a worthy option.
>>
>>64479148
ok maybe not hard for sub 5, let's say sub 6 lb then, the best protection for the money, maybe price per rating or some weird chatgpt slop formula? I know the ltc 19513 is probably in the running.

LTC 19513 is the best overall domestically produced III++ that stops M80 and M855A1. Hesco 3411 is a touch heavier but has an NIJ cert for Level III and picks up 7.62x39mm BZ API - which is rare enough CONUS you can drop it and not really be left wanting.
If we permit Chinese plates then it's the Militech RF3 Black Label at 6.05lb for a 10x12" - which is just a hair over your weight budget - but $540 a set. With their stupid tariff coverage fee that's about $700. LTC 19513 is $800 a set, Hesco 3411 $784 a set. Neither the 3411 or 19513 are rated for M80A1, M61, B-32 API, or .30-06 M2AP. Downsides are that it's Chinese and there is a 10mm mini-cheat-ring around the edges of the plate. You can't beat the Chinese on value but the question is whether you personally can tolerate trusting them on ballistic equipment.
Plates tend to come with a lot of caveats and quirks. It's a lot easier if you state a budget and a desired protection level.

Here you go, the 7.62x51mm test report from RMA's site with my markups explaining why I think the plate performed poorly. It just barely passes the 44mm BFD requirement on 7.62x51mm M80, which is the basic RF1 test threat. Backer is too thin. Mind you the plate is nearly 6lb and the "variance" permits the XRTs you receive to be as light as 5.7lb. Pretty sure it'll go over 44mm then, which is a fail. Maybe that's why they recommend trauma pads with every plate they sell.
>>64479182
The XRT per the attached test report was tested in a wet / dropped conditioning state. It's the 1165 that has no drop foam. The XRT's problems are that it suffers from new age nominal sizing chicanery on the shooter cut (as does the new RMA 1155 and 1165) and the backer is thin, so the chances of BABT are higher. Those video results weren't that impressive either, yeah.
>>64479188
These were discussed pretty thoroughly in past threads. Their 10x12 is way undersized and the plate's lack of drop protection is so pronounced they specifically instructed Buffman to not subject it to ANY drop test. No drop foam except on the edges. If you dive on it you may very well compromise it. Hope it was packed well and the mailman didn't football it. Total repeat of the Highcom 4SAS4 situation.
>>
>>64479209

6lb for a 5.56 plate is very heavy. If 5.56 up to M855A1 and basic 7.62x39 is the problem then Hesco T212s are lighter and much thinner. Basically the point of the XRT's existence is to try and appeal to the "M855A1+M80A1" sweet spot rating zone that previously was only had by the Highcom 3S9M, which IMO is terribly overrated since it's barely lighter / thinner than a Hesco 4601 and costs more money, and very expensive LTC plates like the 28590 / 28595 / 28570 you had to buy second hand. The XRT is thus a total hail mary play, which is why RMA is currently running a black friday deal on the sucker for $150 a plate, $300 a set. How do you suppose it's that cheap other than there being a catch or a few?
>>64479199
Ceramic is 99.7% pure Bitossi, which is nice Alumina. The lack of drop foam is a huge problem as seen with the 4SAS4 disaster. Tens of thousands of plates are out there and people don't even know if they work. Anons got 4SAS4s last year that didn't tap / torque right out of the box. Drop protection is important. It's mandated by 0101.06 but the new drop test in 0101.07 is a lot easier, which means these shenanigans will only get more common.

I'm of the opinion that RMA isn't doing very well, between the refusal to fix the old 1155 (which plain sucks for an 8.3lb plate, I mean an anon busted one with two .308 bargain basement Tulammo at 100 meters), the hail mary play that is the XRT, and the second hail mary that is the nu-1155 and 1165, they're trying to raise cash quickly. To do that means skipping R&D and using the cheapest materials - and literally cutting corners - to increase profit vs cost.

They're relying on people not reading the fine print about their "nominal" shooters cut. This is a trick they pulled from Highcom's book. The new 1165 is basically a cheaper version of Highcom's not-drop-rated 4S16. By the way, Highcom did a stealth edit (again) and the 4S16 is now 0.75" and 7.31lb SAPI M. It used to be 0.7" (same as the new 1165) and 7.1lb SAPI M. Like the 4SAS4 suddenly going from 0101.06 to 0101.04, no press release about this.

Plan is to split it up by rating systems first (50744 and 34286-2017), then weakest options ratings-wise at the top, work my way up going down. New Hesco plate gents. From Prime Armor, the only people who sell the 3814, comes the 3812P. SAPI M is 5.85lb, 0.9" thick. Shooter cut sizing is Highcum-tier at 5.1lb for an 9.5x11.5". $380 a plate.
The M855A1 rated Hesco 3411 is 1.09" thick, 5.7lb SAPI M and 5.5lb for the 10x12. $392 a plate. Overall this 3812P is kinda bland like the 3814.

The Buffalo shooter bought a pair of RMA 1093s from the RMA rep in the /bag/ discord and RMA is being sued because they were ALLEGEDLY negligently selling armor. Gendron, aka Jimboboii, wore the RMA 1093s to the shooting, security guard allegedly shot him once or twice in the plate, plate did its job perfectly (handgun versus a rifle plate, duh) and the security guard is dead because fbigroomedboii was able to return fire.

Working on a handgun loadout

I was curious what you all thought of the silencer holsters. I want to get a flash light with a laser on my handgun. Obviously I’m going to train to not use it as well, but I like to shoot from the hip and having a laser sounds nice so I can keep the barrel roughly head level.

For context: During qualifications I shoot expert. I have better grip then I do trigger pull, so I supplement for my accuracy by shooting faster. I can nail an alpha sized target (maybe its head) at 50 yards with irons.

Kevlar and dyneema flex differently. Dyneema gets you a lighter solution but often has issues with contact shots. Aramids do better with contact hits because PE tends to "melt" when faced with very high temps like a muzzle blast. Hard plates sacrifice coverage versus soft vests, but are often a touch stronger.

>Which means I should probably consider Aramid; given it won’t really matter at a distance but at point blank it does matter. Alternatively; do you believe it will be a difference?
The old DocGKR advice is to buy FBI-compliant soft armor. They have their own protocol that is more difficult than NIJ. It's been a minute since the FBI protocol has been relevant. Some PE soft armor can handle contact shots, but this is outside the realm of NIJ, certified or otherwise. For it to matter the guy basically has to have the gun on your armor.
At minimum get certified soft unless you're buying gucci like Hardwire-68. Stealth Armor Systems has some neat soft armor that they test to a 5:15 Express Test. Fifteen shots, 5" circle. Meant to simulate getting magdumped or hammered with a switched Glock.
>Do you know which is more breathable?
Depends but PE usually is more "breathable" - you can enhance comfort further by going down to Level II / HG1 from IIIA HG2, if you think threats are low enough to swing that. I would not go below II.

Can't make out anything about the skirt, though. Do a selfie.

keks aside, I've seen dudes pack machetes and yuge garden shears specifically to cut drone fiber. Or cut through it, after awhile it turns the landscape into one of those "cursed spider forest" type RPG biomes.

Bulletproof arms, wtf.
Triada-TKO dropped the arm bracers entirely in transition from peacetime "Gruppa-99" kit to KBS Strelok. Even at C2 they are way too heavy to be useful, even worse than trying to wear armor below knee.

Baltoids still shilling "their" NV\thermal gear.
Why wouldn't a thermal in front of the red dot work, though? Magnification might be useless when you're zooming into the same 800*600px, but still - why not?
>>

>Baltoids still shilling "their" NV\thermal gear.
I fucking WISH I paid attention to their thermal gear. I could have gotten 500 dollars off the RH25v2 from them if I was paying attention to them.
>Why wouldn't a thermal in front of the red dot work, though?
I was thinking the magnifier was too far back for it to work.

use your imagination
>Arm armor
This is exceptionally large forearm armor. I think the idea is that if you're standing angled the armor will protect more than just your arms and will intercept stuff that would otherwise hit torso. Need to see it worn on a larger person because that guy might be tiny. Reviews are positive and it's basically called a mini shield. GBES' stuff does tend to run very high in the coverage department, sometimes more than Jinwudun.
>even worse than trying to wear armor below knee.
Never seen that aside from SWAT shieldmen. Usually no higher than IIIA.
>Baltoids still shilling "their" NV\thermal gear.
Maybe they should get a Oneleaf 640x512 for $1.4k and call it a day.

not really. maybe if your adversary has overhead assets in your area but this goes into any intelligence architecture planning. it certainly has much less of a signature than traditional (geo) satellite communications, let alone the signature of all the generators and other equipment in a toc.
are you implying any fighting force these days is going to war totally in the dark? or are you just a neverserved?

I don't think the government has direct access to starlink telemetry information

I don't know the exact names, but they're both parachute harness components. You can often find them at old time surplus stores that sell actual surplus. Probably ebay too.

200 IQ comms are one time pads and a numbers station that plays completely inconspicuous messages on CB which can only be decoded using the OTP. OTPs handed out to trusted operatives in advance disguised as a recipe for sesame chicken and some doodles in the margins.
>>

Do you really think that?

yeah. you've clearly never worked for or with the government if you think "they" (who?) just zip zap zoop have access to whatever they want.

>>64483546
You clearly don't know about the 2010 snowden leaks that proved that or of services like Palantir because the actually do that in an even more advanced way. Pretty unreal ignorance like this is still occurring.

>>64483564
so do you have a single piece of evidence that points to government ever monitoring starlink telemetry in any way?
let me guess, the government can crack any encryption algorithm too right?

Its really not worth talking to people like yourself. I guess you don't know who owns starlink its use in current wars around the world with US partners or really much of anything. Remember to exhale after you inhale, best of luck!

Are all or any Starlink subscribers using encription for up/dwn links?

I’ll have to check into stealth armor systems. My fear is actually getting mag dumped by a glock at point blank

I didn’t know FBI compliant soft armor is a thing, but I’ll definitely pick it up if I can afford it
>>
>>64482760
With the SAS armor, is it worthwhile to get dragon skin plates? I’m looking at the 3++ plate and my question is; does it ship as a pair? Also
Is it edge to edge 3++
>>
>>64484437
Starlink claims data is encrypted in flight, but users don't have any control over the line protocol so the only way to "use encription for up/dwn links" is to do the normal things like use TLS and non-ISP DNS resolvers, and use a VPN if you're concerned about ISP eavesdropping. Of course that assumes you can trust the VPN, and I assume most of the commercial ones are NSA honeypots.

If youre driving so high speed under nods that you need massive output, you'd probably be better off with hood mounted thermals for VC to spot large obstacles while driver is running small IR lights for picking more comfortable lines.
If the terrain is so technical you cant go fast, you shouldnt be belching that much IR light since you are going to be much easier to run down.

Speak for yourself. You're pretending like you've never been anywhere before and you think you need night vision in the middle of the day time in a car park. Even if all power were to drop you would need to have your daylight cap on to use them. Pointless.

You do not need a special belt to carry a hellcat sized gun. When I carry my micro 9 4:00 or AIWB I use a regular cloth belt.
>>
>>64485021
stiffer belts can get you a smoother draw if you are using a good retention holster
but yeah, it's not necessary
>>
>>64485078
>stiffer belt
Or maybe he can get a leg brace or whatever they're called. Clips around your leg to add a second point of stability.
>>
>>64485090
you could, but wearing a stiff belt makes more sense than tying your cloth belt to your thigh
>>
>>64485104
it's just for the holster, not the belt.
>>
>>64484959
I am not a high speed ultra cool operator but I can tell you that at least from an infantryman's perspective, keeping your nods mounted on your helmet means it takes up one less pouch on your kit and you don't have to dig through a bag or something to get at them if you end up going into somewhere that's super dark like a basement. Also makes life easier for the team/squad leaders who need to do PCC/PCI's or SI checks at various intervals.
>but they could break!
They don't give a fuck because it's not like they paid for the tubes with their own money. If they break they just swap them out in the arms room for another set.
>unnecessary weight on their head
Get a stronger neck nigga wtf

I get that it's cool to be contrarian as fuck when it comes to all things operator right now but sometimes the shit they do makes sense if you think about it for longer than 5 seconds
>>
>>64485109
you're still tying your belt down to your thigh, you just have a holster in between
>>
>>64485111

Dog, only retarded mouth breathers say shit like that. The spine doesn't care how many neck ups Mike Tyson does, it will still be injured from having all that dipshit weight on your head when you don't need it. People are starting to realize this now and recommending bump helmets when ballistic is not needed.
>makes sense if you think about it for longer than 5 seconds

SAS' armor is sold individually last I checked. Dragonskin is compiled out of small circular tiles so it isn't entirely "edge to edge" like a typical plate shape.
Dragonskin is mixed bag because it's uncertified and the guy selling it, Bain, is the same guy who invented it in '97. He sold it to his former business partner, Neal, in 2000 and it was under Neal's watch that Dragonskin failed the hell out of the 2006 Army trials. Did Bain know back in '97 that the stuff had issues? The new Dragonskin is allegedly fixed but its total lack of NIJ certification isn't inspiring confidence.
>>
>>64485078
I don't have any issues. The holster does move with the gun for a couple of inches tops but it still comes out cleanly and it is not going to come off the belt because I use ulticlips. I'd much rather have that movement than a stiffer, thicker belt.
