I have the itch to buy more guns. Someone needs to shut off the propaganda I don't want to buy another gun.
why aren't there any DA/SA micro compact guns i want a DA/SA to carry but i don't want to give up the size to magazine capacity ratio of guns like the p365
>>64482198Anyone know what exactly a FedEx Hub is? I am going to send a gun to Ruger to fix the sights and they are going to send me a label, but they say I have to take it to a FedEx Hub. I assume that I can't just drop it off at any FedEx location if they are going to specify FedEx Hub, but I don't know. . .
>>64482225$149 with the $30 Taurus rebate.Come home white man
>>64482233wow that's fucking retarded. Thanks for washing me of my sinful lust to purchase more things I don't need.
>>64482233There is literally zero reason to get a hipoint when these exist.
>>64482243Yeah, I want to like Hi point, but they have no reason to exist any more. That's probably why they are making ARs now.
>>64482228DA/SA triggers require internal parts that make slim double stack mags hard. The 3914 is your best bet
>>64482251Taurus has really cleaned up in recent years I hear even their revolvers rarely have issues.
>>64482198just ordered rosewood grips from hogue for my cz 75b.in other news i'm pondering spending the like thousand dollar on a cz scorpion to eventually outfit it for home defense (suppressor + subsons)
How much defensive ammo do you stockpile? Do you only keep enough to fill your mags or do you practice with it regularly?
>>64482315I keep no less than 250 defensive/hot rounds on my ammo shelf, and my carry gun is always loaded with them, but I very rarely shoot the stuff. Doesn't feel different enough to warrant shooting it.
>>64482261I've been thinking about their revolvers, but something about them looks cheap and shitty. All of their stuff just has this off brand look to it I just can't ignore. Aesthetically even the rock island cerakoted poverty pistol with its error message hammer spur geometry looks better. I feel like I should either go super cheap like pic related or go with something expensive. Taurus feels like the worst of both worlds. Not the cheapest but still cheap looking. Also, they've been shilling 32 revolvers so hard lately I got to wonder who's behind it.
>went to indoor range after work to try a bodyguard 2.0 rental>feels great for how small it is I'm in love>3 rounds in get a failure to extract>clear it and it does it again 4 rounds in>ended up getting 10 failures to extract out of a box of 50rds>leave sad and dissapointed
>>64482343shi dint happen bruh you're just that dude who has a hateboner for s&w
>>64482353>five star detective dipshit is on the case of the anonymous nobody guy lying on the internetthanks pal
>>64482315I used to go with the "test it until you have enough for your carry mags +1" plan, but I'm trying to transition to having more. I want to live in magical old school Paul Harrell land where you can buy cheap Remington hollow points at the store. I always found it funny when he'd complain about "hyper" ammo being overpriced, when that's literally all we have here. I did buy a case of pic related for my suppressed nightstand gun.
>>64482353No it did happen unfortunately
>>64482355>five star detective dipshitkek
>>64482353Nigga s&w is really fucky lately you don't even need to make shit up at this point.
>>64482353>>64482355When fn anon went to the range with me last week his bodyguard 2.0 had light strikes, he even posted about it. I had one when I shot it. He didn't seem to hate smith. I'm not thrilled with them, but I'd still consider them for certain models.
>>64482232A FedEx hub is kind of like their regional headquarters near major airports where they sort all their packages and prep them for air freight. All the packages you drop off at those FedEx Office retail locations get sent to the nearest hub for sorting. The wagies at the retail location with probably tell you that they can only ship firearms if you're an FFL, which is why Ruger is telling you to go to the hub.t. work for FedEx
>>64482315Defensive ammo? Just enough to keep my carry guns fully loaded. Random bullshit ammo? At least 1k lying around at any given point (for each caliber).
the only defensive ammo i test is my buffalo bore short barrel lower recoil/flash 357 magnum. i usually put 1 or 2 of those rounds in my model 60 (as the last shots to be fired after .38 +ps) so i just try to keep myself familiar with how it feels to shoot even non-full power magnums out of a snubbie
>>64482315I handload most of my ammo, including my carry ammo. I make 100 rounds of defensive stuff and then load the gun plus a reload. I go to the range about once a month and shoot up my carry ammo and the reload along with my FMJ and replace the carry ammo after cleaning the gun. My carry revolvers last 10 months doing this and my LCP Max naturally lasts half that. I can always make more if needed, but a rarely make more before I load up the last set. Most of my stockpiled ammo is just range shit so I can go shoot whenever I want. I don't really see ever needing more than what the gun carries as far as defensive ammo goes. It's not like you will ever have the time to run away, find your stash, load up your mags, and then get back into fighting off the home invader or whatever. XD
>>64482343I rented a Bidyguard 2 as well. Only I got light primer strikes every fucking mag. Total waste of money renting it, but I'm glad I didn't buy one. I'll stick to my LCP Max thank you very much.
>>64482406Buffalo bore ammo exceeds SAAMI spec so I'm afraid to shoot that stuff.
>>64482417After my shit experience today with the 2.0 I'm looking at the lcp max I'm just kinda pissed they don't have one available for rental I might call some other ranges to see if they have one.
>>64482315I buy it in 500 round bulk packs, test a hundred or two rounds through the carry gun, save the rest but regularly shoot a mag or so to confirm optic zero or whatnot.
>>64482419You should be, living in fear is a survival trait. The more you tremble and cower, the longer you will live.
>>64482337The RIA colt detective is absolutely a lot cheaper and you’ll definitely see and feel it when you handle one. Still, that price point is quite enticing.
Are the new colt revolvers garbage or gtg?
>>64482419their really hot stuff sure. but their lower flash and recoil rounds are good
>>64482406>158gr projectile flying 1000+ FPS out of a 2 inch snubbyBuffalo Bore 38 special +P is pretty much just low end 357 magnum
>>64482492true. but at the end of the day all the defensive ammo is $40 for 20 rounds anyway so might as well get the legit 357s with the extra bit of power
Bruh this stuff is diabolical
>>64482428Be warned that the LCP Max does kick harder and flip more and it also has a crappy stock trigger which has aftermarket upgrades available, but everything else is better than the Bodyguard 2. Just get the Stainless or the new Nitrided slide models as the Base slide finish sucks.
>>64482232I dropped off my Walther at a bassic bitch Fed-Ex store. It's weird that Ruger would be different.
What daily carry holsters does everyone use? Are there any particular brands you find shitty and uncomfortable?
>>64482461Smith & Wesson has a better trigger.
>>64482449I didn't even want one but I got sucked in by the free gun (see the revolver general for details). Now I want one that works, goddamit! But I should just forget about it and carry my lcp2. Speaking of which>>64482428>>64482417Here's my question about the lcp max. Has anyone tried it with the Hogue grip? I have the single stack and the grip is perfect. It makes it much easier to shoot and only makes it as thick as the holster it comes with. The difference is 4 or 5 rounds. They do make a sleeve for the max, but it's got to either be thinner or make the gun much thicker overall. I'd like to try it, but as I already own the lcp2 and if I want to upgrade I can go to 9mm, I haven't bothered. >>64482511>all the defensive ammoNot all, but it's hard to find. I addressed this already ITT >>64482362>>64482530>Kick moreThe sleeve mostly mitigates this, but that's the single stack and this is what I want to know like I said above. >Trigger badI'm used to it and being unfamiliar with the bg2, I shot much worse with it, but that's probably just me, and again I've never shot the max, just the single stack.
>>64482279>thousand dollar on a cz scorpionWhy are PCCs so expensive? I feel like something like that should be in the $500 range.
>>64482428both of them suck, get a g42
How well does a J frame work for pocket carry compared to the latest crop of wonder 380's?
>>64482243Yeah as someone who owns and enjoys his 10mm hi point the taurus gx4 is just so much better. There is a reason I have aftermarket grips on my hi point, and it's because the factory ones had a gap between them and the frame that pinched the skin between my thumb and pointer finger. The gx4 has better grip ergos with the stipling than almost every other microcompact on the market. Really nice trigger too.>>64482279My buddies stribog is hilariously reliable, like when we get shitty turkish rounds that have the wrong size case so they wont feed or have primers seated too deep to be fired in any other gun the bog eats it all. Meanwhile my other buddies scorpion is a jammomatic. The bog takes scorp mags if that matters to you.
>>64482198What happened to the guy daily cc-ing a 1903?
>>64482610Short answer is not that well unless your hands are weird and you naturally shoot revolvers well, and even then 10+1 rounds of 380 beats 5 rounds of 38 special especially in a smaller package that weighs down your pockets a full 1/2lb lessLong answer is the developements in holster technology make pocket draws remarkably fast and the QVO holster can be tossed in a bag full of shit or kept in a pocket full of keys and you'd never have to worry about the trigger since it's covered with kydex with less gap than any other holster I've seen. Check out this video which, in arguing for the revolver, kind of gives you every reason against getting one instead. https://youtu.be/eFeMVzYDHwc?si=zj37gMiWVQlDVDy2

The reliability of pocket 380s is iffy compared to a j frame
>>64482673You're comparing an all steel model 36 instead of something more commonly used like a 442 airweight.
>>64482697Nice Glock M&P
>>64482670He grew up and got a real job.
>>64482736That's Glock & Wesson, sir.
>>64482694Me and the other Detroit anon just shot his model 36 and it had 2 failures in 10? 15? Rounds. My BG 2.0 with known light strike issues had 2 light strikes with 6-7 mags so 70-80 rounds. The reliability of revolvers is greatly exaggerated by revolver users.>>64482704I was under the impression that airweights were no go because of their tendacy to crack frames. But sure, the airweight is only 3oz heavier instead of 8oz, all that weight savings and the only downside is it breaks after 1-2k rounds. What a great trade off!The only reason to use a J frame to pocket carry is if you just shoot revolvers wayyyy better than semis, OR if you're dead broke and can't afford to spend an extra $80 on a BG 2.0 and another $60-80 on a holster.
>>64482761>I was under the impression that airweights were no go because of their tendacy to crack framesOnly true for older ones like the model 38 etc. not really a problem with any of them produced in the last decade or so.

>>64482787Yes. For some reason people think the millions of gen 5s are going to disappear the second the V comes out. I'd sell it now, you can get more than you paid for it if it's in decent condition
The fact that glock refuses to make a g43x 15rd mag makes me seethe.
>>64482803I shoot the echelon better than anything else, but the glock is still good and is much easier to carry in that configuration. I'm getting my 26's slide cut currently and oddly enough I can shoot it almost as good as my 19
>>64482787If only you knew how bad things really were
>>64482816>Yeah it sounds like you're just making up stuff at this point the airweights in 38 have been solid for a super long time nowYeah sure man, you can't find folks talking about these problems a couple years ago at laughably low round counts by just googling it. Could it be that they all just had really really old smiths? Sure. >>64482833Is it just the size difference that makes the Glock easier to carry or is it the light? I was looking at the compact size Echelon myself.
>>64482849The s&w hater is back
>>64482855it's both, having (or not having) an x300 makes a big difference in comfort, but grip lengths is what makes a pistol print. If you care about that. Thickness doesn't really matter imo. I hear good things about the 4.0 but I've never shot it. The full sized echelon is great
>>64482198If HK actually made metal guns I'd buy one. But they insist on cheap shit plastic like glock. Shame cause I believe they could make a pretty good looking metal handgun.
>>64482849A failure at an extremely low round count is a defective gun that's not proof that airweights as a whole have a tendancy to crack frames left and right once they start getting to higher round countsEven the failures in those threads are small parts not even the frameTheres also a guy in there that says he has 7k rounds through one

Buying scrap from another gun might not work because that spring is fucked too. The only ones I recall for sure were in double action and the spring is really tight. It looks like it's in good shape. I think it's probably something to do with how the parts are moving in double action, there's a whole thread on this on the SW forum where a guy had similar issues. It could be clipping the hammer block but I don't want to make a range trip every time I have an idea. Now that I type this I can just get some primed cases right? I don't need to shoot bullets to test this. I can do that at home. They should make a snap cap with an accelerometer in it to diagnose this!
Feeling kinda proud of myself. Been working on a project 1911 this past month and got to handle a $3000 Night Hawk. >>64484951>stupid mag releaseI have two HKs with that release, the rest of my (modern) pistols have a conventional button (some of the old ones have a heel release). I prefer the trigger guard lever.

>>64485075I was always a Glock hater too, but Gen 5 really is good. Too bad Glock is gone now. Nu-Glock will be sovlless just like Nu-Sig and Nu-HK.

>>64485186>SAR ARMSAre you sure it's not Indian?
>>64485180There's 1911's with 1913 rails because there's a market that doesn't treat them like Gunko Pops
>>64482343>>64482417My bg2.0 runs flawlessly. So does my buddy's who bought one. Shame your rentals were trash.
>>64485200Yeah it's really too bad. The BG2 seems nice. Even if it worked as it should have, I didn't care for the sights or the safety and I don't really think it is worth 100 dollars more than the LCP Max. 25-50 more, sure, but definitely not 100. The two piece feed ramp kinda makes me iffy too. Seems like a place for things to get hung up on and for crap to build up in. The trigger was pretty nice though, especially for a pocket gun. When I get my extra power recoil spring from Mcarbo, I'm going to the range again to see if it helps reduce recoil in my LCP. Hopefully it will be more in line with the Bodyguard 2's recoil impulse. Anyone else try the extra power springs from Mcarbo or Galloway for their LCP Max?
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1136456086This seems like an amazing deal, but no on has bid on this at all and it keeps repeating countdownsAm I missing a glaring flaw shown in the pictures that is averting people, or is it just the seller doesn’t give enough info on it?The only thing I saw is that it may have the welded-on tiny sights that you can’t replaceI’m thinking about this, but I can’t tell why it is getting fully ignored unlike most other hi-power listings I see
>>64485241Just my personal experience, messing with recoil spring weight is a recipe for disaster unless you’re tuning a gun with a comp that requires you to. It’s an easy way to make a reliable gun into something only usable as a range toy.
>>64485248More than 2 days out. Nobody is bidding because they don't want the price to go up for no reason. People like to wait till the last hour or two to bid then the FOMO kicks in and the price skyrockets. I've bought a few things on there and that's how it always goes.
>>64485257It’s gone all the way to zero more than once howeverit just keeps restartingthat’s what’s weird to me
>>64485248>>64485257Likely won’t get bids because >private seller>no credit card, money order or checks only There’s danger of it being a scam and or it doesn’t provide instant gratification since payment and shipping will take over a week
>>64485199>Gunko popsFuck outta here faggot
>>64485269Good catch, thanksI glossed over that and just thought it said you simply “can” use money orders, instead of have toMy other guess was right, that it’s a private seller with barely any info provided for this
>>64485241>I didn't care for the sights or the safetyMine has no safety. Agree the sights are mediocre though.
>>64485283There are some deals to be had with private sellers, just do your due diligence to make sure it’s not a scam
>>64485278You may call him a larper, noguns, gay, dirt shooter, it all runs off him like water off a raincoat. But call him a firearm collector and see how he recoils: "I've been found out"
>>64485251You can always take it out if it causes problems. A lot of Ruger guns are undersprung to make it easier to rack the slide. Ruger is popular with old people after all so it makes sense. I've heard that the LCP Max is one of those undersprung guns. I've got a few hundred rounds of winchester FMJ to play with and maybe I'll handload some light loads just to make sure that it is reliable even if the ammo I use is light from the factory.

>>64485531>>64485546I have no fucking idea. Sticker was 660$ but I asked for 610$ and they accepted. I THOUGHT I was getting just the gun but dude said the box is in the back with another mag. I was kinda sorta sus but no, its a legit 2025 production .45 USP. >>64485577You are one lucky son of a bitch. I'd snap up a usp in 45 for $660 this instant if I came across it at my LGS. Nice find brotherman.
>>64485577Maybe a “friend of the industry” thing, sometimes gun companies send freebies or reduced price guns to registered dealers so the Gunstore can sell it for a also reduced price to attract customers/interest in that brand
>>64485563>>64485564Glock 17 and 45 seem pointless unless you have giant meat hooks. The Gen 5 G19 with no backstrap fits my hand perfectly with the trigger guard undercut and slight flare on the magwell.
>>64485599Thanks, man, yeah I bebopped back up there with the quickness. They also have another, a very used HK45 Tactical for 900$ which i felt seemed a far more likely price to see on an HK. I dunno, maybe someone looked up the MSRB on the Hk45 Tac and thought the USP is normally priced way lower? Lotta shops do that shit around here.Picrel is a older USP 9 up the road at a pawnshop. >>64485622Didnt think of that but this shop is notorious for charging stupid prices. Does anyone have experience with differences in reliability between 185gr vs. 230gr +p ammo? Youtube tells me this thing was designed around 185gr +p but the manual mentions only that 185gr was used to zero the sights. I'd prefer to use 230gr +p because it's still subsonic, but don't know if it would negatively impact the slide / mag feed cycling.

Well, after another 50 or so rounds it happened again, twice. Even cleaned it the night before. Have to be closing in at around 500 rounds at this point. Think it's time to cut my loses and trade it out, or stick with it?

>>64486196I'd contact Glock. What gen? Their .45s are usually solid so there's something wrong with it. I did hear some isolated reports of similar failures(usually a specific round in the magazine, one of the last ones) on some gen 5 21s about a year or so back fwiw.

>>64485975I have a almost 1200 rounds through mine. 95% of that has been 230gr FMJ. Just a little bit of 185gr JHP, various +P and both type of 45 super. It hasn't had one problem with any of it, so in my limited experience there is no difference.
>>64486196>that kind of jamThat's a limp-wrist jam. Have some others shoot it for a bit and see if it still happens. I let my sister shoot my USP 45 once and she got that jam once or twice every magazine when I have gone thousands and thousands of rounds without a jam on it.>>64486301>I didn't think I was, but then again maybe I eased up too muchTry changing your grip and really concentrate on keeping it steady. You can be doing that and then when it goes off you let off a little bit and it can do this jam. You may not do it with other pistols and it's just something about this pistol that is making you limp-wrist it.
>>64486311I'm not sure the exact gen, but you're right. I've run a Gen 3 21 for well over a decade and I've never had it do anything like this
>>64486301>Also already did that. They replaced the spring and guide rodTell them it keeps happening and it didn't fix the issue. It's (unfortunately) not uncommon to have to send back a gun multiple times these days.

do polymer guns have less potential for super high round counts? some guy on youtube says his glock frame warped downward in the middle after 89k rounds. would a internal metal chassis like on the m&p eliminate this warping once you get to very high round counts (100k+)
>>64486631That’s just glock engineering
>>64486631by virtue of polymer being less strong than metal? sure but the amount of force exerted on the frame of the pistol is not that much.
