Try not to laugh...
I have an issue with sending my mental health records to MEPS. I was never hospitalized, arrested, or planned to kill myself.

I was 14 ten years ago and often said shit like "I want to kill myself" and "kill yourself" because everyone I knew constantly used emotionally charged language like that all the time.
My mental health counseling records begin with a false statement of a school cop accusing me of sympathizing with ISIS due to an instagram meme I posted (which is substantiated by literally nothing, as if a school cop is an expert on what terrorist sympathies looks like).
It's especially ironic because I'm literally the most racist anti-muslim guy to ever exist... not that that will be known by MEPS in any capacity... also I'm white and atheist.

How will MEPS respond to this and is there any way I can amend this?
Do I have to lawyer up to get into the military and prove that I wasn't sympathizing with ISIS?

How the FUCK do you get prescription records from over 7 years ago?
I went to the pharmacy I picked up my prescriptions from and they purged their records of my prescriptions.
How can they do that?
To add insult to injury, the psychologist who was prescribing anti-depressants stopped working there.
I tried getting them to print out a signed blank record of my pharmacy records that don't exist and it wasn't enough for MEPS.
I feel like I'm giga fucked and shit out of luck, like I should just stop trying to enlist.

It’s funny because I came on here years ago seeking enlistment advice. The same sperging retard was spamming the thread back then. Despite that, I still enlisted.

Since then, I have
>Finished a 4 year contract
>Got out/transitioned to the guard
>Finished my bachelor’s degree
>Got a regular job
>Started my masters online
And this guy is still sperging out in the same thread every day, 7 days a week. He doesn’t take weekends off. He doesn’t take holidays off. 1,500+ days of spamming gay memes in a thread used by 15 people.

I really wish I could meet him in person. I want to know how someone becomes this.

The Corps was extremely autistic in the era immediately after the Afghanistan troop surge/when the GWOT started to quickly wind down. I was in 2012-2016. You'd have however many battalions in the division, all preparing for OIF-I style combat just on sustainment, and sandwiching it in-between pieces of MEU work-ups if they were slated.
Then, with FD2030, they all acted like it never happened and that there was purpose all along.

Pretty sure this is Army only. It's not a lie, if you get it in your contract and you fulfill your obligation of basic training/AIT/maybe airborne you will go there.

I can't tell you where to go as it's different for everyone.
You either go somewhere scenic or somewhere with good command.
But always Europe if you can stomach the change.
>>
>>64531652
It's Army only afaik. It's called Option 19. The way it works is duty locations will populate in the system and you get to pick from what's available, unless you want to gamble on something you want coming up at a later date. The list of options is here: https://recruiting.army.mil/News/Article/3111426/thirty-two-guaranteed-duty-locations-of-choice/
What base to go to heavily depends on your chosen MOS. If infantry, you really want to go to Drum, Bragg, Campbell, or Italy if you want to progress quickly in your career slash have a chance of deploying in Le Current Year. If MI, you really want to go to Hawaii, Meade, San Antonio, or Fort Gordon, unless you want to do Motor Pool Monday like your combat arms peers in FORSCOM. Idk about other career fields, those are the only ones I have direct experience with.

If you’re young and single, I recommend getting 5 of your best boys and getting a stupid big house to rent. If you get a big enough place, it doesn’t even feel like having roommates.

You gotta get non-retards that will pay their bills though.
>>
>>64531652
This is not army only…kinda. COAST GUARD has confirmed DISTRICT placement (districts are just how the CG splits up responsibility for who operates where in America/overseas). So you can confirm a district, but not what base you get in that district. Depends on what rate you are though whether you can get a confirmed district placement or not.

Sounds like a good way to get fucked over by one guy getting a gf, unless you and the homies are just gonna be a big gay unit.
>>
>>64537247
Honestly me and my friend group used that approach for years. New GFs were fine and most of them are still living like that even in our early 30s except some of the better off guys own the houses these days. Unsurprisingly a female did ruin it in one case, but instead of it being a case of a new GF splitting somebody off it was one dudes wife(been with him since HS) turning into a whore and cheating on him with another guy in the group while getting up to all sorts of psycho shit. It can definitely work and is imho the best way for younger people to live assuming you have a good enough friend group, just be prepared to abandon ship if necessary.

>It can definitely work and is imho the best way for younger people to live assuming you have a good enough friend group, just be prepared to abandon ship if necessary
Yeah, there’s the rub. Finding 5 non-retarded males in their 20s is damn near impossible. In college, I would say half the people I lived with didn’t know how to do laundry. Literal brain dead coddled momma’s boys. Desperate to find a girlfriend so that they could finally stop wearing T-Shirts that smell. You have no idea how many worthless retards are out there.

Still though, it’s so much better to pool your income while you can. Shit can be better than owning a house because only like 40% of homeownership costs actually come back to you in equity.

But yeah, that’s what I hated most about college. Trying to find non-retards to put around you.
>>
>Hey kid wanna join the military?

Anyone here can tell me how is the process to get security clearance?
>>
>>64537813
For the military? You fill out a form online your recruiter gives you, they determine if you're high, low, or medium off that at MEPS. If you're medium or high you get barred from any secret or top secret clearance jobs. If you get low and choose a job with a clearance they continue the investigation while you're in basic/boot and might pull you aside if they found anything and make you change jobs. They'll keep it going probably well into whatever school you go to, takes like a year, but until they find anything you'll be allowed to keep doing stuff.

No one is sickly. MEPS is just making shit up.
I have to get an audiology consult on my own even though I passed the hearing test.
Some dude I was with passed the eye test but had to get an additional waiver for astigmatism.
They say 80% of America is not fit to serve its BS.
MEPS is where the stats come from and its because they count applicants who need minor waivers the same as applicants that need to go to fat camp and have spine problems and ten surgeries in the last 5 years.
Nothing about this "statistic" is true besides MEPS doctors being bitches.
>>
>>64537512
>You would NOT be this picky with dudes if the draft started tomorrow.
Because it isn't. I don't know what crazy bullshit you need waivers for, for me I had one surgery when I was 6 and I just had to request the medical papers from the hospital explaining why I had that scar and that's it.
>>
>>64537835
NTA but I think its changed a little bit. My recruiter only asked me for character references so far. Didnt have to fill anything extra out besides the applicant questionaire.
Good to know that they might fuck with me later though.
>>
>>64537843
Brother I'm a cancer survivor and had a metal plate in my jaw before I ever went to MEPS and didn't need waivers (cancer isn't disqualifying if over 5 years ago). Most these people needing waivers are asthmatics and kids with retardation like ADHD and depression who I don't want around me.
>>
>>64537835
What if they can't find or search anything?
>>
>>64537843

Coast guard was always hard to get into. Army is easy. The real question is what job do you want. Does the coast guard have it? Will they take you? Does the army have what you want, or the air force, navy, marines. It's your future man. Do what's best for you.

Depends. My boys girlfriend was a fucking health inspector and she got it as an E3. At the end of the day it’s just one less room top has to inspect once a month so most of the brass were totally fine with one less thing on their plate. It would never come up that you have a drinking problem unless you checked into rehab. If you did check into rehab, then IIRC it’s a 2 year “clean” requirement and then they can issue a waiver IF THEY WANT (difficulty of receiving one depends on the branch with AF being the most unlikely, and marines being the most likely). Alcohol dependency also disqualifies from certain enlisted jobs but that’s also branch specific
>>
>>64549411
Unless you have a DUI, been arrested for public intoxication or disorderly conduct or been institutionalized they won't know. Depending on your age if it happened when you were underaged and your parents reported it, it might pop up on their checks but otherwise no.

If it comes up in your check you can probably get a waiver for it in the army and navy at least. I was taken into police custody when I was drunk once but they just drove me home and there were no criminal charges so I was ok.

I was a UPS driver for sometime and they found it, they let me keep driving. Does that mean MEPs will find it too?

Also, thank you

If you were arrested they'll find it for sure. Don't lie about criminal record, you won't get away with it. It's in the god damn OP
>LYING ABOUT CRIMINAL HISTORY: BAD
They'll just have to decide if it was serious enough to disqualify you. Minor things can get waivered easily but might exclude you for some jobs.
>>
>Have celiac
>never got diagnosed
>once did a test that revealed genetic precursors
Likelihood that recruiters will catch this? I assumed very low but any ways to lower it?
>>
>>64549967
You can probably get through it if you lie about it, but you'll also be fucked once you're in because you can't ask for gluten free meals.
>>
>>64549931
It was never a question about lying. When do they even ask?
>They'll just have to decide if it was serious enough to disqualify you.
>Minor things can get waivered easily but might exclude you for some jobs.
How soon would I know? Would it matter if I already signed my contract?
>>
>>64550660
You would never sign a contract without them knowing about your criminal record. They run a background check pre? MEPS.

At this point just talk to a recruiter, you’re starting to get into the weeds of questions that only a recruiter could answer
>>
>>64550660
Recruiters typically ask before MEPS, and once you complete MEPS your recruiter runs your bg checks. They can see all your arrest records even if they are "expunged" theres zero benefit to hiding this stuff.
>>
>>64548660
The current ship date for boot camp is April, and they are in no rush to recruit or just take anyone.

Join Navy.
>>
>>64548660
Join whatever branch meets your standards and what you think will serve you the best in your future.
>Coast Guard
-Less duty station locations
-Less job variety
+Better comradery
+Rewarding, meaningful objectives
+Good quality of life
~Low chance you will see combat of any kind
~Small branch size
~Primarily sea based missions
>Army
-Less comradery, more and larger units
-Objectives are not all rewarding and depend on the job
+Lots of different jobs (pick wisely)
+Lots of possible duty stations
~Some chance you will see combat in or out of war, depends highly on MOS, unit, SOF or not, and geopolitics anyway
~Duty station quality of life variety (some good some bad)
~Easier promotion to an extent
~More freedom to attend Advanced Leadership and Skills Courses (think Mountaineer, Airborne, Jungle, Sapper, Ranger)
If you really love the sea go Coast Guard. Beats Navy.
If you really dont care about the sea go Army. Beats Navy.

Why are the only people to advocate for the military people to that were never in it? So far the only people who posted dd214 was 92gfag and BCDfag

Ok, mossad.

I was never given a physical copy of my DD214. I mean I got it online of course, printed it out myself, and saved the pdf in a million different places. But I figured at some point my last base or the VA would mail it to me or tell me I can pick it up or something. Is it weird that they didn't?
>>
>>64552680
Former 11B, now 35N here. I don't have a DD214 because I'm still in.

These threads used to be much more honest 5+ years ago. Feels like recruiters found out about /meg/ in the past few years and just post recruiter spiels.

The real OGs know what happens when real 4chan spergs join.

>>Fort Jackson Army Basic Training Guide (Nov. 2020)
>pastebin.com/yg972vRE (Short version)
>pastebin.com/53tsDj90 (40 page version)
40 page needs updating. I may just be a pussy but when I went through Jackson in 2023 there was zero opportunity for fraternization, the doors to the central stairwell that connect the female and male bays have a silent alarm to the CQ desk at the front of the starship. The drills will also get on your case if you try to get a battle-boo in formation, they fucking hate that and will threaten to counsel you out.
The drills also told us that trying to fraternize in the field will get us counseled or SHARPed out. 1SG said he'd bring NODs to the hammer/anvil/forge and that he'd already caught one trainee trying to crawl into a female's fighting position last cycle
Leg tucks are gone, I don't know if they've updated to the AFT there yet or are still on the ACFT.
There's no girls on the internet but its worthwhile to note that the female bays will always have the dumbest people in any company. Females (especially the black ones) love asking their baby-daddies to send them vapes and phones in the mail. Drills are supposed to check for those, but during my cycle a few slipped through. One day us males got to sit in our bays for an entire day after a contraband check because the drills found something like 16 vapes and 2 phones in the female bays, so the females got smoked for about 3 or 5 hours. Females will get up to the dumbest shenanigans. They'll give you the most grief. They'll have the most retards that will get recycled or entirely discharged for things like fitness, failure to adapt, and negligent discharges.
The drills will never check the latrines unless its for a contraband check. They don't let trainees stay in the bays during (most) contraband checks. They'll check the vents where people keep stashing shit.
>>
>>64552742
Oh yeah also you should show up with a Casio F91W and never take it off, even to shower. Mine lasted all cycle, and since I never took it off I never lost it (everyone else lost theirs and had to shell out another 60 bucks at the PX for an army-branded G-Shock every sunday). Just loosen the band and slide it up and down your arm to get underneath or brush the sand out from under it. Same with your dog-tags.
Buy the cleaning kit at the PX first chance you get. Same with the facepaint.

Why would anyone care what a guy that got a BCD think? 92G actually did his time and was rightfully questioned about his poor decisions.

We had several uncs(30+) in my Army AIT, nobody cares if you're old, just do it.

Waiting around for HRC board results in December. What should be my contingency if I’m non-select for OCS? In the best shape of my life right now. Either 18X or debtmaxx then join the FFL?
>>
>>64553044
Depends on your goals. Have you looked into the other branches?
FFL is a terrible choice unless you're literally from Francophone Africa and are willing to do anything to escape your home country.
>>
>>64552926
Because theyre the only 2 that actually showed a dd214. Wasn't 92g also repeatedly dicked over by his unit or something and got out when no level of effort got him anything?

It shows how little control you have over your life once you agree.
>>

>>
>>64548349
Everyone is in the military for benefits at this point it's not like we're raiding trenches.
>>
Remember: it is your legal and moral obligation to disobey unlawful orders.
>>
>>64553153
Again, why should ANYONE care what a BCD thinks? Dude is clearly still butthurt over a decade later, and is now obsessed with talking about "illegal orders" even though he got kicked out for openly plotting mass murder of women and children.

The primary goal of /meg/ is to ensure what happened to 92G doesnt happen to anyone else. Anybody thay tries to derail and undermine our efforts is implicitly suggesting that they want more recruits to be uninformed. The disappearance of /meg/ will not reduce the number of people joining, but it will reduce the number of recruits that are informed prior to joining.

>/meg/ can prevent a unit from screwing people over.
>>
>>64554403
>The primary goal of /meg/ is to ensure what happened to 92G doesnt happen to anyone else.

Im not sure what happened to him after he got out but since he got an honorable (at least that's what I remember from his dd214 when he posed it) he qualified for the GI bill and VA benefits. Outside of a horrible career due to his mos he has access to everything /meg/ advocates for.
>>
>>64556465
When he told his sob story, multiple people broke down where he went wrong and what actions he could have taken. The most obvious was NOT FUCKING RE-ENLISTING WITHOUT A PLAN. Instead he fucked himself and did twice the time needed to get the benefits that >>64556657 mentions. 92G’s career was entirely avoidable, and although there will always be some suck, that man sat himself in front of a gloryhole and asked why he kept getting cocks shoved in his face, then thought sitting in front of a different gloryhole would have a different result.

Definition of insanity, kind of like the resident troll spending half a decade thinking he can get /meg/ banned by acting like a fool, and instead just keeps getting himself banned and costing himself half of his 30’s in exchange for a nickname and making a bad name for East Peoria, Illinois
