PA has a sale so I got a Nova 1-6 for like $280, let's find out how it handles the FAL instead of yet another guntuber high speed AR. Though in hindsight I should've bought a cantilever or higher rings, instead of the mediums I already had.

Today was a frustrating first day with the EBR chassis. Got a rough elevation and windage at 25 yards, was stacking rounds at 50, got a new target and moved to the 100 and it all fell apart. I'd have like two good shots and one crazy flyer. I messed with the barrel whip screw, and eventually dialed it in to the red circle, and then said fuck it and moved onto steel. The gas cylinder didn't budge which was good, but the screws that hold in the op rod block loosened, so hopefully I didn't lose my zero. When I go back out to the range I will shoot the same load of ammo instead of using a mix of match and ball ammo and hopefully have some more consistency.

>>
>>64552732
>century was a total no go? Did something change?
Boomer lore. Most are crap, some builds are good. Just Google who built what and decide to get it or not. It's how I got some nice RPk builds and a Yugo M76. People would thumb their noses because it said century, just to find out the people that built that batch were reputable builders and then are unobtaniun after being sold out.

>Did something change?
PTR got worse to the point that buying some 40-year-old FMP-made parts that they slapped together on behalf of Century is not going to get you any worse quality control than what PTR sells with their own brand name on it.
>>
>>64553209

>>
>>64553217
It makes your arms look disproportionate I'm trying to help. Ez off the roids there's nothing you can say to bother me I'm unbothered and moisturized. Also taller
>>
>>64553353
Let the record show that Mr. Dyel will in fact not post forearms that he claims are bigger and better than the defendant's own forearms. Let the record also show that Mr. Dyel thinks the defendant is on performance enhancing drugs, which is the best compliment that a natural bodybuilder can recieve. It should also be noted that Mr. Dyel has since moved to claiming he is now taller that the defendant, as he is too nervous to post his forearms and requires redirection.

The Court has determined that Mr. Dyel's unwillingness to provide proof of his better forearms as a final act of concession to the defendant. The Court thanks Mr. Dyel for conceding, as well as his compliments to the defendants natural physique.

Yeah, I basically have a list of things that need to change for the next range trip.
>use only 175gr for my zero
>get a better target for zeroing
>properly torque and loctite the oprod guide screws
>tighten down scope mount cantilever screws and base screw (they all loosened)
>discard the bipod and zero from a rest
>try setting the barrel whip screw to business card thickness
>mark all screws with a paint pen
>not be distracted when shooting/go alone
Hopefully all these things will help since they're all things that went wrong yesterday.

You get a GO from me. But I suggest a 20" bbl for 6.5cm would yield better velocity, which to me, give the 6.5cm the opportunity to advance it's strengths. If you want 14-16" bbl, just get the .308RFN.

460 rounds through the PA optics set up so far, everything is still rock solid even after I got the gun hot enough to cook the paint on the barrel. Hoping my adapter for my hub can comes in this weekend so I can try some suppressed shooting after Thanksgiving, if the range isn't packed.

You will never be sub MOA. You are not free floated, you are not bedded, you have no precision grade materials. You are a mid century battle rifle twisted by aftermarket accessories and gas cylinder unitization into a crude mockery of man's perfection. All the “validation” you get from noguns and video game nostalgia. Behind your back people think "wow, he could have bought a SCAR or an AR with half the price that would perform twice as well". Boomers are disgusted and ashamed of your chassis, your “fans” laugh at how front heavy you are behind closed doors. Professionals are utterly repulsed by you. Hundreds of years of the development of precision shooting have allowed them to sniff out rack rifles with incredible efficiency. Even EBRs who “maintain a level of accuracy” are obsolescent. The OP rod and gas piston is a dead giveaway of a rifle from a begone era. And even if you manage to get a sub MOA group, your zero will likely shift the second there is a moderate temperature or barometric pressure change. You will never be reliably accurate. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight. Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll be replaced by a bolt gun, AR-10 or one of many better rifles and enter the cold abyss of a gun safe. Your owner will remember you, heartbroken about the hopes and money put into "accurizing" but relieved that he comes to expect you are a 2-3 MOA battle rifle at best. He'll put a GI stock back on, and everyone will know you were a committee made replacement of the greatest battle implement ever devised with a criminally long development cycle. Your chassis will be listed and sold on gun broker or some sucker on M14 forums for a 150% markup because they did not want to wait for the backorder. This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.

A word of caution, C308's are hit or miss, I bought 2, 1 I returned before even shooting because the stock literally wobbled out of the gun, and the other has been a trailer park slampig of a rifle.

>shittalk a gun x5 cheaper but can actually work out the box
That's my EBR btw, I was just poking fun. After replacing the bedded stock with the chassis I actually didn't shoot quite well with it, hoping it was just due to some screws that walked out from the scope base and barrel block (I torqued them all to spec) and I can smooth things over the next time I go out.
>>
>>64559940
>2019
Yeah by then the issues had been worked out, but the 75th still uses SCAR's as their DMR/SPR.
>>
>>64559958
>M1A/M14
People really need to understand that it's not a fucking sniper rifle, a stock M14 has a average accuracy of 4 MOA, with some being better and some being worse. With some work on the stock and gas system you can tighten that up to 2MOA and with extensive work you can get under 1MOA but that is a hand tooled project gun that will require you to both work loads for, and know for a fact the torque specs for every thing on that rifle.
>inb4 disassembly for cleaning
How many people take bolt guns out of the chassis for cleaning? The M14 really doesn't get that dirty, the White Gas Piston is actually a noticeable upgrade from the M1.

Bachelor thanksgiving so pretty much whatever I want, spent too much time cooking last year so went easier. Not super on theme though.

Chicken drumsticks(brined)

Roast beef sliders & au jus

Cream cheese and sausage stuffed sweet peppers

Deviled eggs(secret is a touch of hot sauce for the vinegar)

Mashed potatoes

Last years cornbread attempt turned out bad enough that I'm gonna skip it. Might do a potato casserole too though to round things out
>>
>>64563663
Sure. Heat up sugar on a low heat until its liquid. Slice up Jalepenos. When sugar is liquid throw Jalepenos, seeds and all and some spices into the sugar, I used celery salts, garlic and paprika. Bring to boil then pour into a sealable container, should take about 5-8 mins max to cook. Can if possible for long term. Put in the fridge for at least 2 weeks. Result should be a spicy syrup and gummy like jalapeños.

Not him, but I liked mine and regret trading it for an M1 carbine. It was neat well balanced, and actually pretty solidly built/reliable. My only two complaints was that the sling and sling swivel it came with sucked, and the gas adjustments have like 40 settings but they aren't labeled, so it's hard to tell where you're at, whether your adding or taking away gas, etc.
>>
>>64566718
>the sling and sling swivel it came with sucked
I think "sucked" is a little mild for the Keltek RFB factory CARRY STRAP. It is hardly a sling and "sucks donkey balls" is closer to the truth. I recently went through my rifle box and fount my rcpt @$1699 in Obmama Bux. Higher than I remembered. $1300, or less, would be closer to the real value of this rifle. Btw, I tossed the box as adding no value to the item. I saved my FN PS90 box and a vintage Browning takedown box.

Previous anons have brought up mostly the gist of it, the sling it comes with sucks and the swivel is kind of annoying but serviceable, but its a well balanced, accurate enough rifle that has become my favorite gun. I got mine for ~1100 a few years ago and primarily run the FN surplus M80 ball or saltech. Having a good time shooting steel of varying sizes at 500yds.
I'm using a hux 7.62 flow ti right now and my gas settings don't seem to matter while i have it on. I know its not beating itself to death because everything is running smooth. If you can find one on the cheap you should absolutely go for it.

SOCOMs idea is retarded desu. 6.5 sneed outdoes .308 at range because of velocity, it needs to be going fast, and you get that with more barrel. Ideal length is 24"-26" but that's not really practical. You can compromise with probably 18" at least, anything shorter than that isn't a compromise for weight or ergos so much as it's just a waste of ammo.
Plus barrel life is only a few thousand rounds, I have no idea what the fuck SOCOM is thinking putting that into a carbine, even if it is a short marksman rifle

And that's how I blew the whole budget on a NRCH SCAR 17s. Now I need to save up for ammo, $60 mags, an optic, suppressor and gas regulator.
In the meantime, I'll hit up the 25 yard indoor range with both of my rifles and determine if 5 large fireballs or 20 medium fireballs is better.

>$60 mags

>$60 mags
Right now all the OEM magazines are sold out. More will come in the future, because the next generation SCAR 17 uses the same magazines it looks like from the leaks. As well as supply/demand. Before the d/c announcement magazines will commonly sub $50 per, I bet they'll return to that price in time. In the meantime I would definitely look into the aftermarket polymer magazines for use.

Honestly though what's going to screw you in the future is spare parts. You can get most of them aftermarket for now, but gl in the future.

Since you've got a brand new stock SCAR 17 personally I would sit on it, sell it for an inflated price in the future, and then buy the new generation of SCAR. Granted I say this without the new generation's specs/features, MSRP, etc. Also idk if it's even been adopted by any professional organization yet which is important.

No.
There were plans to sell welded ones for competition. A few were given out as prizes. The change in regulations scuttled the plan.
>>
>>64592265
only small parts iirc, not even stocks just like muzzle devices and rear sights
>>
The change in regulation actually gave springfield the impetus to make the M1A since they were not competing with gov surplus parts
>>
>>64592446
Springfield started with government parts and their impetus was the closure of the arsenal.
The current company calling themselves Springfield continued to use gov parts until the cheap supply dried up.

The Earth isn't running out, 90% of our Sulfur is under the crust. The issue is accessing this Sulfur.

Think we can trick the Chinese into cracking their crust open and turn their country into a stinky portal to hell?

And my milspec TRW bolts, recoild springs and trigger groups. Fwiw, I have seen the torch cut rcvrs. My machinist was stalling on milling a jig to reweld them.

So unobtainium.

They don't like barrels that are longer than their pp's.

So its not a powder shortage as much as its the US government buying up all the powder. Makes sense with the Venezuela stuff.

I look at these for RV conversion base.

Help me out if you would please, anons. Christmas overtime is starting to come in, and I can replace some of my stuff after getting the security and insurance situation improved.
Before I just go with the PTR+vortex again, what else should I look at with an upper limit of two grand? Not quite sure where the value proposition anymore is after a few years of inflation

If you want an optic I'd go with something minimalist like this. No permanent mods, doesn't add some weird extra bulk or break up the shape of the original gun, just replaces your rear sight.

All these "shortages" are fake and being used to manipulate the market. Even since covid there always seem to be a shortage of something.
>How do we make a profit this quarter with the same quantity?
>Let's have a inside plant I mean leaker say there's a shortage to the MSM.
>>
>>64600718
>these "shortages" are fake
AAC laying of 50 employees doesn't sound fake.
>>
>>64600819
Its possible they overextended their lines and any temporary shortages causes them to have to shutter lines. The root cause is the US government buying up all the powder, not a supply chain issue.
>>
I personally feel these are over priced, but can see that they will only go up from here. I have gotten DSA refurb mags before and found them to be the highest quality. I think I have 4 of these inchers from a previous buy, so I'm out. Have at it, men.

Appears he didn't know what he had. I would buy these and feel no regrets reselling at $200/ea. My 4 were also from DSA and ~$75/ea, iifc. Yes, I would resell them at market price.
>>
>>64603353
the guy even said to me "these are for the inch patern. You sure thats what you have." I was stunned. Didn't even try to negotiate. I took all of them plus all the 20 round mags he had for $25 a piece

EBR anon reporting back again. I figured out how to make this reasonably accurate with my middling ability. Sure enough that barrel whip screw has a ton to do with keeping the rifle accurate. Its basically voodoo. Also I had my identity stolen, some asshole opened two lines of credit last month but luckily I caught it early and shut everything down, so good news bad news I guess.
>>
>>64604213
>caught it early
Do you use Lifelock?
>>
>>64604531
Nah, just checked my credit karma. They opened accounts in early November and I found out the other night. Word to the wise, make accounts with the major credit bureaus and chex now, and consider putting freezes on your credit report if you don't plan on taking any new loans in the near future. The asshole who stole my identity registered for accounts with the credit bureaus and it was kind of a PITA to get them under control or at least locked in the case of Experian.
