Goooood morning
>>64543643Nice steak and beautiful rifle
>>64543406Does anyone know who makes these blank, M14 flash suppressors? I live in a ban state (pls no bully) and the comp on my M1A is getting annoying at my local 300 yard range.
>>64544012Here you go my ninja https://www.lrbarms.com/store/p36/FLASH_SUPPRESSOR%2C_DUMMY.html
Range weekend makes the last minute work requests bearable. 100 rounds of M80 are going to be dented brass tomorrow. Multiple paper targets must have holes put in them.
Gearing up to grab one, worth it? Could have sworn I heard mumblings awhile back here that the springs weren't replaced and might break
>>64545002Mine arrives Monday. Tomorrow I will be picking up some generously donated HK parts and mags from my gunsmith friend. I'm super hopeful about this bad boy.
>>64543662Thanks kingJust ate a lb of salmon steak. Feeling protein maxxx'd. Gotta get that 250g per day.
>>64545280>Gotta get that 250g per daydo you really
>>64545280>>64545294Gotta be strong to handle the chaddle rifle
PA has a sale so I got a Nova 1-6 for like $280, let's find out how it handles the FAL instead of yet another guntuber high speed AR. Though in hindsight I should've bought a cantilever or higher rings, instead of the mediums I already had.

>>64546119also my haul from the other week. got the CETME ,308 for a surprisingly good price, especially having bought it from a boomer.

>>64546351I used to have a routine where I ate a ton of protein every day and would go to the gym for about 90 minutes twice a day. I gained a ~40 pounds of good weight, but stopped because of the chest pains and falling asleep at the wheel on the way home from work. Took its toll.

>>64545518>>64546079I know the chassis is Sage, but can the stock on its own be bought?

>>64551892>>64551981>>64552287>>64552405Fuck you.
Today was a frustrating first day with the EBR chassis. Got a rough elevation and windage at 25 yards, was stacking rounds at 50, got a new target and moved to the 100 and it all fell apart. I'd have like two good shots and one crazy flyer. I messed with the barrel whip screw, and eventually dialed it in to the red circle, and then said fuck it and moved onto steel. The gas cylinder didn't budge which was good, but the screws that hold in the op rod block loosened, so hopefully I didn't lose my zero. When I go back out to the range I will shoot the same load of ammo instead of using a mix of match and ball ammo and hopefully have some more consistency.
>>64552420Still looked great at least
>>64545002>>64545171I thought century was a total no go? Did something change?

>>64552732>century was a total no go? Did something change?Boomer lore. Most are crap, some builds are good. Just Google who built what and decide to get it or not. It's how I got some nice RPk builds and a Yugo M76. >>64552732>Did something change?PTR got worse to the point that buying some 40-year-old FMP-made parts that they slapped together on behalf of Century is not going to get you any worse quality control than what PTR sells with their own brand name on it.
>>64553209>M-muh forearms are bigger! Not me, fucking kek. Let's see your gigantic forearms. You need to work on quite literally your entire body dyel.
>>64553217It makes your arms look disproportionate I'm trying to help. Ez off the roids there's nothing you can say to bother me I'm unbothered and moisturized. Also taller
>>64553353Let the record show that Mr. Dyel will in fact not post forearms that he claims are bigger and better than the defendant's own forearms. Let the record also show that Mr. Dyel thinks the defendant is on performance enhancing drugs, which is the best compliment that a natural bodybuilder can recieve. It should also be noted that Mr. Dyel has since moved to claiming he is now taller that the defendant, as he is too nervous to post his forearms and requires redirection. The Court has determined that Mr. Dyel's unwillingness to provide proof of his better forearms as a final act of concession to the defendant. The Court thanks Mr. Dyel for conceding, as well as his compliments to the defendants natural physique.

460 rounds through the PA optics set up so far, everything is still rock solid even after I got the gun hot enough to cook the paint on the barrel. Hoping my adapter for my hub can comes in this weekend so I can try some suppressed shooting after Thanksgiving, if the range isn't packed.
You will never be sub MOA. You are not free floated, you are not bedded, you have no precision grade materials. You are a mid century battle rifle twisted by aftermarket accessories and gas cylinder unitization into a crude mockery of man's perfection. All the “validation” you get from noguns and video game nostalgia. Behind your back people think "wow, he could have bought a SCAR or an AR with half the price that would perform twice as well". Boomers are disgusted and ashamed of your chassis, your “fans” laugh at how front heavy you are behind closed doors. Professionals are utterly repulsed by you. Hundreds of years of the development of precision shooting have allowed them to sniff out rack rifles with incredible efficiency. Even EBRs who “maintain a level of accuracy” are obsolescent. The OP rod and gas piston is a dead giveaway of a rifle from a begone era. And even if you manage to get a sub MOA group, your zero will likely shift the second there is a moderate temperature or barometric pressure change. You will never be reliably accurate. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight. Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll be replaced by a bolt gun, AR-10 or one of many better rifles and enter the cold abyss of a gun safe. Your owner will remember you, heartbroken about the hopes and money put into "accurizing" but relieved that he comes to expect you are a 2-3 MOA battle rifle at best. He'll put a GI stock back on, and everyone will know you were a committee made replacement of the greatest battle implement ever devised with a criminally long development cycle. Your chassis will be listed and sold on gun broker or some sucker on M14 forums for a 150% markup because they did not want to wait for the backorder. This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.
>>64559704k
>>64545002A word of caution, C308's are hit or miss, I bought 2, 1 I returned before even shooting because the stock literally wobbled out of the gun, and the other has been a trailer park slampig of a rifle.

>>64559926No kidding? My only experience was shooting an M110 in 2019 with some snipers, they made it seem easy, but I guess by then any issues were worked out.
>>64559926>>64559940>shittalk a gun x5 cheaper but can actually work out the boxThat's my EBR btw, I was just poking fun. After replacing the bedded stock with the chassis I actually didn't shoot quite well with it, hoping it was just due to some screws that walked out from the scope base and barrel block (I torqued them all to spec) and I can smooth things over the next time I go out.
>>64559940>2019Yeah by then the issues had been worked out, but the 75th still uses SCAR's as their DMR/SPR.
>>64559958>M1A/M14People really need to understand that it's not a fucking sniper rifle, a stock M14 has a average accuracy of 4 MOA, with some being better and some being worse. With some work on the stock and gas system you can tighten that up to 2MOA and with extensive work you can get under 1MOA but that is a hand tooled project gun that will require you to both work loads for, and know for a fact the torque specs for every thing on that rifle. >inb4 disassembly for cleaning How many people take bolt guns out of the chassis for cleaning? The M14 really doesn't get that dirty, the White Gas Piston is actually a noticeable upgrade from the M1.

>>64563470My wife and I are far from home because of work. Not going to cook a traditional meal per say, but I'll be making a ham some potatos, and green beans. Your plan sounds great, I'm sure the family will love it.
>>64563470Im going over to my parents. Making cornbread(cake) and a couple spreads. Candied Jalepenos are awesome anons, great on cream cheese, they just take weeks to finish.
>>64563600Always great to spend time with those close for a meal and just enjoy the time.>>64563610Have recipes for those? Just in time for Christmas batch if it takes time.
>>64563470Bachelor thanksgiving so pretty much whatever I want, spent too much time cooking last year so went easier. Not super on theme though.Chicken drumsticks(brined)Roast beef sliders & au jusCream cheese and sausage stuffed sweet peppersDeviled eggs(secret is a touch of hot sauce for the vinegar)Mashed potatoesLast years cornbread attempt turned out bad enough that I'm gonna skip it. Might do a potato casserole too though to round things out
>>64563663Sure. Heat up sugar on a low heat until its liquid. Slice up Jalepenos. When sugar is liquid throw Jalepenos, seeds and all and some spices into the sugar, I used celery salts, garlic and paprika. Bring to boil then pour into a sealable container, should take about 5-8 mins max to cook. Can if possible for long term. Put in the fridge for at least 2 weeks. Result should be a spicy syrup and gummy like jalapeños.
>>64563698Too bitter? I flubbed up many a cornbread forgetting about baking soda being a bitch. Im a yeast baker mostly.
>>64563698>Bachelor thanksgivingAlways good practice and your choices looks awesome for variety. Cooking skills are a must once have crotch droppings running around the house. Just be sure to share with them the knowledge. Too many parents any age group complain their kids don't know how to do anything. Like who's fucking fault is that
>>64563754>ThE sChOoLs ShOuLd Be TeAcHiNg ThAt!!!Always what I heard from my parents even though they both went through public schools and know how worthless like 75% of what you learn in school is. Like I may not now how to cook, do my taxes, or function in society. But hey I can find the area of a triangle like a champ!
>>64563767not know*
>>64563767>Schools should teach every single life skill the parents never got around teachingI took Home Economics in HS since it was 95% female and the majority of the dudes were gay just so I could talk to the other girls. I totally tanked with the girls as an autistic retard, but best damn choice ever for learning how to do basic cooking stuff and not burn the house down using a toaster.
>>64563700Thanks going to give this a go later in the week. Will see if can hit the range with the Century CA3 and see how it shoots and zero red dot in for it. Grab some canning stuff on way back from range and give the jalapenos a go.
Christmas came early, finally I can shoot my BR suppressed plus another 800 rounds to shoot.
>>64563939woah nice
>>64563470>What's /brg/ cooking up for ThanksgivingStill moving, still. I think I'll take to.orrow off, today was a big day and I earned a break. Plus, recovered to schedule ...w/3 helpers. Solo so far.
>>64563698>potato casseroleTry a Cracker Barrel hashbrown cassarole copycat recipe. Mine get all scarffed.
>>64560269Hhow do you like the RFB? Been kicking the can of buying one down the road for ages, next year if all goes well I might just do it.
>>64566560Not him, but I liked mine and regret trading it for an M1 carbine. It was neat well balanced, and actually pretty solidly built/reliable. My only two complaints was that the sling and sling swivel it came with sucked, and the gas adjustments have like 40 settings but they aren't labeled, so it's hard to tell where you're at, whether your adding or taking away gas, etc.
>>64566718>the sling and sling swivel it came with suckedI think "sucked" is a little mild for the Keltek RFB factory CARRY STRAP. It is hardly a sling and "sucks donkey balls" is closer to the truth. I recently went through my rifle box and fount my rcpt @$1699 in Obmama Bux. Higher than I remembered. $1300, or less, would be closer to the real value of this rifle. Btw, I tossed the box as adding no value to the item. I saved my FN PS90 box and a vintage Browning takedown box.
>>64566560Previous anons have brought up mostly the gist of it, the sling it comes with sucks and the swivel is kind of annoying but serviceable, but its a well balanced, accurate enough rifle that has become my favorite gun. I got mine for ~1100 a few years ago and primarily run the FN surplus M80 ball or saltech. Having a good time shooting steel of varying sizes at 500yds.I'm using a hux 7.62 flow ti right now and my gas settings don't seem to matter while i have it on. I know its not beating itself to death because everything is running smooth. If you can find one on the cheap you should absolutely go for it.
Thankful that /brg/ back to being wholesome general it usually is.>>64565497Hope move goes smoothly and enjoy the days as ya want to enjoy them.
>>64567017>It is hardly a sling and "sucks donkey balls" is closer to the truthHah I guess I was being nice about it.
>>64560600>My HK gunsmith buddyWhat's he charge to build an FMP parts kit with the barrel?

>>64568074The best correct answer.
>>64568034Get another one.
>>64568301He should get a 16 carbine and put a can on it first.
Good night Pg.7 turkeyday fans.
>>64569282GN, hope you had a good Thanks giving
Cold leftovers in a dinner roll as a breakfast sandwich is peak, stuffing is great in a sandwich. Now to debate whether I deal with the crowds/traffic to go to the range or gun store.
>>64545002ordered mine this morning Im excited itll be my first battle rifle.
Fellow M1A owners here, have any of you tried the Treeline kevlar reinforced USGI fiberglass stocks?
>>64573059>Treeline kevlar reinforced USGI fiberglass stocks? That's just great, but I've never had any issue with mine.
Anon, why won't you let yourself buy a main battle tank to go with your main battle riffle?
>>64573225I think they're afraid. It really is just a choice.
>>64573225You would have less problems with a 25 year old PT Cruiser.
>>64573225I literally can't buy tires for my own fucking truck right now. The reason the ones you want are out of stock. Can you order more? No. Why? Because that would require picking up the phone or typing in numbers in an inventory, that's a lot effort you know. Almost had a fucking aneurysm in Fleet Farm today because wagies are too stupid to do the most basic task.
>>64573264PT Cruisers have crossed the Rubicon into being actually pretty cool nowIt's those dastardly (2008) Kia Rondos you have to watch out for!
>>64573217No flex to worry about with your fiberglass? Did using one improve the MOA of your rifle by an appreciable amount?
>>64556829SOCOMs idea is retarded desu. 6.5 sneed outdoes .308 at range because of velocity, it needs to be going fast, and you get that with more barrel. Ideal length is 24"-26" but that's not really practical. You can compromise with probably 18" at least, anything shorter than that isn't a compromise for weight or ergos so much as it's just a waste of ammo. Plus barrel life is only a few thousand rounds, I have no idea what the fuck SOCOM is thinking putting that into a carbine, even if it is a short marksman rifle
>>64559142Guarantee I'll put you in a mating press fag, looking all cute and fuckable
>>64566718>>64567083Cheers fellas, I'll post it here when I eventually get one
>>64573230I fear having to be financially responsible for any vehicle with maintenance costs above a BMW.
>>64575087>maintenance costs above a BMW.Are they high?
>>64576561Is a heavy buffer recommended for just general shooting with a CA3 rifle? I know it's a thing if you're running suppressed, I just don't want the receiver being damaged from the rollers over time.
>>64576561Disregard >>64576868
>>64576877I disregard a lot on 4chins.
>>64576561When something does break on a BMW it can cost quite a bit. They can last forever though if you maintain them.
>>64554481>no chrome or nitride lining of bore>>64563206I believe that was a broken firing pin
>>64578545Good news! I have all the tools to swap barrels on FALs.
>>64578545>no chromeThat’s fine.
>>64563538>that is a Century C308Which were assembled by PTR under contract to Century, just like the CA-3. >pic related
Trading up my sl7 for one with the vented handguard and nicer wood. Will poast pics when it gets here
>>64580495>Trading up my sl7 for one with the vented handguardPreferred, I suppose. Buy condition, condition, condition! Just like choosing a gf, don't become dazzled by the first few slots you see.
>>64559704Yep best just to keep the wood
>>64583589Nice VLTOR rail, how do you like it?
>>64573350Special forces for some reason are allergic to calibers in the proper barrel lengths.
>bought nugget 10 years ago>want to buy a semi auto 7.62>research time>try hard to avoid AR-10>not a huge fan of M14 clones>SCAR's got discontinued recently>G3's are cool>settle on PTR-91 + PTR Vent 1>willing to shell out for HK-91, if they have 'em and if they aren't shitty>head to lgs to do prints for suppressor and check out guns>"sorry anon, G3 clones banned in this state">then why is it available on your website when I filter by state?>alright what else you got in .308?>"half a dozen different AR-10s, some m14 clones, might have an AK pattern...">"oh and we just got a SCAR yesterday, not something we usually stock">fuck it, let me see that belgian waffleAnd that's how I blew the whole budget on a NRCH SCAR 17s. Now I need to save up for ammo, $60 mags, an optic, suppressor and gas regulator. In the meantime, I'll hit up the 25 yard indoor range with both of my rifles and determine if 5 large fireballs or 20 medium fireballs is better.
>>64587562>$60 magsMags might be the first to dry up... jez sayin'.
>>64587562>$60 magsRight now all the OEM magazines are sold out. More will come in the future, because the next generation SCAR 17 uses the same magazines it looks like from the leaks. As well as supply/demand. Before the d/c announcement magazines will commonly sub $50 per, I bet they'll return to that price in time. In the meantime I would definitely look into the aftermarket polymer magazines for use.Honestly though what's going to screw you in the future is spare parts. You can get most of them aftermarket for now, but gl in the future.Since you've got a brand new stock SCAR 17 personally I would sit on it, sell it for an inflated price in the future, and then buy the new generation of SCAR. Granted I say this without the new generation's specs/features, MSRP, etc. Also idk if it's even been adopted by any professional organization yet which is important.
>>64587893>personally I would sit on it,>'cuz, you know...>what you gotI am commonly suprised by 1998 Camero with 2400 miles at auction for >2x original mspr. Or '02 Toyota Supra same story. A few years down the line, NIB carries a premium. I myself am sitting on NIB Brownell's BRN-10 waffle mags (clamshell). Waiting for what? I don't know.

>>64588156hello
>>64587893>>64587981while I appreciate the sentiment, I kinda plan on shooting it rather than as an investment piece. If it lasts until the SCAR 2.0 has all it's shit worked worked out, I'll buy one of those or go for some other battle rifle when the time comes.Budget wise, I only put $1000 a month towards hobby stuff so I'll prob get a suppressor in Jan when the tax stamp cost goes away.
>>64588479Smart, that's my plan as well going into the future. I suggest that you buy some spare parts now.
>>64587562Mags will come down in a few months after the panic is over. They confimred that they will be making mags for years to come.
How are we feeling about ammo prices in the next 6 months? Buy now? Even more of a slump? Nothing ever happens and we're stuck at 65-70 forever?
>>64591238I heard some rumors that ammo might get tight again due to a sulfur shortage, but this also could very well be *insiders* spreading rumors to cause a surge in demand.
>>64591380>a sulfur shortagePretty sure the earth is running out of sulfer, it is a finite resource. I will now be monitoring peak sulfure production, in addition to all my other concerns.
>>64591380>but this also could very well be *insiders* spreading rumors to cause a surge in demandWe need to go and beat the idiots that pull this shit with hammers>Hurr durr Lake City isnt doing civ ammo anymore BUY BUY BUY!Someone somewhere put out a memo that 5.56 is not to go below 40cpr, and I'm gonna find them
>>64563206stuck iring pin?
wait were m14s ever surplused out to civies?
Are DSA cast receivers *that* bad still or did they fix their shit? I have a chance of getting an Imbel parts kit for under $800 and I see DSA has a sale on a type 1 style cast receiver for under $300. I own the tools already to build a FAL so that cost has already been paid for.
>>64592265No.There were plans to sell welded ones for competition. A few were given out as prizes. The change in regulations scuttled the plan.
>>64592265only small parts iirc, not even stocks just like muzzle devices and rear sights
The change in regulation actually gave springfield the impetus to make the M1A since they were not competing with gov surplus parts
>>64592446Springfield started with government parts and their impetus was the closure of the arsenal. The current company calling themselves Springfield continued to use gov parts until the cheap supply dried up.

Help me out if you would please, anons. Christmas overtime is starting to come in, and I can replace some of my stuff after getting the security and insurance situation improved. >>64591412All these "shortages" are fake and being used to manipulate the market. Even since covid there always seem to be a shortage of something. >How do we make a profit this quarter with the same quantity? >Let's have a inside plant I mean leaker say there's a shortage to the MSM.
>>64600718>these "shortages" are fakeAAC laying of 50 employees doesn't sound fake.
>>64600819Its possible they overextended their lines and any temporary shortages causes them to have to shutter lines. The root cause is the US government buying up all the powder, not a supply chain issue.
I personally feel these are over priced, but can see that they will only go up from here. I have gotten DSA refurb mags before and found them to be the highest quality. I think I have 4 of these inchers from a previous buy, so I'm out. Have at it, men.

>>64603353the guy even said to me "these are for the inch patern. You sure thats what you have." I was stunned. Didn't even try to negotiate. I took all of them plus all the 20 round mags he had for $25 a piece
>>64603488Now I am happy in my pants.
EBR anon reporting back again. I figured out how to make this reasonably accurate with my middling ability. Sure enough that barrel whip screw has a ton to do with keeping the rifle accurate. Its basically voodoo. Also I had my identity stolen, some asshole opened two lines of credit last month but luckily I caught it early and shut everything down, so good news bad news I guess.
>>64604213>caught it earlyDo you use Lifelock?
>>64604531Nah, just checked my credit karma. They opened accounts in early November and I found out the other night. Word to the wise, make accounts with the major credit bureaus and chex now, and consider putting freezes on your credit report if you don't plan on taking any new loans in the near future. The asshole who stole my identity registered for accounts with the credit bureaus and it was kind of a PITA to get them under control or at least locked in the case of Experian.
