What do we think of the Su-57?
>>
>>64547805
I think it looks pretty neat, it's a shame it's built and operated by monkeys. Cowardly monkeys at that who lack the stones to let it loose and let us see it work because heaven forbid we let our weapons system get in harms way. What kind of madman are you? Next you'll say boats ought to be put in the ocean and get melted by saltwater

a ridiculous flying barn door and mechanism for high level graft in a third world dicatorship that can't handle it's real place in the world alongside west africa and nigeria and had to build a dumb showpiece 'stealth' plane with the same stealth ability as a flying elephant held together with off the shelf phillips head screws bought of alibaba as the money was siphoned away for blow, hookers and confiscated super yachts while a fair percentage of the population have no indoor toilets or hot water.

If Russia had marketed the Su-57 as a 4.5++ Gen fighter, and had gotten the new engines working, and had been able to achieve a decent rate-of-production, then I would respect the Su-57.
As it currently stands however, I point and laugh.

It's okay. I hope they stop making excuses and put the F-22 exhaust nozzles on it soon.
>>
>>64547805
I think it looks good from the outside. The cockpit looks really hard to work in from the perspective of a (student) pilot. I don't have any credible opinion, but its probably not as good as it's contemporaries.
>>
>>64547805
I'd think more about it if it actually sortied.
>>
>>64547805
Very sexy, but a 4.5gen at best, because Russia
Realistically it's probably better than anything that Ukraine can field right now, but wouldn't fare too well against an actual NATO air force

oh and I have heard rumours the internal weapons bay doesn't have a pressure equalizing mechanism
If they actually deployed this bitch it would get shot out of the sky

The internal weapons bay is tricky
If you put a missle in it and seal it will contain 1atm pressure
but as you go high up it drops to say 0,2atm
you need to equalize this otherwise it will want to blow open the entire time
from what I have heard this is complicated if you want your jet to be stealth
if you just leave an opening (what Russians probably did) it further fucks up the sealth since there is a gap/opening

The Su-57 got thoroughly humiliated on social media when one made an appearance at a chink air show last year.
The build quality was every bit as bad as one could imagine.
You know it's bad when even chinks can't stop lmaoing @ it

can you elaborate on the cockpit please? looks like your average glass cockpit to me

I think it’s an overhyped piece of shit.
>>
>>64548053
The stick is way too close to the ejection handle and the MFD. Apparently the MFD is touch screen and uses buttons so I'll give it a pass. I assumed the presence of buttons made it non touch screen. Also the MFD looks a little low since they also put an HUD with its own screen above it. On the F-35 its more at your chest level, but on the felon it's closer to waist level I'd estimate. I wouldn't want to be craning my head down to use it. Again I'm literally unqualified, just my .02
>>
>>64547877
>y-you’re just mad at our shitty 4+ gen cargo cult plane that we can’t even mass-produce
No, in fact it’s very hilarious, a comedy routine even.
>>
>>64548053
One more hing about the cockpit that nobody mentions IMO
"glass" cockpit
Glass is ransparent to radar
F22 and F35 havehis golden tint to their canopies
Indium itatium oxide (as far as we know) layer that reduces radar cross section
Su-57 doesn't look like it is using it
>>
>>64548071
I think it has an ar headset so you wont have to look at the screens

Russia needs stealth bombers to actually impose good damage on Ukrainian infrastructure.

Glide bombs don't fly farther than 200kms, missiles are expensive and shaheds are weak.
>>
>>64548360
Sadly, Russian 'stealth' doesn't actually work against western AD.
But good luck I guess, Patriot, NASM and IRIS-T will take the free marketing.
>>
>>64548354
yes but those are a must
Inakes cane be S-duckted and exhausts can have advanced geometry
Not on SU-57 however
why is why it's radar cross section is massive
>>
>>64548360
Is that WEBM from Bakhmut?
>>
>>64548389
You could link it up to the inside of the intake and either use a passive or active design for the exchange of air/pressure
>>
>>64548528
so why did ziggers just leave a gap at the internal weapons bay?
are they stupid?

Maybe a stupid question, but wouldn't something as simple as this do the trick?
>>
Remember, it has the same RCS of an F18 HYPOTHETICALLY if built to spec. And given how we’ve seen tons of pics of these planes with production errors that increase surface area and the corner cutting. So the RCS is probably far larger on average.

It’s a “fifth gen stealth jet” that’s as stealthy as a 4th gen western non stealth jet.
>>
The Su 57 is definitely better than the 4th gen j20 made by west taiwan.
>>
>>64549066
and yet the didn't do this
they just left a gap between the panels
Fucking up the radar cross section even more
>>
>>64549096
In fairness to them, simple in concept doesn't necessarily mean simple in execution - as I understand, things are packed quite tightly in a jet like that and adding a vent hole like that might not be a trivial task
>>
>>64547805
Underrated. But at least they are caught up now. I want to see what intesting things they do with it desu.
>>
>>64549096
They would have to move alot of other shit around.

I honestly dont understand the point of creating modulation when they retire it way too quickly.

Personally i think modulation is a great idea since the status quo is just copying off of one another.
>>
nothing, why would I think anything about something that doesn't exist? they they built like 30 of them
>>
>>64549170
>underrated
you can only say this if you're a newfag who wasn't here for the constant fucking glazing that retards were giving it before it crashed and before people realized it was a cargo cult project that would never be built in numbers.
>but at least they are caught up now
they're not even caught up with european 4th gens lmao.

There's lots of things that werent mentioned in the patent that theyve added to the SU57. They have so many variants its foolish to assume they aren't upgrading it as they go as well.

NTA but using the trefoil for no ionizing radiation is incorrect.
However I don't entirely blame them for going with it because the non ionizing radiation hazard symbol is really vague looking and also dumb

You mean the ISO standard radiating cell tower antenna sign or are there others?
I'd say it's great, but it's probably the reason why 5G schizos exist.
>>
The only potentially interesting thing about it is the 101KS-0 DIRCM being the first application of such a device on a fast-jet aircraft.
It being Russian though, I'm sceptical if the pointer/tracker system lives up to the kind of performance needed

Flying arma...>>64547809
Damnit! Anon got it first.
>>
>>64552018
It's probably similar to Nemesis DIRCM and other western systems but with less reliable jamming for a multitude of reasons.

Either way there's just no point in mounting those on a fighter unless your pilots are trained to submissively show their belly to incoming missiles and maintain steady flight.
>>
>>64551921
that's not true though
>>
>>64547843
Russia was on track with the su57 until they invaded Crimea. The sanctions they got in 2014 made them quietly mothball it.
>>
>>64552856
I think they accelerated su-57 production, other projects were destroyed though like their AWACS program
>>
>>64551985
It's this one.
I just think it's underwhelming. I suppose it gets the point across but normies will probably just think "radio" and that's it.
>>
>>64552856
>>64552861
I mean, they did suddenly get cut off from all of the chips and tech needed to make Su-57 and A-100.
Idiots in the Kremlin.
>>
>>64552861
>other projects were destroyed though like their AWACS program
I wonder what contingency they have for that?
Buy Chinese I guess. Must be galling.

Probably better cope to adapt the A100 to Chinese components, even if it means a 2040 production date.
>>
>>64553624
Fighterbomber says they have been coping by using their more modern flankers and mig-31s as air controllers as they mare much more survivable and their radars are reasonably powerful
>>
>>64555120
It hadn't occurred to me that there would be CAP pilots in Russia watching a wave of ukie drones appear on radar and I guess Russia must have a datalink from there to command to the air defence cuckold.
>>
