Paul Harrel recommends your SHTF gun have a 20" barrel with 1:7 twist
Radicals RF15 comes with an 16-18" barrels and 1:7 twist
Do those 2-4 inches make a difference in terms of stabilization of heavier ammo?
Does the difference in velocity matter in terms of penetration?

Looking for opinions over numbers.

Assuming I'm using them with a suppressor at all times, how much do muzzle devices really matter? For example:

They matter a lot with flow through cans they can completely change the performance, with regular cans not as much. Brake is better to reduce baffle erosion

Where did all my /nvg/ers go??

>>64618074
Quality is almost there but I'd wait for all the people that got one in the last month to start hitting meaningful round counts. IRIS/M6TR is still your best bet under $1k, though it's nice seeing dummy cheap units being produced to drive competition. Laser on the trinity emits directly in line with the bore, so no FSP compatibility but otherwise a plus. Side mounted battery is sweet and the independently adjustable laser/illuminator power is awesome, probably my favorite feature. At this point the question is will they actually maintain zero for extended round counts.

>>64617991
You already fucked up the first step which is to buy an in-spec receiver set...but, assuming it is, just buy a spare BCG or at least bolt since it sounds like you'll be shooting steel (don't). There's other things you could to like check gas port alignment and dimple your gas block, make sure the gas key on the BCG is tight, gas rings are g2g, but why bother.

>the sling mount and ergos got me all fucked up
unfortunately, the aug rail space is very limited unless I go full ugo and get the front sleeve rail.
The modbutton is alright, c-clamp for using a light, but the front sling mount placement did suck. I had tried the offset sling mount on the top rail but it got in the way of the charging handle.
>>
I did it bros, I finally purchased the Sig Sauer Romeo 8T-AMR Combo package. I won.
>>
Should I do it bros? Should I get the Sig Sauer clip on thermal for around 2.5k? Is it better than the RH25v2 I spent an ass load on...?
>>
>>64618660
Fuck no. If you have a rh25 you will gain virtually nothing buying that. If you want another clip on for some reason there are far better options. Tbh i wish i never went the clip on mount. Id rather have a dedicated thermal on a lt101 that will rtz and a day optic on the same riser and swap between them as needed.

I fail to see what it can do that a monocular for scanning cant. Thats just added weight and batteries imo. The refresh and res are good for a unit of that size but that low of res on a screen that small seems useless ime

The demand may have dropped but the interest has grown. And I'd only say it dropped bc we've had 2-3 major market waves of nightvision being trendy, and now most of the people who wanted nods has them. The market is now shifting towards products/services/training for the now substantial population of shooters with nightvision. Idk why you specify analog, as if anybody takes digital seriously, or is going to in the next few years (eventually though, I admit).

>>64618761
For $600 surprisingly good. I have more shitty pics of 50y and 200y. 3/5 hits at 100y with an 11.5", pretty sure the other two went high judging by the string and 50y zero (plus I intentionally took it on/off a couple times to test the return to zero of the ADM QD).

It has no advanced features - doesn't record or take pics, doesn't zoom*, doesn't have a temperature gauge or any real sensitivity settings. But it gives you a very clean and responsive picture with surprising amount of detail (and decent reticle/palette options). Also, once it's powered on the top button is a screen on/off button, so you can keep it dark until you want to check

*weird but, it has 0.5x magnification and then just 1x (which feels zoomed albeit artificially), 0.5x is far more useful for scanning and general use

>>64618807
Assuming you mean handheld mono given the price range? Honestly with the QD, i generally keep mine in my pocket (esp in the winter) and use it as a handheld way more than an offset. But the obvious thing it can do over a simple handheld is mount to a weapon, and I'd argue it might be more durable (being rated for recoil?). Other thermals in that price range might have had a slight advantage in zoom (going to maybe 2x-4x?) but usually less on the refresh (though I think I was seeing some with 50hz which isn't bad). The whole weapon mounting thing and already being zeroed and able to shoot at the thermal signature you picked up while scanning is pretty next level compared to handhelds

Id need to play with one but scanning with the tiny screen and limited fov seems like ass to acquire any target and identify it. The touch screen also seems like a horrible idea as far as durability and ergos are concerned. It seems like a dedicated thermal and offset or stacked dot would be better in every way
>>
>>64618955
checked. If anything it's great for scanning, just leaves me wanting more magnification. But for the price I don't think you can beat it in terms of performance and functionality unless you need a feature like video recording. I'm less worried about the touchscreen and more worried about the thermal sensor on the front desu

lol no. d2 is good as far as the illuminator and ir laser performance but it's huge and it will gt in the way and b annoying for daytime shooting.
I really like the holosun iris due to its small footprint, adequate performance, and relatively low cost. It's biggest weaknesses are ones that don't really matter for most people which are /
>1. doesn't have a daylight bright vis laser
>2. the illuminator struggles to push through opposing white light
Point 2. only matters if you are intentionally making it harder for yourself or if you're in a department/agency in which case you can just get something good and full powered so it need not apply.

CR2s. Advertised at 5 hours. I've been using ultrafire 800mah rechargeables and it's noticeably lower than disposables (which seem like they last well beyond 5 hours if you turn the screen off when you set the rifle down). Sig Sauer romeo 9t for $2400, I'm doing it.
>>
Just installed Radian Talon ambi safety on my AR. Tried both 90 degree and 45 degree and 45 is considerably harder to engage. I need to use like 200% as much force as when on 90. And 90 is still 200% harder than default safety selector on my AR. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

No, youre talking about experiencing it with incorrect magnification
A RH25 or similar has a 92ft fov at 100yd which is almost 3x the FOV of a typical prism optic like an ACOG or ELCAN
Behind a nx8 2.5-20x @ 2x the RH25 has 2x the horizontal FOV that the optic does.

Where would you all recommend I should look around if I want to get a DD Mk12, but in the gray version?
It doesn’t look like it’s produced anymore, so I would have to get it from somewhere it’s resold
Or should I just buy a new black one and get it coated myself somewhere? Would there be any difference between the production coat and a 3rd-party company coat?
Also other question I have is that with it being an 18-inch barrel, what ACOG would work best on it? The military models are for either 14.5 or 20 inch barrels
And I would rather have meters not yards for the measurements

I wouldn't take these peoples bitching about PSA seriously. My buddy who doesn't shoot much got his ar as cheap as possible from them a few years ago, I think he spent 350-400 total and it's still going strong after a few thousand rounds. The worst you'll have to do is take it apart and make sure they put all the pieces in the right way.
