It pre-dated the Mini and Micro UZI and none of the parts interchange, but the principles are the same. Both are a straight blowback open bolt SMG with a telescoping bolt and magazine inserted into the grip. UZI is much more sophisticated overall with features like adjustable sights, a grip safety and a non reciprocating charging handle. The only thing going for the MAC is how streamlined and simplified it is, but with the UZI already being cheap enough that besieged Croatians could stamp them out while getting bombed I think that answered a question nobody was asking.

It was originally made to replace the M1911 as a more capable side arm and did see some use as suppressed weapon for special forces in Vietnam. A lot of people dont know that, but it was actually in Govt service for a short duration and they did have a contract with the Govt. I would only own a semi auto one if it were one of the rare open bolt semis that pop up from time to time, those actually appreciate and are worth a few grand.
