Does anyone know if any product that is similar to the Zenit B16 rail? Maybe even something that has Mlok on one end and Picatinny slots on the other. I am trying to come up with an under barrel light mounting solution that will be a bit forward from the handguard. A six inch piece would be ideal really. I saw something like this, which would be ideal but this one was too long at 8 inches.
>>
>>64624664
I only know of short ones. What light are you using? I Is there a way you can swap out the light body mount so it can mount to mlok? Some of them are tapped to accept mlok screws so you can bolt them into the slots.
>>

>>64624696
Interesting. Is that the magpul one? If so, I'm not sure if you know but is that 3.15 inches? I think I grossly overshot with my last estimate. I think a three inch one would do, really just enough for me to have a mounting point from the last mlok slot to the edge of my handguard.

I'll look into that as well, thank you both.

Please help. I have a new Saiga 103, only opened it once before about two years back, I remember it taking me a while. Now when I try it the cover won't budge at all. The button seems fine, just absolutely no movement. I cycled the action, it doesn't seem to be stuck under the rear sight. Any tips on how to get it open?
>>
>>64626258

>>
>>64626258
If you have the 3rd type you need to press the button on top down. You may also have to wiggle the dust cover up with your fingers while you push. Sometimes the hole isn't cut straight

>>64625358
No sane person can justify a $600 drum. But let's see your order.
>>
>>64625350
What the hell is Atlantic smoking with that price? I would never fault Atlantic for wanting to sell something for market price, but they want like $200 more than what you can find these for on the files.

Their Russian 6x2 bayonets were well prices, same with their bakelite mags and plum furniture, so I was expecting to see these listed for like $200-$300 when I saw the youtube video.

>I don't want to scratch it up with a hammer and screwdriver
Just wrap your screw driver in a bunch of tape. If it really bothers you then you can also put some masking tape around the dust cover to protect it from glancing blows. Alternatively Use a pencil or wood dowel. You also have to lift up on the dust cover like I said because that little hump in the back is getting in the way. Hitting it won't do any good unless you left the cover up as you press the spring

About to buy a micro Draco for $300. The catch? The dust cover is a few millimeters too short and pops off from the front when you rack the bolt too hard. I assume it will also fly off when shooting. Could I just zip tie the fucker down?
>>
>>64639632
$300 micro draco notwithstanding, are you sure the top cover is fully seated and locked in with the recoil spring retaining rod? The hole at the back of the cover might be out of alignment too, causing it to not fully seat as well.
>Could I just zip tie the fucker down?
Sure zip ties would probably be a temp fix, but if you need to clear a jam or malfunction that requires the top cover coming off, you're gonna have to redo them.
Just get a new top cover, they're not very expensive. Might require some fitting though.

buying a new dust cover is a good idea but only if this doesn't work. First try to bend either the front/rear/both edges of the dust cover to make it fit right. Bang it with a hammer. It's an AK just try that shit first to try to save money. Who cares if you fuck it up more it's already fucked

But there is a single rubber wipe, which I dont want to shoot out
Whats the best way to replace it with some spacers ? I can order a metal 3dp piece to replace it, but maybe there is a better way

also, my muzzle thread a fucking rusty, I cant get them clean, despite hot water, brushing and oiling
>>
>>64645731

You can buy rubber sheets on amazon or McMaster-Carr. That's kind of a legal no-no though because suppressor parts are regulated. You're better off making your own rubber parts instead of paying someone to make a baffle because you have some plausible deniability with the first option.

>my muzzle thread a fucking rusty
Rust converter. Plug your bore with something so it doesn't get inside and then brush on some rust converter or dissolver. Wipe it off then brush on some cold bluing solution to protect the bare metal.
>>
>>64646070

This is going to be the dumbest fucking thing I'll say today but if it's just a hair short you might be able to find a round piece of metal to put it over and use a ball peen hammer to "stretch" (squish and thin) the end that tucks under that cutout at the front of the receiver. Long shot and you have to hope the dust cover is soft enough to do it but it could be done. Or it won't work and you'll spend $45+$30 ship at EveryGunPart and probably make the whole thing not fucking worth it. I was going to also ask about the button to take the cover off but after looking at my AK I highly doubt it unless there's something really wrong with it.

So what's the deal with bake mags anyway? Are they actually good as mags, or just a pretty meme? A local place near me has some for $75 each.

>Be a billionaire
>Buy everything that takes your fancy
>Be a zeroaire
This is how it works in the real world. If you have possessions you have less money regardless of how much you start with. Only poorfags don't understand this.

>Also wonder who actually made these because I don't know if Bulgaria actually made bakes (Russia, China, and Germany come to mind but few or no others).
Almost certainly they are hand-me-downs from aforementioned countries. I would guess Russia is most likely.
>>64654501
I'll put down money for 10. That gets us 1% of the way there. The problem is we need someone who is trustworthy, can organize orders, and actually distribute the magazines. I think whoever does this (if it happens), it would be fair that he gets $6 or $7 per magazine as compensation and to cover shipping costs. That would put our price at $39.00 to $40.00 per unit, which is still massively below what they go for on Gun Broker or through Atlantic.
>>64654529
Most are going to be around 40 years old by now. Many resins and plastics become more brittle by then. Yes, they are very pleasing to the eye, and yes they do feed very reliably. If you think you'd like them, get them. $75 is very reasonable, considering that Atlantic and Gun Broker almost always have them above $90 per unit. If you can find any evidence at all that a magazine is Chinese Bakelite, then I wouldn't even hesitate.
>>
>>64654573
>If you have possessions you have less money regardless of how much you start with
The only caveat I would add is that some possessions appreciate in value. Old AKs often do this, in fact. However, possible appreciation by itself is rarely a good enough reason by itself to buy things.
>>
>>64654501
I would absolutely buy two 7.62 bakes at like $50/ea; last I paid was like $20/25 for an East German 5.45 I think? Also weirdly enough I happened to randomly find that page because I was looking for pics of bakelite mags to get a reference without having to dig for the one I mentioned previously. I was actually looking because I have some theories about how to make my own repros of things like AK grips, VZ-58 furniture, etc. and want to see if the materials I'm thinking of using would match. Very far off in the future if it ever does happen FWIW. Materials ain't cheap and I keep finding "just one more way/one more tool/one material change" to improve. Heat and stiffness are also a huge concern. Also if I end up making mags, the steel reinforcements, not to mention the spring, follower, and baseplate are almost worse than figuring out manufacturing the mag bodies themselves.

>>64654529
They look cool and work well, that's really it. Kinda like why AK guys want original "bakelite" AK pistol grips, AR guys want original M16A1 grips for their M16s, and VZ guys want original beaver barf furniture. Looks pretty. Sometimes you get lucky and you get some pretty depth and texture. Also $75 is as cheap as I've seen them for years. I still would hesitate but it's pretty good.
>>

I don't think there are enough people here for a group buy. You'll have to ask on the files.

Found out what I'm going to do with my WUM-1 kit. I'll have to use PSA krink barrel components. I'm going to keep it 7.62x39 so I'll probably buy a Recreator 7.62 krink barrel because Arsenal are kikes and Riley is out of spec. I really haven't gave shit about STINC until now because most of their projects are 3d printed but these will be steel parts. I was playing with the idea of converting one of the airsoft Kochevnik but they're only available in China which makes things a pain in the dick. I will post my results when it gets in here March 2026

Nice triple dubs. Probably be what I do, just not sure about caliber. I have some 7.62x39 AKs, but 5.56 is about half the price of that now, so a 101 or similar seems to make sense, but I don't want to have to buy a different style of mag too. Sorry to hear anon, I just had to put mine down 6 months ago. I haven't pet another dog since.

The Power of the Dog
Rudyard Kipling 1865 –1936

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie –
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumor, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find – it’s your own affair –
But … you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!);
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone – wherever it goes – for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give you heart to a dog to tear.

That might work actually. I'm thinking up ideas for mounting a LAM+light on the Groza cope kit. Ideally, I'd like to have it under the carry handles at 12 o'clock but there probably isn't enough room. That leaves me with making DIY mount that will attach to the sides of the gas tube or attaching it to the B-18 clamp that I already have. I guess I could mount it directly to the suppressor with a ring clamp but that's the least secure option

Believe me, that was my first option but the reproductions aren't made anymore and I can't find any used. I spoke to a Chinese retailer about the model TWI used to make. TWI sold off the rights to another company, FCW, that has repeatedly pushed the preorder delivery date back over the course of a year. They're now expecting a summer 2026 delivery date. AFAIK there aren't any US distributors planning on importing them so you have to do it yourself if they ever deliver.
>>
>>64687914
I see the vision, add a pic rail to the rear sight and then add a riser for the optic clearance, or just get a dust cover that come with a pic rail already. Not sure on the LAM, but you can always get some hose clamps and attach to the carry handle? Not up to date on AK suppressors, but is there one that comes with a built-in pic rail for a LAM?

I would just email them and let them know what you're looking for and a shipping estimate, see what they have to say. I think with those sorts of things the slowest shipping option is the most discreet. Definitely isnt gonna be anything that same week.

So i'm back with some updates.

The WBP shitposting was actually correct. So far some signs point to the fact that these rifles are pretty fucking ass at worst and moderately (moderately because they're fucking overgased) fun range toys at best.

The signs i got with my MiniJack are all heading to the same conclusion : this rifle will shit itself up sooner or later (and the fact that the retarded spokesman of WBP in the TFBTV video said something along the lines of "5'000 / 10'000 rounds somewhere where you are nearing the end of life of the platform" doesn't help believing anything else) and i'm only 300 rounds in.

I already noticed weird wear patterns and i also noticed that the back of the firing pin is taking a BEATING (keep in mind we are talking 200 to 300 round at the very max shot through it) by an ALG hammer (which was reprofiled and polished at that). Pic related.

I contacted WBP directly about it and you probably can guess what they said "lol it's ALG fault our hammers don't cause that".
>>
>>64695286
The PT-1 is probably the worst part of the whole Zenitco lineup and only someone that only used that shit standing up once a year would say otherwise. The cheek riser screws are fucking ass and strip up easily for the simple reason that the slot is far too large for any common tool or even a knife, talking about the cheek riser it's also a monumental snag hazard and i've saw countless slings or even tree branches being caught in that shit, the stock wobbles even with their cope rubber piece installed in the trunnion, the length adjustment is placed in a counter intuitive spot and is prone to getting stuck, it's heavy for no reason, it's just an atrocious stock overall. You're better suited with an AR adapter and that's saying a lot.

Literally just buy a WASR. It's the Honda Civic of AKs. Oh you think Civics are lame? Well I think broken bolt lugs are lame. Oh it sucks because there's no dimples? Dang, guess RPKs are trash too.

polack/10, do not redeem.
It seems that they're losing key bits of know-how from Kalashnikov's technical package, like properly heat treating different parts. AK is a peak industrial age product: cheap in batches of millions, simple to use due to literal thousands of man-hours of engineering, dead-nuts-reliable as long as proper processes and QC is followed. That's why the farther from Izhevsk an AK is made, the shittier it is.
>>
>>64697957
Yes i do. Well, all i can say is WBP is blaming them for the deformation, which is basic manufacturer damage control disclaimer 101. So i guess they don't recommend them. But that doesn't mean anything, all my other rifles work perfectly fine with them in it and said trigger is probably the most used upgrade on AKs worldwide so it just feels like cope for potmetal by WBP to be honest.

Which is hilarious because i had a direct conversation with WBP on Instagram and they told me straight up "no u bad, we good, we use technical data package from polish rifles from the 60s, the issue is the ALG !" even though out of the 10 AKs i own / owned, some of which are in full auto, this is the first fucking time i see deformation in such a low round count.

Not only that but if any of you saw the latest TFB TV episode in their factory, well, it was an absolute trainwreck and i suggest anyone to watch this shit and die a little bit inside. It felt like a KPYK shill episode dusted with massive manufacturer damage control disclaimer 101 about "you need a stock that acts as a support for the receiver cause our shit is thin as fuck and made out of potmetal" and abysmal takes like "the end of life of the platform around 5K to 10K rounds" and the relation between a chinese stock adapter and barrel harmonics for some reason.

I shit you not. It was really an absolute mess and a market rep nightmare.

>>64698006
Good for you.

>>64697362
Yeah i will shoot it (suppressed at that) and keep the ALG in it until something shits the bed. You're welcome.

No fucking shit Sherlock i'm not a fucking paid influencer with a free access to a range and free ammo that can lay out a proper testing protocol and spout a .pdf. I just shoot this piece of shit when i have the time and report from there.
>>64700299
Why... ? For brainlets that barely know how an AK works, going back to the original FCG and seeing that nothing happens would mean :
>the rifle is fine
And for people that know AKs it would mean :
>well, seems like a minor different in hardness on a third party addition is beating the fuck out of this rifle, which means i can't safely do anything internally, which means i'm stuck with the original FCG or anything else for that matter, which is a massive loss in all regards since we aren't all made equal and like different trigger shoes / feel / travel / reset
Not only that but seeing a part get mushroomed so easily raises some legitimate concerns over the structural integrity of the rest of the rifle.

Do i really need to type all that obvious shit out ?
>>
>>64696853

You godless waste of dubs...
I hope you get all your firing pins replaced by polack potmetal and they mushroom after a couple combat loads' worth of shots and your shit starts light-striking every other round.
This is an affront to the spirit of Mikhail Timofeevitch. Poland deserves to be partitioned again for this shit.

>NGL I kind of want to try out some of the Pioneer arms guns. At times I am also greatly tempted by PSA's offerings too.
All of the Pioneer guns I've seen at gun shows have looked really nice and well put together, but that doesn't mean much if the metallurgy under the nice finish isnt very good so I remain undecided.

Its been over a year since the PSA Krinkov released with no controversy at all, or reports of them exploding, so I'm very tempted to buy one in 5.56 just for funsies. Has PSA finally done it guys? Have they actually made a good AK?

Gunsmith Recommendations for Barrel Pull serice, Rechamber to 5.56
Anyone had this done to a 5.45 lately? Looking for a qualified AK Smith that won't charge an arm and a leg and sit on my property for 6 months. This should be a rather simple job, press out the sewer pipe barrel on my M74 Sporter and put in a new one and modify the extractor to better catch 5.56

My goal by the end of this year is to own a Various Valmet. With that being said does anyone know anything about the ones on the US market? Like if you were going to get one which one would still have the military sights, but could take like a Bonesteel stock for example. Or what mags work with them besides the Valmet ones.

PMAGs don't work with RK's according to the FDF. Something about shearing the lips with time. The Valmet bolt carrier has different geometry than AK's.
