Thoughts about motorcycle dragoons/cavalry?
>>64627393At least paratroopers managed to eke out a strategic victory once in Africa. I have no idea why or how motorcyclist troops managed to persist for a century beyond acting as couriers when they're all the worse parts of traditional cavalry and motorized infantry combined.
>>64627393According to a dipshit marine (who congress listens to for naval matters for some reason), they can travel at lightspeed, are invisible, and their 250cc engines allows them to tow and fire Sunburns and Sizzlers on the move. Congress was so terrified of this new capability the censured the Navy for calling him a retard and forced us to build DDG-1000, and two LCS classes to address the terrifying power of VanRippers Riders.
>>64627393Why are thirdies obsessed with this bullshit "training" for their armies? I don't get it
>>64627393There's no way these have a reasonable use mid combat. However I do recall some Russians attempting to ride faster than a couple of drones a few months back. Can't say I remember how that worked out.
>>64627471>>64627467It's so "useless" that even Ukranian SF started using It. Packing 8-10 dudes inside an APC that can be taken out by a single FPV drone vs 8-10 dudes on bikes that would require 8-10 FPV drones to take out.
>>64627482I mean yeah, we've seen it done for E&E but stupid shit like shooting while standing up on the bike?
>>64627482And then the guys on the bikes are taken out by rifles and machine guns and artillery.... The very thing the APC was designed to protect against.
Dragoons were used as cavalry and as a way to get a group of riflemen to an area quickly so they could dismount and fire. While firing on the go was a thing, it wasn't the be all end all. Using a bike to get from A to B and then getting off is useful. Riding along a road in a straight line firing your rifle and sidearm at a target that isn't firing back is not.
>>64627482You are brown
>>64627393Drone fodder
Implessive
>>64627547>>64627467>t.
>>64627471>There's no way these have a reasonable use mid combat>he doesn't practice groups while logrollingHow will you beat the lumberjacks?
>>64627552Motorcycles is a counter against drones right? instead of an apc blowing up and killing 12, two or three get blown up and the rest still ride to the objective
>>64627393I think there's some limited use as recon/small unit infiltration, Ukraine apparently made good use of E-bikes with drone teams in the early war. The webm is self-parodical inadvertently funny face culture-tier larp bullshit, however.
>>64627652Nah, you're gonna get killed by drones. BMX tricks on the battlefield are obsolete
>>64627672so what is the drone going to grab all of them mid ride and throw them into the stratosphere? Also, I'm assuming a real military uses bike dragoons smarter than chinks, like planning routes that have good cover
>>64627393I'm sure there is a legit use for circus clowns in the military.
>>64627680At best its a personal battle taxi for infantry, logistically though it also means you best be prepared to lose hundreds of bikes. Any competent military is going to waste them with precision strikes or just open up on them with machineguns/autocannons from range, so outside of fulfilling roles that armored IFVs do its limited.
>>64627680I'm assuming a real military doesn't use bike dragoons.
>>64627415Both Ukraine and Russia have utilized motorcycle borne troops successfully.>traditional cavalry and motorized infantry combined.Completely useless in modern combat.
>>64627700>taxiyeah that was what I was thinking, like no frontal assault but moving from place to place under canopy protection sounds alright
>>64627680>grab all of them mid ride and throw them into the stratosphere?Yes, nothing beats drone. All other military not good
>>64627393Not bad for remote patrol and screens of air assault. The drill to shoot on move is for show, the real values are motorization on budget. In addition to the speed, the engine supports a lot more payloads which can be turned into range, fire power and supply. The issue is now that turbocharging is common, unturbocharged 2 stroke and 4 strokes are loud even for engine of such size. Having more sound emission in complex terrain that blocks line of sight is not advantageous.
>>64627393Very implessive.
>>64627393Looks more like some specialist training for Military Police motorbike cops for escort duties etc. than some attempt at creating motor dragoon trench assault corps...
>>64627415They're extremely useful as scouts and spotters. Off road motorcycles can go anywhere, compared to jeeps, trucks and IFVs. If it gets stuck or turns you can just yank it out yourself.
Ebikes/motorcycles would be based. Low cost and signature with greater carry capacity and speed.
>>64627482>>64627495Oh shit, turns out war is obsolete because people might get hurt! Quick, rush this man to the UN so he can explain his very important realization!

>>64628983>electric bikes>noiselamo
>>64629163>electricright
>>64629173>it is impossible to transition to electric bike because fake news>electric motors are known to lack torquesok
>>64627393absolutely pointless and inefficient because each you need one vehicle per soldier, motorcycles are actually very difficult to ride off road, any accident causes the rider injury, you have to protection from machine guns or mortarsand the one good thing they have, dispersion, is wasted by the fact that you have no coordination with each otheronce the shooting starts, its every man for themselves, and good luck getting your entire platoon back in one piece after the whole thing is spread over several kilometers because all of them swerved to avoid a machine gun nest and now you have to take all day to regroup
>>64629182if you know there is machine gun nest ahead and that nest is not cleared within 5 minutes you are a thirdie.Electric bikes are cheap, easy to maintain, deadly silent. With solar panels you can charge them in no time. Hell you can probably pack them in a ruck sack and assemble them on field.
>>64629182I was in a regiment with a motorcycle scout unit, what it really is>Bikes are no less armored than troops. If you have a scout or infantry, they are no more vulnerable than on their own>Bikes have far more off road ability than even tracked IFVs. Virtually all accessible places by foot can be accessed by a bike. Think about dense forests, rocky cliffs, etc>It is much safer. An overturned IFV or jeep is often lethal. An overturned bike is very survivable>Huge increase in speed and mobility of troops
>It is much safer.this one is just false, MRAPs have been lifted into the air and then dropped back upside down without any casualtiesthe roof alone protects from almost all roll-over injuries
>>64629190>if you know there is machine gun nest ahead and that nest is not cleared within 5 minutes you are a thirdie.if you are absolutely, 100%, sure there is no danger on your intended paththen use a truck, which can transport an entire squad by itself and can then drive itself back to safety
>>64629222Also, even minor armor will stop fragments which cause far more casualties than direct hits.
When I was a kid I thought Delta force drove around on special warbikes, coolest fucking shit ever
>>64628965>if I ignore a threat it will go awayevery army going forward will have to be able to cope with mass proliferation of PGMs at every level of the ToE regardless of the specific form they take (probably mostly autonomous in a few years)
>>64629182>any accident causes the rider injuryThis is wrong when talking about offroading. If you tip over a car or an ATV you are basically dead. Same if you hit a tree with a car. With motorcycles you will just slide.
>>64627393Bikes make a lot of sense for moving around behind the lines and e-bikes are great for recon elements, bike assaults are retarded.
>>64627467It's just propaganda for internal consumption. All the chink shit is.
>>64627393>When 'we trained him wrong as a joke' ceases to be a jokeImagine china spending time, money and effort on anything remotely useful, like smelting pig iron or destroying local populations of birds... Oh, wait, I guess it's really better to keep them busy with clownmanship.
>not using the bike itself as a ballistic weapon
>>64627393Needs more firepower.
Anti drone quads
>>64627482Good IFV's protect the occupants, even in the event of a loss of the equipment. There are plenty of vids of guys getting out of a bradley after it's been disabled. That's the whole point of them
>>64627802Turbos don't really have anything to do with sound here. A proper muffler is going to work with or without one
>>64629190Solar panels will not charge them in no time. They'll charge them eventually. If you aren't using a large array, which you can't exactly carry with you easily, you aren't going to get the amps to fast charge them
>>64629843This man speaks the truth>ask me how I know
>>64627715No, they didn't.
>>64627606That shut them up
>>64630301Did you stop reading the thread there or something?
>>64628949How is this not inherently practical and applicable to the modern battlefield?
>>64627393A quad is much better in rutted up muddy/rocky/overgrown conditions, can carry more weight/bulk supplies, and 2nd passengers dont need to be awake allowing them to transport casualties. I could see them shining in a shoot n scoot role. Mortars/AT missiles/crates of FPVs.
>>64630485>better in rutted up muddy/rocky/overgrown conditionsThis has been the opposite of the truth in my experience
>>64627451Your post is wasted on the audiences left in here.
>>64630519Not really, it's just an unfunny joke beating a long since dead horse
>>64630485>>64630497(I'm not either of you)In most cases the quad will indeed be superior, because of the greater surface area distribution of weight. This is both due to the extra wheels and the width of the tires. That being said, tire quality plays a role here, but a properly outfitted quad is your ideal unarmored infantry transport in rough terrain (although it is perhaps too large for the very roughest places that a bike can go, ie dense jungle)
>>64630542A bike weighs somewhere around 250lbs (depending on model, of course. Cheaper ones are often heavier) but the lightest quads are in the order of 450lbs+. Their suspension also causes them to dig in more when off camber. They simply do not do as well as a bike in mud or rocks and roots
>>64630564250lbs + rider on 2 wheels is a worse weight distribution than 450 + rider on 4 wheels, even disregarding tire width
>>64630576But it's not all about ground pressure. Tell me, have you ridden a bike and a quad offroad? Have you gone through mud, water, gravel, rocks and roots?
>>64630590I have, but admittedly not enough in muddy/wet conditions to know much from experience there
I'm a dirtbike guy at heart but a fourtrax with mudlites and a snorkel is hard to beat. Bonus: winch for self-rescue and can mount and dismount at will. What happens if you need to quickly get off the bike and put your kickstand down on soft ground?
>>64630109what a fucking retard, he had lot of time to go off the throttle
>>64630114with a Super Cub, you can go anywhere
>>64630603M16A2 is the perfect version of the AR platform and I will not entertain any arguments to the contrary. Gun. Weapon. Military Arms. Um, excuse me? You were supposed to call him a fa-g-ot and then try to move the goal post. How dare you act like a rational and intelligent person on an Underwater Mathematics board. So, not that anyone cares, I have tens of thousands of miles on motorcycles. There are definitely times when a motorcycle would be the superior choice but those times are exceedingly rare. I am obsessed with motorcycles and I would hesitate to choose one to ride into battle. Really it just depends on conditions and what your enemy is armed with. It's not a wunderwaffle, it's a tool.I got a warning issued the second I hit submit on this because apparently I didn't have weapons discussion in my reply. WTF? Literally the second I hit submit. So don't mind the first sentence.
>>64629190Imagine calling someone a thirdy and then claiming that charging your vehicle in the field, during an active war, with solar panels is in any way shape or form viable.>shit my battery is low, let's camp in range of enemy artillery/drones/aviation and unfold our motorcycle portable solar panel so we can get going again in five hours>assuming it's a nice sunny day :^)
>>64630728Genuinely wtf? A warning and an auto-sage? Can you guys even see my first post?Anyway, to add to this, firing a weapon from a motorcycle, especially in off-road conditions, would be impractical. Electrics also have shit range so you'd basically be making a one way trip. A lightly armored APC and some EW is far more practical. The only time a motorcycle makes sense is dense woods which a vehicle could not feasibly drive through.
>>64630391>>64628949Speaking of Belarus, this is an appropriats thread to remind you all of the Belarusian Konung beach buggy motortrike.A certain MENA country bought a bunch for parades.
>>64630799Holy rollover hazard.Pistol. Rifle. M16A2. Military weapons procurement.
>>64630805The only hazard here is me rolling over your ass on my dope ass retardcycle.
>>64631011If I shoot the retardedly huge tires, What will happen?
>>64631021It won't become any less effective.
>>64631021It would be extremely painful. For you.
>>64631064I'm not the one riding it although the fragmenting pieces of tire would be dangerous I suppose.
>>64627393incredible
>>64630690Most don't even have kickstands. Just lay 'er down
>>64630728You're loosing it shooms
>>64630301*WOOP WOOP WOOP*CODE YERROW! CODE YERROW!DEPROY FACE-SAVING MEASURES!*WOOP WOOP WOOP*
>>64627493Yeah shooting from the bike is just propaganda kino.In the drone age, if I had to choose between a dirt bike and cramming with 11 other dudes in a truck, I'll take my chances with the bike.
>>64627393>motorcycle dragoons/cavalry?Same fundamental issue as bicycle dragoons. You're getting 2 soldiers per motorcycle and with the exception of JNIM who mount heavy machine guns on the bitch seat, you're going to dismount to fight. After combat you're going to need to recover the bikes either one driver per bike or bring a truck/trailer. They also use comparatively more fuel per passenger compared to a truck.Overall it does work, just lots of disadvantages. We see motorcycles and ebikes in Ukraine because they are small and can be hidden in buildings or elsewhere easily and allow 1-2 people to quickly move up to or out of the front line and they're rather hard to intecept except by drone.
>>64627467It is performative, flashy and within their budget to make propaganda videos. Dirt bikes are cheap, especially 1 cylinder chinese small displacement bikes.
>>64629277>drove around on special warbikes,They had diesel motorcycles
>>64627393>people start noticing how Chinese videos never show targets in the same shots as firing>now the targets explode>there's no way that the targets could be detonated by remoteWhy is everything so fake?
>>64631814>now the targets explode>there's no way that the targets could be detonated by remotethats just how china is everything explodes even when it shouldnt
>>64629178>electric motors are known to lack torquesIn motorcycles, they actually do. Electric bikes and scooters almost always used a fixed gear ratio to save weight for more batteries. Compare that to a gas engine with a 6 speed gearbox and you have a lot less torque available on demand.
>>64631814>Chinese videos never show targets in the same shots as firingSure they do, there's that video with the bullets keyholing from 2 yards away.
>>64630119Its exactly like the chink boss in "Empire Of Dust" said:"When a black guy drives, he does a lot of damage".
>>64627393they really should work on the bike's suspension it bottoms after that little jump and the back rebounds too fast.
>>64631862You are a special type of retarded.
>>64631862Ebikes are actually torquey af, to the point early adopters were losing traction to wheelspin cos they treated the throttle the same as a normal bike. Ill stick to my ice bike tho...
>>64627393I am more into bicycle dragoons.
>>64627393>thoughtsI have none.
