We're still using the A-10 in 2070?
>>
>>64627800
Looks like an A-13, the the half-stealth turboprop powered upgrade.

the US will be balkanized in 2070

9K330 Tor but M60 Patton.
>>
>>64627813
I feel like the 9K330 system has always been a bit retarded in execution. Why make a big spinning turret? Just have the VLS cells and search radar be static, and have a smaller turret for the radar at the front of the vehicle. Yes that means the system is limited to the forward arc of the vehicle, but you're massively reducing the size of the turret needed, probably increasing the radar's mechanical speed, and you could probably fit way more ammo into the vehicle with the volume restrictions gone and the weight savings. You could also raise the search radar on a mast and just slap the fire control radar on top of the vehicle so you get almost 360 coverage (except where you're blocked by the search radar, though the mast should somewhat mitigate that).
>>
>>64627891
Is the 9K330 built on another turreted chassis that was easy to retrofit?
>>
>>64628156
Yes and no, 2K22 uses a similar GM-5975 chassis but they're not exactly the same chassis so there's no retrofits to be had there, but they're both from the same generation of GM chassis.
>>
>>64627891
Just give it two radar panels, no turret, and don't get shot at from behind.
>>
The A10 frames are decaying. no way they will last much longer.

if this thing lets me shoot smart shells at tanks from like 20 km away I'm going to cum, one of the most fun things is flying 500 km/h across the ocean as you sling smart 76mm high explosive shells at shit in the Tarantula
>>

We'll still be using the B-52 and M2 in 3070 so I don't see why not?

The US is already balkanized. My next door neighbor hates the jeet across the street. Everyone is only ever going to get more hostile.
>>
>>64627800
The Air Force cannot let the A-10 die, or else the Army gets it! Which is bad for reasons.

>>
>>64627800
How come propfans haven't caught on? Would it be due to the noise?
>>
>>64631031
Yes. I heard rumors that the one made by GE vibrated so much that the screws came loose and the paint from the fan blades came off. But that is just a rumor.

Also it is a bit hazardous as the fans are not ducted so if one out of 18 or so breaks there is a high chance it will damage the aircraft. And no you can't duct them.
>>
>>64631055
I mean... You can duct them. They call it a turbofan
>>
>>64631061
Propfan =/= low blade count fan.
Propfans are high blade count propellers. Propellers are designed to operate unducted.

>20km
The Tarantula is already cheated enough despite being hard to aim. At 20km you are making a mockery of most defense system.
If it's realistic maybe, but I'm not imagining that without guided-shells.

Don't need China, the Far Left and Far Right will tear the country apart themselves.

all of these pop-sci larpers designing a stealth aircraft, then leaving on pylon and adding props? lmao, seriously its so funny how little people understand about very simple concepts

It's not stealth, what are you talking about?

It won't, you can see where it was in Mothership Zeta, in it's place is a glowing crater. We bombed them so hard the only thing left is memories.

Once you know adding angles help stealth, why would you NOT apply it when you can?
During design phase it cost you nothing, done smart you lose nothing in performance, and in practice even a 10% decrease in enemy detection range are seconds that are invaluable for you and them.
Sure, artists aren't engineers but sometime science tell you that crazy looking design work simply because no waves are reflected right back

(I would still prefer a rounder shape for that A-13 brawler)

>>64637365
Populist right/left movements tend to prevent that from happening, usually because said populists tend to torpedo any desire for extremism on that side for a while.
