I'm surprised there isn't more talk about this on /k/, it's a program many of us have been following for years, and it's important. >https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=90ECrL_4GPcThe swedes have finally caught Europe up to Russia in terms of armour piercing small caliber rounds.
>more talk about this on /k/We've known about it for more than 20 years now>it's importantIt isn't
if you even watched that video you'd know that shit came out decades ago.
God these spam threads are dumb.
This is the strangest thread I have ever seen, about any topic. Damn.
>>64630284>The swedes have finally caught Europe up to Russia in terms of armour piercing small caliber rounds.Dogshit bait; no wonder people aren't interacting.
Reliable small caliber sabot is new, it's not something we've ever seen before. A lot of companies have tried to make it, but nothing they've made has ever been reliable or accurate. The Russians developed 9×21 AP which was an effective penetrator in a caliber suitable for general application, and it was good. And NATO had 5.7 and a few comparable AP rounds. But 6.5 Swedish is not a penetrator core round, it's a discarding sabot, and it's performance is a whole level above. The most obvious potential here is that standard sidearms will soon be able to penetrate level 3 body armour, and probably IV armour as well. To put that into perspective, 5.56 FMJ from a full length AR cannot. The swedes have made a SPEW-1 cartridge in 9mm, which actually works. The next issue is that in the civilian markets of Europe and America, we're likely to see criminals and militia do their own barrels and try to smuggle these rounds into various counties to challenge law enforcement and the feds. There's AP ammo on the European market, but surprisingly little on the US black market, and only in intermediate caliber is it effective enough to be notable.Commercially, this development is likely to increase the financial value of sub machine guns, especially the legacy ones of the 80's and 90's which have a low rate of fire and which are designed as carbines. There's also a sub sonic penetrator and generic bullet in the same caliber. 50 spam threads about Ukraine and when some actual gun shit happens nobody cares. I miss operator chan.
>>64632265>50 spam threads about Ukraineanon its not 2023 anymore, in fact it really only outs you MORE as a spammer because people who make dogshit threads like this always go right to "uhhhh well ukraine threads bad!"
The AP capabilities of this round are because it uses a tungsten penetrator. You could literally throw the same technology at 5.7 or 4.6 or even a sabot 9x19mm, 10mm, or .357 SIG and achieve similar results.
>>64630284this is now a 7.92 vbr thread.7.92 is what 30 super carry should've been
Ian, his hairline receding and his beard graying, is responsible for these threads. If he gets BJ from CBJ he will be happy man.
>>64632265We have seen lots of demonstrations of its armor penetrating ability at short range, but none of its accuracy at longer ranges. The fact that their standard loading is tungsten and their demonstrations are always comparing penetration to conventional core cartridges is misleading at the very least, and I would argue that it's intentionally dishonest. I will not be interested at all in this sabot technology until someone can demonstrate that it can consistently fire 50+ rounds between fliers, and I won't believe their armor penetration claims until they either compare their steel or monolithic copper loads to conventional loadings in other cartridges or compare their tunsten loading to tungsten loadings in other cartridges.
>>64632399Here is tungsten core 5.7
>>64632430Okay, show me a video of someone shooting it at a piece of MTLB hatch.
>>64632440
>>64632444Don't care, didn't ask. Show me actual evidence that 6.5 CBJ can penetrate an object at a range where 5.7 FN BS28-3 can't, not numbers on a spec sheet.
>>64632471Homes this badly outperforms the 6.5 BBW. That only defeats 7mm of RHA or 9mm from 12" barrel.
>>64632481Did you think that meant it penetrates a 15mm plate?
>>64632508no cumrade it beats 5.5mm HB550 plate at 15 metyers nyet u can't read
>>64630284I think it's wounding is shit except the hollow point which doesn't go through armor well It can tumble all it wants it's still .14 caliber
>>64632265there's not nearly enough material in a projectile that small at velocity achievable in a firearm, to pierce a lv4 plate. that core is smaller than that of m995.stiletto makes a 9x19 ap, which they've posted video on here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nArYYP6_LTk~6mm of soviet steel, 5mm of modern steel, MTLB isnt a meaningful standard lol, you might make it through lv 3 poly, but basically any ceramic is stopping this guy.
>>64632361Ian's real problem is that wrinkly forehead of his. There's more ridges in that piece of skin than there is on a ruffles potato chip. He got that way from over emoting his face while making all these videos.
>>646322659x21 is not suitable for general application, it had dog shit ballistics from 200m onwards.>bitching about Ukraine The war in Ukraine is infinitely more interesting and important than an small arms cartridge that been around for decades and probably won't go anywhere. Just because Forgotten Weapons has done a video about it recently doesn't mean you have to start acting like you know all about it.
>>64632276You say that as if the ukraine threads arent dogshit that people have been talking about for months on end with nothing meaningful actually discussed
>>64630284>surprised there isn't more talk about this on /kWell you do post it every week
