American Chad here. I don't know much about guns, and unfortunately I love in the Northeast so not sure how the gun laws are up here, but I'd like to buy a handgun, maybe the Chad M1911? Thoughts? What state has the most lax gun laws?
>>64631140Generally speaking if you want to buy a handgun you need to do so within the state that you reside. Long guns (rifles and shotguns) can sometimes be purchased while in another state, but if yours is particularly obnoxious that might not be the case. Moving just to buy a gun you want is generally speaking not practical.Either way, a 1911 of some sort can be bought in almost any state. Which one do you live in specifically?
any particularly reason why you didn't just say what state you live in?
Age is a factor, federal is minimum 21, no matter the state. There are still ways to accomplish if under. Do you want to conceal carry it? Most northeast states are not constitutional carry. States with the most lax gun laws are like montana, wyoming, arkansas. Just literally google these things.I personally love the 1911. there are dozens of variants being sold all the time

Everypne says buy a Tisas, but they aren't legal in Massachusetts.

>>64631569Why?
>>64631765They aren't drop safe and/or they haven't bothered to go through the bullshit needed to get them approved for sale in MA. I don't blame them, I just want to complain.
>>64631140>Civilian Marksmanship ProgramBuy once cry once, whatever you do. And get Wilson Combat springs/parts for backup. >>64631824>They aren't drop safeCertain older Colt's have internals which make them so. OP can do his own research.
>>64631140springfield armory 1911's are great, can't go wrong with themjust make sure you're getting what you want thoughas with every 1911 maker, they have a billion variants that all have little weird quirks, so making sure you get a bog-standard one with high parts commonality is a good idea
>>64631847So what exactly is the most standardized M1911 from Springfield armory?
>>64631140You really want some SEAL training. Join the US navy.
>>64632083their 1911 mil-spec .45's series, they're just govt. model 1911'splenty of people will use them for builds & replace parts with other manufacturer's, so you're good to go if you want "the" 1911

>>64631583Oof, a little tricky in that you'll need to apply for a pistol permit. Once you have that a 1911 should be easy enough to acquire.>>64632083Standard 1911s are the 5.5" barrel with a single stack magazine and standard barrel bushing in either 45 ACP or occasionally 38 Super. There are a bunch of variants that are compact, or have a different barrel bushing, no bushing, funky double stack magazines. Just keep it simple. Extended beaver tail, extended safety, enhanced sights are usually fine because they can be swapped out for standard parts. If you have a goofy flared barrel mater to a proprietary slide design on a compact frame it's going to be hard to troubleshoot if it decides to be temperamental.SAI makes fine 1911s, Colt are the original but really overpriced, RIA and Tisas are solid el-cheapo foreign options (Philippines and Turkey respectively). There's a ton of other manufacturers, but I don't recommend the high $$ custom guns like Wilson Combat or Les Baer for a beginner. Great guns, but very expensive and super tight tolerances that are geared for accuracy than reliability.
