Hey 4chan. Me and my buddy were drinking last night and having a debate with each other about guns. He's been a gun owner for about 6 years and knows a bit more than me. I've used guns off and on over the last 5 years, most of which I can't talk about, but I've done hunting and stuff. Which gun is best for self-offense? My friend said AR or an AK, but I'm kinda on the fence about those, mostly because of price and whatnot. I just told him it feels like cheating when the gun does most of the work (all you do is pull a trigger) and you don't feel the emotion when the target goes down like that. Like "it doesn't feel personal" but with a Sig or a shoytoy you feel like you've really done personal damage to the target is what I'm saying. He doesn't agree and says an AR is probably best. But what do you think /k/?

shoytoy is a shotgun in local slang. Sorry, guhs

I think you should kill yourself.

What the hell did I do

The crux of the debate is esoteric and completely irrelevant. You are being incredibly dumb for getting hung up on it in the first place.

The only thing that matters is what tool is optimal for the job. ARs are becoming popular for home defense because.
>Low recoil.
>High magazine capacity.
>Fast reloads.
>Way better ballistic performance than a pistol.
>Can get a much longer accurate range than either a shotgun or rifle, although that's not likely to matter.
>5.56mm tumbles and fragments when hitting walls so it doesn't over penetrate too much.
Whereas a shotgun.
>Way cheaper so you won't miss it if it ends up in an evidence locker.
>Fuckload of energy transfer in a single trigger pull.
>Generally good enough to do the job
>Doesn't draw as much legal scrutiny after the fact.

Thinking about how it would feel to shoot somebody with it is meaningless and sounds psychotic. The point of these is NOT to use them unless you have to. In fact bringing that point up as a deciding factor would probably ensure you getting prosecuted or at very least sued if you actually use it and then blab about stupid nonsense like that.

They are cheating, they do do the work for you. And that's the point of guns, whether auto or manual.
Throw rocks with your own arms if you want to lose "fairly".

>Which gun is best for self-offense?
You mean like... for shooting yourself?
