in the new upcoming Resident Evil game, Leon seems to carry a hatchet instead of his usual knife, which seems like an obvious choice, more range, more power behind the strikes, you just lose a bit of precision.
A knife seems like a poor choice to begin with in that the ways you would usually use a knife to kill a human (slashing/stabbing to cause massive blood loss) aren't going to have much effect on a stereotypical zombie.
Some kind of laser sword or something, i don't know.

>>64633959it always bothered me that in TWD, they alsways use small knives to kill the zombie, which require them to put their, mostly ungloved, hands very near to the zombie's mouth.in the comics, character used more hatchets, machetes, hammers and the like, stuff with more range. But I get it, it probably much easier and safer to use fake knives in a show production.
I really hope we'll get to use a chainsaw in actual gameplay and just as a finisher/qte.
>>64633940Probably the knife honing rod I got from a knife set made in the 1970's
>>64634087It would make more sense to just use lengths of steel pipe or conduit with one end cut/ground at an angle into a point. If all you have to do is shove a stake through the brain there's lots of stuff laying around that can be made pointy.
Spear.Meet with the fellow spear enthusiasts and form up a phalanx.

>>64634196I think the aspect I liked most about the daryl spinoff is that he used a flail for the first two seasons in France, and a folding navaja sword for the season 3 in Spain.Added some spice to it.
>>64634196>>64634211The problem would be wielding a large spear if you are surrounded, and no, you can't spin it above your head like a helicopter to kill all zombies around you.
>>64633940>Claw Hammer with long neck Great for caving in a skull>Crow bar durable and useful tool >SpearHas great stabbing force while letting you keep distance. Not great for tight spaces or multiple zombies, but great for easy kills. Ideally, when it comes to melee weapons, it doesnt really matter what it is. Its the strategy that matters. My ideal situation is setting up tripping hazards for them. Like those agility courses that make you run through tires on the ground. Just make a few tripping traps in a wide open area. When they stumble and fall just walk up to them and deliver a simple killing blow.
>>64634135>He's already agreed to buyLmao, dump the chainsaw, we got heem already.
>>64633940Probably a longsword if I could get my hands on it. Lots of leverage, light, easily carried, can be use in ore both hands, and really easy to use as a giant dagger or bludgeoning weapon if things get to grabbing distance.
If we assume zombies act like methheads with 0 pain response, your best bet would be to keep them at bay or chop off limbs, so>with friendssome kind of spear or polearm>alonefalchion, messer, or da dao
>>64633940>Which melee weapon would you carry to use against zombies?smallsword or pike
>>64636190>pikehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4y6agtVxWi8
>>64634762>you can't spin it above your head like a helicopter to kill all zombies around you.Duh, that spin is for escaping via flight.
ZweihanderI would just wrap my extremities in heavy cloth and wade into a horde of them, slashing and singing until they're all dead.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sa-fGA1I52A
>>64633940Cutlass or heavy saber, I guess. Great for chopping off body parts, easy to carry, easy to maintain, and durable.I wouldn't want a hammer or bludgeon type weapon because 1. Skulls are hard as fuck, 2. You're not guaranteed to destroy enough brain to stop the zombie, and 3. Getting your hammer stuck in the skull of a zombie seems likely.
Halberd but will do fine with wooden poles/spears all that matters is extreme formation discipline.
>>64637088what about for tight urban areas?
>>64634063Just fucking AWSOME!! You win the thread!
>>64633940Unironically a katana.
>>64633940In this specific order:2h sword, dual daggers, sledge axe, crowbar, hatchet, small knife>>64633959Hatchet will beat knife but sword or dagger will beat hatchet Knife is backup emergency weapon >>64636371Too heavy
>>64637750And by 2h sword I mean extended katana You’re also going to want some backup throwing knives
>>64637746Fuck yeah!
Spar torpedo on my bike.
>>64637827No bikes anymore, real zombie killers drive porsches.Yes, Capcom unironically made a deal to advertise Porsche cars in their zombie video game.
>>64637722It probably doesn't change the underlying power of disciplined formations. Plan the positions so your formation always has superior mass and range compared to the engaging zombie mass. The discipline must be ruthless and employ extreme psychological measures such as making clear that breaking formation would cause everyone turning on the breaker and feed him to zombies as priority number one. Sleeping in the same room with chained zombies is the first test.
>>64633940A light, durable, pointed/bladed weapon with a weighted head, no longer than your forearm, is the traditional wisdom when it comes to close-in fighting, but given there'll be no need to blades, it needs to be a bludgeoning/hacking instrument instead. I've seen hatchets get really stuck in pig bone, and I imagine it's pretty comparable to human, so that's out. I'd have to go with the horseman's warhammer.
>>64634762And somehow if you got surrounded in the same manner you’d be ok with a knife? NTA but the point of a spear is to not let them surround you in the first place and keep them away.
>>64635993This. Give me more spinning back kicks and suplexes.
>>64633940My dick. Not much penetration but leaves a gaping wound. They call me beer can
>>64633940Assuming it’s RE zombie rules where you need to be bitten to be infected (I think) I’d go with an all steel framing hammer. Gives you some reach, would be better at stopping a zombie than a knife, but mostly it’s for some utility. Having a hammer in RE world scenarios would be handy. I’m saying a framing hammer so you have a straighter claw in the back to help with prying stuff open. And longer reacher over a standard claw hammer.
Cold Steel All Terrain Chopper
My Hanwei katana of course. I'd need to loot a wakizashi as soon as possible for CQC situations.
The game director's said that there won't ba a merchant in RE 9, so i wonder how the melee system will work, will the weapon have durabilty like in REmake 2 and have to be replaced once it breaks or will it just be indestructable?
>>64638244>They call me beer canMore like a White Claw.
>>64638312Yes, yes you do.
>>64634087It's just a shitty show that pretends to be about zombiesIn the season where they a fortified inside a prison they actually did use spears to kill zombies stuck around the perimeter wall but that was it.
>>64638686Ah the first five/six seasons of it were fun then it went to shit. Such is life
