You would probably have to like lower 1/3rds co witness the irons but a red dot on a double barrel rifle would be an ideal dangerous game/guide gun

Why would you?

red dots are faster to pick up, more accurate and better in a variety of lighting conditions than ramped beads. any gun that has a ramped bead like a dangerous game rifle with express sights or a lever action rifle would be better off with a red dot since the red dot is literally a modern version of a ramped bead and accomplishes the same thing a ramped bead is trying to do but better
>>
>>64636327
Putting a red dot on that is absolute savagery, pure tacti-bubba.

Red dots are just strictly better than iron sights except when it comes to shooting shot with a bead it becomes debatable.
You dont have to line up your sights and the target, you can shoot more target focused, and also the advantages you stated. I remember it was a big thing when the army stopped training irons and switched to red dot and everyone was losing their shit. They were probably right to do so. Ironsights are so much easier to pick up the bad habit of focusing on your sights more than your target.

Some people shoot their guns and dont just look at them
>>
>>64638697
don't they train you to focus on the front sight because it's more accurate?
>>

>Ironsights are so much easier to pick up the bad habit of focusing on your sights more than your target.
You are supposed to focus on the front sight.
>The front sight post is the proper place to focus and is critical to good shooting and scores.
>Even if it is 200 yards, 300 yards or 600 yards, you must always focus on the front sight post!!

Where have you been? Guys were putting early Aimpoints on dangerous game rifles back in the 80s.

If you can't shoot a gun like that as deigned without sticking some Alibaba crap on it you can't shoot

Red dots belong on a rifle and that's it. Considering how easy and intuitive it is to use a shotgun with a bead I still can not grasp this fad. And unless you're shooting competitions, they're dumb on pistols as well.

The shotgun red dot thing kind of makes sense if your shotgun doesn't fit at all (still makes more sense to just buy an adjustable stock) or if you're using a shotgun like a rifle, see turkey hunting or defensive shotgun use. Like if you need to aim then it makes sense, but if you're doing something where a lot of shotgun users don't even use any beads or sights then it doesn't unless the gun really doesn't fit

the point of double rifles is to show off to other safari boomers and larp as some 19th century gentleman hunter. a red dot is counter productive to this goal so it's not a real advantage. if you only cared about practicality you would be using a bolt action with a lpvo.
>>

they had a safari hunt in Tanzania for meat eaters. the actual hunter had a bolt action dutch loaded with one type of round for the first shot over a different type. idk how many shots but he was carrying it chamber empty until it was time to shoot and he had either an lpvo or a mpvo
the guide had a double rifle with express sights and kept taking the rounds in and out and had 2 different pouches on his belt with rounds sticking out, not sure if they were different types for right and left.
the doubles are so you can get a second round off as fast as possible as the guide
Also bolts are gay. If I was a rich fag I'd use an 1895 winchester or a double rifle

Pretty sure it's the same juvenile shit stain posting this sort of insult all over the place.

This is how you say you don't know where your daddy is and live in an apartment with an abusive alcoholic whore of a mother with saying you don't know where your daddy is and live in an apartment with an abusive alcoholic whore of a mother.

Go masturbate somewhere else.

idk it depends on preferences I guess. the ph I met uses a model 70 in 450 win mag for dangerous game hunts.
>>
>>64648076
the rest of the guides all had AKs or bolt guns too, so idk how important that second shot was
>>
>>64647551
lol holy crap I pissed this guy off
my conclusion is he does in fact have an insulin pump
>>

Nah.
>>
>>64648811
is fuddy five 70 even legal for african big game?
>>
>>64648819
nope
>>
>>64647420
A double will give you a chance to get 2 shots off at a charging lion or hippo while a bolt gun gives you only one
>>
>>64648087
Guides usually have a bolt action in a fuck-off stopping cartridge like .458 lott or 505 gibbs. Clients are encouraged to use doubles. Two barrels, two locks, two triggers. Everything is redundant for that sure second shot. And if that isn’t enough, the guide(s) blast it.
