Is the Kilo-class a good weapon system for 2026?

What is the benefit to Ukraine of destroying 2 subs? Just to put the cherry on top of the humiliation cake, or are there actual reasons?
>>
>>64639929
The ones they hit are used to launch cruise missiles since it isn't safe for surface launches.
>>
>>64639929
Every little bit helps, in the long run russia will simply run out of black sea naval power since it can't reinforce the fleet

TZD means TZD, land, air, and sea

subs are used to launch cruise missiles and do surface recon for Russia. Destroying them opens up more windows for Ukraine to keep using underwater drones. Subs also function as early warning systems with their sonar and can detect drones a long ways away before they can reach their target.
>>
>>64639929
Those subs a cruise missile carriers, which are used (among other launch vehicles) to attack them pretty much every night.

>drained the Aral sea because of it
The Aral sea depletion is a great Soviet ecodisaster that most westerners are ignorant of. Imagine draining the Great Salt Lake to a mud puddle and then pulling the rug out on the built up farming (assuming it was fresh).
>>
>>64639993
They had 7 assigned to the Black Sea fleet

Rostov na don was already hit (twice) and is presumed out of commission
Novorossiysk and Krasnodar were in the Mediterranean when the war started, so it's not those two either.

That leaves either Alrosa, Staryy Oskol, Krasnodar, Velikiy Novgorod, or Kolpino

>>

Anon, it just gives an overview of pre-war count of russian ships in the black sea fleet, just subtract what you see on oryx. It also doesn't change the fact that the BSF is considered "operationally non-functional" now.
>>
>>64640030
Everything on the Black Sea that borders the former USSR has both irrigation issues and plenty of opportunities to both impound fresh water and create secure harbors. It seems like a obvious solution, just from a civil engineering viewpoint.

Just looking at a map of Novorossiysk makes it obvious that a impoundment would be a great idea, given the conditions it would be relatively straight forward. It wouldn't need to be a huge project like the Nampo Barrier, maybe 1/3rd the length and 1/2 the height with two dual channels instead of one.
>>
>>64639816
I get the feeling it's not gonna be as totally wrecked as we hope, but I assume that's still fucked until drydock.

drydock is essentially the same as the scrapyard, as far as the russian navy is concerned

Orange/brown: Cheap barrier/inner barrier in combination with above
Ideal: Both the above, blue is enclosed freshwater fishery, yellow is spillway feeding overflow from inner barrier. Outflow is hydropower so excess fresh water can be pumped for irrigation.

>>
>>64640870
After Romania and Bulgaria joined NATO, yeah that's prety much it.
They were supposed to be a Kalibr-armed threat along with their VLS cell frigates, and air assets. The various Soviet leftovers, like Moskva, obviously also had cruise missiles. Big, fast ones, too.

Clealry a modern take on the Jeune École coastal defense strategy. Pretty much suicidal against NATO air and sea power in 2025, both in the Black Sea and Baltic.

Datchas and yachts are very good in terms of multi-generational wealth accumulation, provided you can avoid falling out of windows, shooting yourself in the back six times or drinking some spicy aura tea.

>Pretty much suicidal against NATO air and sea power in 2025, both in the Black Sea and Baltic.
I have sorta noticed that most of the new ships and subs on order for the Russian Navy are going to be assigned to either the Northern Fleet or the Pacific Fleet. Makes sense.

Course the most obvious elephant in the room is that somehow Ukraine managed to get fairly high definition footage of the naval facility all the way over in Novorossiysk
Then, live record the act of snapping that motherfucker in a military naval port!

Is that really a surprise? Russian narratives have been that Ukraine has no more men and are fighting with old men and women, that Ukrainians are losing the will to fight, that the US pulling aid would get them a win, that the only reason they are surviving is NATO soldiers, that their win is assured.
Meanwhile they have effectively lost Syria, Venezeula ia being directly targetted, libya is being assaulted by rebels, their black sea access has collapsed, their international reserves are either spent or held by Europe/US, hell even Chinese banks that are happy to comply with sanctions, Europe is rearming and has added two nations to itself that has made Russian defence less tenable and more precarious.
Not only that, but they have been consistently fed Russian corpse piles that seem to only have gotten more dense and worse over time, videos of Ukrainian men rather than NATO fighting, even videos of dead Ukrainians on the Russian side, preemptive victories over towns only to "win" the same town several times in a row over the course of a year, the soldiers that survive are coming back injured or with little love for the system at all, and that spreads because they are men that have a voice in their families.
The slow movement of frontlines might seem like a cathartic theme for the average Russian, but it is the opposite, after 4 years it is a proof of Ukrainian will to fight, a proof that the war will last 20 years at least rather than the imminent collapse Russian commanders often cite as the future scenario for almost 4 years now.

Not only that but they have been consistently bombed even in remote areas, initially this serves as a unifying force, but as time moves, the blame shifts from Ukraine to Russia itself as it does not stop and in fact only escalates.

I would not be happy with this war as a Russian, given the population ratio. Their position of power and thus security is directly challenged by this war.
>>
Oh I forgot to add, meanwhile Russia is spending (losing) troops fucking around in Africa, importing foreigners en masse to try and inflate their way out of a monetary anf population crisis, while basically killing off rural Russian males who are the most conservative and giving their women to browns and chinks in their propaganda.

Strelkov in one of his screeds from about 5-6 months ago said that if Ukraine keeps up and ramps up their deep strikes in the rear, Puccia will certainly lose because of logistical and economic collapse. While he didn't mention a time frame, I assume from then at most 1-1.5 years, so we have anywhere from 6 months to a year longer to wait
>>
>>64642488
oh on top of that, this was before Ukraine began deliberately targeting shadow fleet vessels, which might possibly accelerate our existing timeline.
