Is it possible to create super soldiers? What current or future technologies would make this possible?
>>64644046Define super soldier. We're already enhancing soldiers now, and have been for a long time. Vikings supposedly ate fly agaric before battles. Hoplites used wine to assuage fear and diminish pain. WWI saw coke and heroine, WWII methamphetamine. Then you have all the CIA Stargate programs, which probably worked more than the govt is willing to admit. And nowadays half of your tier one guys are on test or steroids.Future soldiers will likely have neurological implants to enabling them to see in the infrared (they have contact lenses and injectable substances now that can do this to a limited degree), dampen pain, modulate adrenaline, and boost reaction time. This is all supposing that soldiers will even be relevant 20 years from now. The way things are headed, we may see hyper automation of warfare. Which will probably lead to destruction on a never before seen scale, because dead robots dont hurt morale.Interesting times ahead anon.
>>64644046Quite possible.
>>64644091>mitwit effortposting in a goof thread
>>64644046Making soldiers super means they're going to be capable of even greater feats of stupidly. I don't think that's a good idea.
>>64644046We would have to super pay them and that's not in the budget.
>>64644100Terrain would have to be nice and level everywhere for that to work
>>64644046>desert 6-color in 3025Nice
>>64644169The future doesn't have rock, nimwit.
>>64644169Don't be so small minded anon.
>>64644046Possible? Yes. Practical? No. You could spend billions on a single man just for them to take a 155mm just as they step out on the field. Or gets caught in the open and gunned down by an entire brigade. Or steps on a land mind. Shit happens.
>>64644046Nah. Best you are going to get is government sponsored steroids and combat cocktails of various amphetamine mixes for regular soldiers. Anything past that defeats the purpose of having expendable infantry.
>>64644169>not realizing that vehicle is 17 feet tallLol.
>>64644046Roids, other drugs, vision surgeries, etc. Cybernetics are coming closer and closer to being a thing but it's still definitely a ways out. Extreme training is also necessary. The problem is that program is probably going to be heinously expensive and likely have long standing risks and problems one way or another. If you succeed all it takes is some bad luck and that huge investment is crow chow. After service you have a roided out superman with the skills to kill everyone around him and an undoubtedly higher risk of snapping.Today the best you'll probably do is technological super soldiers with more training than usual. Exoskeletons, full AI integrated HUDs, specialized weapons, that sort of thing. I would expect early true "super soldier" programs to only really be useful for SOF, probably black program stuff at that.
>>64644203That's not the same thing at all though
>>64644046DEEBO COMIN
>>64644091I'd look at it like it's a relative grading. An army without night-vision going up against one that does is going to end up a one-sided fight and that alone means we have super soldiers already without even getting into overall health if you're Saddam's Iraq. That means a modern super soldier to us would range from near-future stuff like active camouflage to fantasy developments like plenty of sleep.>>64644203>well the live leak logo is still up but I'm far away from any roads so I should be fine
>>64644046Breed russians into humanzees
>>64644046Nigga we're losing the ability to create regular soldiers. In 10 years the ability to read Charles Dickens and picture an apple in your head will mark you as a supersoldier.
>>64644485but why would there be an apple in my head? i dont get it
>>64644487Because you didn't eat breakfast this morning retard
>>64644485Is aphantasia learned? I figured it was genetic
>>64644046Literally me
>>64644046yeah it's possibleit sucks for the subject thoughhyper-autism really really sucks
>>64644440What about stuff like gene therapy? We now have the biotech to basically inject modified viruses that modify cell dna as a form of treatment for diseases now. It’s not a stretch to think we could do the same thing to make stronger muscles or denser bones.
>>64644046>billions of dollars in research and training gets turned to red paste by a $200 FPV drone carrying a $100 PG-7VL warhead being piloted by some nerd with 20 minutes of practice on an old Xbox 360 and a copy Battlefield 3 that were bought at a Mexican flea marketEven if you could, there would be no point.
>>64644046>Is it possible to create super soldiers?yes>>64644046>What current or future technologies would make this possible?send them to military boarding schools at age six having screened the parents for IQ and genetics and assessed the child physically and mentally
>>64644857Deliver two super soldiers with a few different passports to enemy capital to rendezvous with cache of C4 detonators, small arms and drones with a ten page list of A and B targetshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N__xCKl8b9whttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqmm_u01NiAhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiJYEo4GW8Uhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhtxmDwgIwQ
If you're talking about super-soldiers via cloning/eugenics or medically altering or augmenting the soldiers themselves like in sci-fi, it's possible but prohibitively expensive, very scientifically unethical for the most part and most of the currently known viable means of doing it aren't sustainable and come with significant side effects and drawbacks.

>>64644780I'd consider that part of the "etc". The trick is actually being able to do it right and not accidentally fucking other things up in the process. Yeah you could probably program in all sorts of nice things for a super soldier, but there's all sorts of things you could absolutely fuck up too.
>>64644537Your society determines what genetics you have access to for army recruitment. Those issues are linked.
>>64644857>The drone gets shreded by the 50¢ buckshootsWhats the point?
>>64644881>Deliver two super soldiers with a few different passports to enemy capital to rendezvous with cache of C4 detonators, small arms and drones with a ten page list of A and B targetsYou can just catfish a terminally online loser and pay them to do that with cash and a video call with an ai-genned girl and they'll do that with zero risk to anyone you care about. They're cheap as fuck too, not much more than an fpv and somewhat more versatile.
>>6464506410 or 20 gladio labrats with 500 volunteers and limited weapons can hold back a 30000+ strong mechanised assault on an urban conglomeration for months. They just don't make them like they used to.

>>64644046>Is it possible to create super soldiers?Yes.The problem is them not being cost-effective.A hypothetical super soldier could cost somewhere between 50-1000x as much as a typical grunt, and depending on the method used could take decades to "produce" and train. All this for a soldier who's likely just going to be "grunt but better".I can't really think of a scenario where a super soldier could do something a specialized conventional unit couldn't do cheaper. And remember, when a super soldier dies, that's all that expensive modification and training gone. If a vehicle is lost, there is a chance the crew survived and can be put in a new vehicle, meaning you don't have to train a new one. When a super soldier dies, you're back at zero.
>>64644046Yes2 hearts, 3 lungs, 2 stomachs, non-working genitals, being able to breathe in hostile environments for hours, 12ft tall with hardened muscles, tendons, ligaments, implanted exoskeleton and false nerves, enhanced vision and hearing, being able to gorge any organic substance and process them into nutrients and retain memories of said organism
>>64645064>the real supersoldiers were the incels we radicalized along the way
>>64644046>Is it possible to create super soldiers?not in any way that matters. consider how much stronger a gymbro is than a lanklet and then realise it literally doesn't matter in a military context. how physically strong would a person have to be for it to give a material tactical advantage? i would say infinitely strong, or rather that there is no amount of personal physical strength that confers a material tactical advantage in a gun fight. maybe if you pick up a skip bin or something and advance towards them carrying it as cover but then all you've achieved is to close the distance, they still have guns and you still need to get out of cover to shoot back. you could throw it at them maybe? but wouldn't it be more effective just to shoot them?how fast would you have to be able to run for it to matter? sure, with speed you could reposition yourself quickly, but the limiting factor on movement often isn't actual speed at all but rather shit like snipers and whatever. how bulletproof would a super soldier have to be to eat a 7.62mm bullet and what would they give up in the process?it's dumb. we fight wars with humans because we are humans and that's what we've got, but humans are poor weapons. if you want to see what a supersoldier looks like, look at a drone or a jet or a tank - things that were designed with relatively more freedom to optimise for their role.
>>64644882FalseThis >>64644780, once you have the genetics figured out, maas producing will be cheap, and you will have single use, unlubricated supersolders who die by program at 28. Otherwise platinum kneemplants for paratroopers is not that expensive. Tantallum enhanced skulls with built in EEG is expensive
>be me>19 year old cletus mcfuckstick from midwestistan>sign up for army>get the gene juice>now i am 7'6" and 800lbs of muscle>given my weekend pass>get drunk and do coke like all soldiers>rape 18 women, rob two liquor stores, flip a car off a bridge and beat my ex girlfriend into a smear on the ground>MPs sent to come get me>resist arrest>two buildings collapsed, 36 bystanders injured, 4 in critical conditionI think there might be some kinks to work out.
>>64645355>Stregth...The US infantry is made of 5'4" latinos. The euro infantry is of 190cm teutons. In the US branches the FN MAG is a 2-3 team weapon. In EU the same weapon is a 1 person machinegun, no team needed. On this account, the supersoldiesr would be way more expensive than 3 latinos
>>64645363>>now i am 7'6" and 800lbs of muscle>gets hunted by drone>tries to get into trench hole>doesnt fit>gets blown to piecesalso imagine the amount of food and water an 800lbs soldier would need and how much they would shit. the latrines would have to be so big they would be visible from space. literally.

>>64645551I always assumed they wore monk habits outside of deployment, but when deployed they were in their armor 24/7 because of how time consuming it is to put on
>>64644726Me in the back(spy unit)
>>64644046It's probably possible right now. It simply isn't practical because a super soldier just as schwacked by a 155 shell as regular infantry.
>>64644046>Is it possible to create super soldiers?yes>What current or future technologies would make this possible?nothing new the tech is very oldcult-like social structure where your soldiers are fully immersed in their military unit and fully isolated from the rest of society. and enough money\gear to allow them to drill/exercise basically all the time.this is how supersoldiers were made historically and its still the only way to do it.
>>64644046If a gigachad-ification drug existed we'd be browsing the dark web for it instead of posting here. This is one of those 'if it was that good, they'd be doing it already' questions. Militaries investigate performance enhancers all the time, and conclude the corspman should just have more motrin. But I can give you supersoldiers using some mundane economics. Offer a high salary or conscript large numbers of people involuntarily. Screen out all except the strongest, fittest, most athletic ones into our supersoldier unit. These people are super by literal definition of our screening process and also in practice. There's no drug in the field of medicine to turn Joe Shmoe into a someone born with S-tier genetics who also did athletics their whole life and was captain of the football team.Actually don't even offer money, that's expensive, just advertise that it's super badass to be in the elite unit and let them grow beards and use custom weapons and stuff. Problem solved and I don't have to deal with the lifetime of veteran's care claims and media crying from injecting guys with roids, I just used the roided up guys that already existed. It's current technology.
Take regular soldiers.Feed them meth and roids.?Profit.
>>64644780Only marginally useful for adults and extremely risky for children.
>>64646377"Bad news, all the supersoldiers tried to run through machinegun fire and died."
>>64646459To be fair "meth and roids" Berserkers are probably a hell of a lot cheaper than most options you'd think of for making a super soldier.
>>64645052They don't doe
>>64646987but is a musclebound berserker that you'd run from in a viking melee actually a superior soldier when his job is to shoot a gun accurately and operate modern equipment and coordinate over radio? Or does the meth and roids actually make him less of a super duper trooper.
>>64647030Depends on what you're making them for I guess. Bersekers might have that dumb deer power where it just keeps running not realizing it's dead. You're making bargain bin supers, not proper human terminators. I don't know why you're expecting them to do anything particularly complex. Personally if I was going to go this route I'd use people that are expendable and send them into things like trench clearing and breaching. Nobody cares if the convict we used for it gets eviscerated right in the doorway. He absolutely cares that if he pulls it off he gets more super duper high grade meth in his tweaker cave.
>>64645306>the real supersoldiers were the incels we radicalized along the waySBU in Ukraine catches these people every week. 1/3 are old zigger karens, 1/3 are petty criminals and 1/3 are random idiots who fell for something.I'm not sure that there are so many incels in Ukraine, possibly saying something about Ukrainian girls.
