>>64648002It's now the BLACKED Sea Fleet.
>>64648051>>64648113Well alright then. Thank you, gentlemen. I assume the blocking hulls were zig-zagged, or intentionally flooded and then raised. Do you have any historical examples I could read up on, or related book recs?

You can't just place a major port in a confined naval environment and expect to have a perfect defense against infiltrators. You'd need a gigantic 8km wall with flak towers, locks, underwater sally ports for subs and dozens of machine gun bunkers lining the base, that would be impossilbu.......Oh wait, Russians are just fucking lazy.

>>64648022Torpedo nets have existed in this fashion since ww2.Doesn’t make it less impressive that ukraine is able to get at these boats without a torpedo in sight
>>64648559>Nation at the forefront of UUV, USV, and UGV vehicles constantly shocks the worldDuh? And to be fair, Russia most likely felt like the fleet at the port was safe and never bothered to put out netting unless they got word that USVs were coming
>>64648022Torpedo nets only work when humans are attacking you, not drones. Some Italian frogman riding a torpedo into a British port absolutely will not just commit suicide, he'll only drive the torpedo if he can line up a shot and then swim away as the British ship suffers damage and draws all the attention. Historically it has been a similar situation with any other method of attacking ships in port. You need a sub, special forces, or air planes to land sneaky attacks on the ships, and those guys are vulnerable. The point of the net is just to tilt the odds that they will succeed down enough that the enemy would be foolish to risk important assets attacking you in port. Attacking someone in port isn't a pitched battle most of the time, it's a sneak attack. If you can develop drone AI to the point where the torpedo can just punch a hole in the net, then it is just an economics game where the net just slows the torpedo down. It's okay for the entire attacking force to be destroyed so long as it does more damage to the enemy. The real solution to this is to enhance detection around your ports and equip patrols with weapons like depth charges. In theory it should be possible to deploy defenses that are cheaper to make than advanced underwater drones.
>>64648549Nah, that's the only one I got. Feel free to post yours if you've got it, though, that sounds hilarious.
how did sea babby perform terminal guidance in the port? is it like a usv with an antenna and a camera? or just really accurate INS?
>>64648605>Some Italian frogman riding a torpedo into a British port absolutely will not just commit suicideNo a Italian will not do something like that but Russia's greatest Ally would do it and have. They also have the capability to do so. The fact that Russia has got hit repeatedly with small boat tactics and haven't hired their ally who is a expert in these tactics for port security is beyond stupid. Nork harbor security boats and mini subs fit on traincars, the port should have been swarming with them when Nork frogmen weren't blowing up random stuff in Ukrainian ports. I don't understand how Russia is so dumb: There is a clear long term threat and Ukraine is probably MORE vulnerable to the same tactics as Russia. Basic shit like torpedo nets, small subs, frog men and tugboats of doom (pic related) are just a call away but Russia is too stupid, cheap and incompetent to pic up the phone to Pyongyang. These dumb ass slavic niggas need some Yonos.
The type of anti-torpedo net that battleships equipped with booms on their sides was found to have the drawback of collapsing into the sea in the event of combat damage, causing hindrances, and was discontinued after a short period of use.

>>64648489Well bad news for the Kilo crews then, I don't think those things can even launch missiles. They have no vertical launch cells, and launch from the torpedo tubes requires a minimum depth that IIRC is deeper than the harbor floor.

Didn't the British completely seal off Scapa Flow after Gunther Prien's visit?
Like the Prien submarine that invaded Scapa and the US Navy's Wolf Pack that invaded the Sea of Japan, they were also capable of surface navigation under cover of night. To completely close the waterway while still operating it as a waterway, it is necessary to deploy a net-opening ship.
>>64648022Dozens of surplus and antiquated merchant ships awaiting scrapping were acquired by the British Admiralty and scuttled at the entrances to Scapa Flow at the start of the First World War to prevent German submarines from sneaking into the harbor. These later proved inadequate at the start of the Second World War (largely because the hulls of the ships had disintegrated due to the currents in the intervening 20 years) when Günther Prien, commander of U-47, penetrated the harbor (successfully bypassing at least three blockships in the process) and sank the HMS Royal Oak, resulting in even more blockships being scuttled. This was still deemed insufficient however so the British solved the problem once and for all with Churchill Barriers, giant causeways erected that served the dual purpose of permanently blocking all submarine access and linking the Orkney islands with a road network.During the Russian invasion of Crimea in 2014, the Russians towed the hulk of one of their last surviving Kara-class cruisers to the entrance of Donuzlav Lake (headquarters of the Ukrainian Navy in Sevastapol) and scuttled it. Most of the Ukrainian Navy's surface fleet was unable to escape as a result and subsequently captured virtually intact.

>>64651712Constantinople is entirely on the European side of the straits, but is now a part of the much larger city of Istanbul which extends deep into AsiaNone of this makes tirket or the turks European. As another anon said earlier, a dog living in a house does not make it a human
>>64652293there are more turks and russians living in berlin than germans. turkey is also in nato and yurovision, they're yuros
>>64651910All those rivers are rightful Nordic clay.
>>64651712>geography argument permutated into a population density goalpost>turkey integration goalpostTurkey is bridge state between the European and the Arab world, their culture is unique and cannot be crammed into your simpleton categorized world view.I am sure you will also agree that Mexicans and Canadians are Americans because they are also on the North American continent.
>>64652344nope, America only means the USA. Mexicxans are latinas and latinxes and leafes are gay. seems to me like turkey, israel and russia are in yurop considering turkey is in nato and russia was a party in the Treaty of Paris of 1815
>>64652296Incorrect.
>>64652387>seems to meThat's an admission of your own retardiation, nothing else.
>>64651744Bongs MUTILATE the English language. You know that. They literally speak English worse than Africans.
Kek, in case anyone is wondering what got the shill riled up, the ukies just sank another oil tanker, right next to the pumping station in Rostov harbor.
>>64652398true>>64652410I literally could not care any less. you might as well be posting about the south sudan war
>>64652393>>64652388nah, I'm 100% right. Why was russia in the alliance to beat napoleon if they aren't yuros?
>>64652410
>>64652418>I literally could not care any lessWhat a self-contradicting post to make.>>64652420>Why was RussiaWhy should anyone care what a bunch of asiatic steppeniggers LARPing as a nation do?
>>64652426you clearly care about russia a lot considering you're constantly seething over them. and I literally could not care any less. I don't live in russia and I really don't care about foreign countries going to war. the only foreigners I care about are the japs since they make vidya. Literally no other war matters to me unless there's a direct impact on my life in the US. I'm also not even ethnically russian. all of my ancestors were from west of the bug river and north of the alps
