I work with the homeless, that's my job... they're always armed, more because they fear getting attacked. Because police will seize their weapons over and over, they've got nowhere safe to store anything, and anything they own worth more than $30 they'll sell to buy more drugs, many are armed with trash weapons. Rebar, very common hobos will hide rebar all over an urban area, metal poles and pipes hidden in things, knives, screwdrivers.They will use syringes to threaten normal people, drug dealers, etc but these are no real deterrent to other hobos. It's also a very common tactic to discourage police searching them. If your pockets are all full of used syringes how can a cop pat you down or search you for weapons?Saw a hobo today with a flanged mace made out of a wooden table leg weighted with heavy pipe. Several had clubs, one had a cheap survival knife.
