Why do they need that big anchor, and also a plank?
what the hell is going on here

Because their houses are made out of paper mache and also they pee sideways and breathe wrong too. Now if you're done stimming, go back to /int/ you autist.
these are tactics developed by devgru
>>64652087>Why do they need that big anchorThey are Marines so they are dropping an anchor to indicate they are halting as is crayon
Here's how a real man penetrates a wire barrier.
>>64652087Why did he dive on the particleboard ?
>>64652159To press down the wire without impaling himself on it, making a clear path for the group to pass over
>>64652168...couldn't they just lay the particle board on it to begin with and just step on it instead of risking getting tangled by the edges like he nearly did?
>>64652259>>64652087>>64652108The anchor is because the wire might be booby trapped. Just laying some razor wire with mines attached to it is incredibly inconvenient to breach and basically takes a platoon to push a squad threw even the most simplest barrier like this if it has direct fire covering it.Also they probably have all the cover around their barrier presighted for artillery, so if you start to breach it (obscuring it will be a tell) then you will all die from mortar fire
>>64652312That makes sense, but why dive woth the particle board like you're a virgin presented with a free goal? Seems safer and easier to just position it properly and walk on it.
>>64652087I wonder how this end if theres anti personal mine just a few meters of the guy who drop that "anchor"
>>64652419No idea but here is my guessIf you just lay the board on the wire you would have to stomp it down a few times to get it flat, which leaves you standing up and exposed for a few extra secondsSince any given wire obstacle laid by a competent defender is being watched, standing up for even a few seconds longer than is absolutely neccessary could be fatal
I guess it's necessary to crush the coil shape of the barbed wire.
>>64652620Also just hitting the dirt and getting back to cover in general is a good thing if the wire is being watched. The actual surprising thing is that they're breaching with a piece of plyboard which I'm guessing isn't something carried by a dude in every platoon when you have bangalores or the modern APOBS which all the combat engineers will have.
>>64652087I guess if you use something soft you can't stomp it flat and you'll probably have the wire bend and wrap around you.
>>64652087If you have the anchor/grappling hook, couldn't you reel it in and simply cut the wire with some clippers? The wire would retract and clear a much bigger opening, and you wouldn't need to haul around a big plank.
>>64652087>Can't americans just use a thick carpet or something?and we weren't even going to bring your mom into this
>>64652087We just throw a guy on it and walk over him. We've also been training for ww1 since the war ended. >ex leaf infantry
>i have no idea what im seeing but i am HIGHLY opinionated
>>64652159
>>64652087The fuck are those purple beads on the first grunt that clears the breach?
you fucking get blown up by gurilla trap bomb bullshit for 40 fucking years and tell me what the fuck you know if you're so smart niggerfucker.there was something called the SOVIET UNION over there a decade ago and they left a little something called THOUSANDS OF TONNES OF MUNITIONS.
>>64652887Looks like training rounds
>>64652087Who puts out a single run of concertina wire?
>>64652820cutting a steel cable under tension can be dangerous, especially when the steel cable in question is covered in razorblades
>>64653172someone whose running a training exercisethe "anchor then cover" strat will work on layered obstacles, but why spend the time and money setting that up when a single run is enough for training purposes?
>>64653195Sure, but it's going to retract, not extend out even further. Basic physics says it can't yoyo back any farther than you've pulled it. Unless you're actually holding onto it with your hands, it seems fairly foolproof.
>>64652312>boobytrapSeems a bit performative. The guy is what, 2 feet away? A booby trap can be anything from a grenade to several pounds of explosives and even the grenade will fuck up the anchor-thrower.
>>64653389Still gotta perform the breach, and in combat you're not going to always have the best equipment. Ideally this wouldn't be a mechanical breach and you'd breach with explosives like bangalores or APOBShttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvUepcPv9_w
>>64653389yeah its not the best example. You can throw it a lot further. but most anti-personal mines by volume are toe poppers and shit just scattered everywheregoing face down with helmet towards explosion is pretty safe desu
it could be worse, you could be the nigga having to crawl head first into razor wire with a pair of bolt cutters. And when the tension comes out of the wire it tears your fucking face off
>>64653420>>64653427Fuck I'm glad I didn't become a combat engineer. Even with training C wire I had to sew or steri strip their shit up a few times.
>>64653338You've never dealt with actual shit like this, have you?
There are plenty of mines with fuses that don't react to explosive pressure, but the hassle of clearing a dangerous area of wire and mines makes me want an old-fashioned Bangalore tube and projector.
>>64653338You go right ahead and cut something under a whole lot of tension. It be like setting off a miniature explosion with the amount of energy just waiting to be released.
bro just pour some coca cola on it and wait a week it will have disintegrated
>>64652087>Need That's the best part of being a real military we don't have to think about the "cheapest" way to do something.
>>64652698Engineers will “usually” breach wire, and they always come with vehicles. Plenty of space to carry ply board, and if you don’t have it you can just cut the wire and walk through. Also, if you’re trying to infiltrate without being noticed, blowing up the wire is a bad idea lol
>>6465288740mm grenade training rounds. They’re filled with orange chalk and capped in blue plastic.
>>64652126Anyone have the webm of the guy getting ripped out of a vehicle by razor wire wrapped around his leg?
>>64652168He came a little too close to just landing on the razor wire for my liking, DoD couldn't spring for a bigger plank?
>>64653389They are training for conventional warfare. Heavily mining miles of wire is extremely costly for the enemy in terms of time and material. If it’s mined it will be small munitions. When you see stuff like this it’s better to imagine that this little section is part of a much larger battle space, it really helps you wrap your head around the training.
>>64652548Look at the anchor man’s posture, helmet on, head low and exposing as little of his body as he can. This is the risk you take. Those helmets are well rated for shrapnel.
