Every drone attack performed by Ukraine rolls back to the training program the Bongs set up years ago to train a few hundred. Basically they set up of 'battlefield' with obstacles and shit and trained them to navigate it and then went
>okay now go and spread this
Which they did. I assume people still train there and combine with experience, but it's a very useful skill. But I agree, the Bongs have a personal reason to help but their government is cucked.

Some Euro agencies do not fuck around. Especially the French and British. The Baltics have crazy good cyber ops.
Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands just happen to sit on some of the most important IT hubs, but they would never ever use that for anything, trust me bro.

So yeah, if you happen to be a Russian GRU colonel on a tanker in the Med and did some fucking around, you might just end up on your personal Find Out arc with zero comments from everyone around, and a quiet nod to the ukies.

It was a handful of grenades on an empty tanker, I don't think it's going to put holes below the top deck.
It's not even going to put holes IN the top deck unless those where thermite grenades or something.
An empty oil pipe ain't going to be 100% empty though, those fumes are plenty flammable so it should fuck some shit up nicely.

He's getting it from a ziggergram thread that speculated that the FSB/GRU rivalry escalated to the point of slipping the Ukies a tip.
Personally, I'm more inclined to think that somebody went "oh, hey, this one specific boat is always right off shore when a drone shows up over an airport. I wonder what that could mean"

The leak isn't coming from controlled journalists, it's from an "opposition" journalist which just means someone that does their grift outside the system.
Like I said, the call is coming from inside the house.
The house is a little bit divided though and everyone on both sides are still a form of zigger.

A piece of empty land in the ass end of Russia was named the Jewish Oblast because Stalin wanted all the jews to move there out of sight.
No one did though, after the first arrivals reported that instead of finding the fresh virgin homestead they were promised they got a frigid swamp filled with nothing but mosquitos and wild anthrax.

The fire seems quite large.
In any case, a sanctioned tanker is going to have trouble finding a port that will accept it for repair.

>>64654860
>What was he doing on a tanker?
They're using the shadow fleet tankers as mobile platforms for fucking with Europe via drones, anchors dragging cables, that sort of thing.
At least some of them have uniformed zigger military on board these days.
>>
>>64654850
There's no way a ship can be salvaged after a fire that big, right?
>>
>>64654230
Why the fuck would they put a general on board of a tanker? Where's the logic in that? What else besides oil were they carrying?
>>
>>64654932

Russia has been launching the drones violating EU airspaces from commercial ships such as this one.
>>
>>64654911
>There's no way a ship can be salvaged after a fire that big, right?
We really don't know.
The fire seems large from a distance but it could just be burning the outgassing from a ruptured pipe and not actually be consuming the ship itself.
Or the ship could be fucked, we really don't know.
This seems to have happened kind of between Crete and Malta btw.

>>64654932
>Why the fuck would they put a general on board of a tanker?
We don't really know that they did, the primary source isn't very credible.

Electricity in my area currently costs about half of what it cost last year.
Gasoline and Diesel fuel are also really cheap, approaching 2020 prices.
Adjusted for inflation, automotive fuel hasn't been this cheap since like 2012.

Meanwhile the ruskies are freezing, rationing fuel, and taking 2-year instant loans with insane interest rates to buy loaves of bread....

This whole scenario is cool. It's like soemthing out of a movie or spy novel. Secret tanker that's actually a drone carrier under the command of an evil glowie, and then and operation to take it out covertly, more or less. Ukie operation is based and ruskies are based in this case for playing the villain so well.

>It's interesting to see the relatively small scale of the drones used and the fact that they appear to be fpv rather than larger long range types Ukraine has. Is there an unsuspecting supermax cargo ship that popped a crate on deck somewhere nearby?
I'm positive you meant to quote >>64654162 but anyway.
That's possible but I think they'd just use a ship that's friendly to Ukraine.
Some might have a Ukrainian owner or lessee, or a Ukrainian crew but the easy way is for the SBU to just buy or lease a ship through a shell company and do whatever they want with it.

They can assume that they're safe to use RF because these tankers sometimes get searched so they don't carry entire EW suites, just what they need for their mission and that can be stowed.

The video is clearly a nade dropper drone but there's a lot of nades dropped so maybe a vampire or two with a carousel of nades, plus at least two observation mavik-class FPVs to film it.

You could run this op off a decent sized leisure yacht probably.
If you didn't mind being a bit cramped, a 40' cat could carry about eight crew and a cabin dedicated to drones and tools.
Use three vampires, two as bombers and one as repeater.
A couple of observer drones.
The ordinance.
The gear isn't that much space, just fly it to Greece or wherever in on a military flight with diplomatic status and put it on a boat and sail out of their waters.
Or do it through NATO channels and sail out of say, Gibraltar or Malta with NATOs unofficial blessing and official disinterest, then it's game on.

EFP/shallow HEAT. Any HE-frag damage in drone payload sizes is ultimately superficial, a penetrating charge aimed through the hull at the engines or fuel tanks can wreck the ship with a fire. Of course, a poorly-aimed EFP just means there's a goofy hole going through the hull of the ship.

A lump of thermite on a steel deck isn't going to do that much.
Maybe melt through a deck, probably not two and it could be attacked by just dumping water on it to cool it. You'd probably need full suits to handle the steam but it would work.

Other side of Greece and the Turks probably don't want to be so directly involved. Though I suppose anything's possible with the watermelon seller.

Or something like that.

The PC survived, there was one more exposure and a death in a nearby village though.
The assassins carried the agent in a perfume bottle but didn't dispose of it carefully. It isn't known what happened but it was in its box looking like a new bottle of perfume when some chav found it dumpster diving and gave it to his wife.

She died, the chav survived.

He says he can't remember where he found it though he's ruled some places out, he was fucked up by it and probably in a coma for a while so lack of memory isn't unlikely but I sort of think he stole it from somewhere, like they stashed it in a luggage storage to be collected by another glowie and the chav thought he was stealing someone's suitcase. It's literally the start of a spy movie plot.

The cop that was exposed was in a forensic suit at the Skripal house and still got fucked up by it, his family lost their home and all its contents because of contamination.

>>
>>64655705
>Any HE-frag damage in drone payload sizes is ultimately superficial
I assumed anon meant grenade or RPG sized warheads, as in FPVs.
There are tiny EFPs that size, ukies sometimes use them to strike vehicles or uavs with command detonation though it's been a while since I've seen it.
>>
>>64655917
I remember the most fucking egregious part of this was they got the actual GRU agents on RT or Rossiya1 or whatever to say "we just tourists, we just wanted to see famous Salisbury clock tower)))"
Like any other country trying to pull this op you'd recycle the glowies' identities, maybe have them lie low for a while. Not bring them on live TV to act smug about it.
>>
>>64655925
>Are exhausts protected by grids or could one just lob a grenade down there?
They don't go straight up from the engine, otherwise birds would crap down it or water would splash down it and somehow a ball would get down there one day.
There's usually a 90° bend or a sump or something.

>>64655907
>a drone full of hydrazine
I think that might actually be a war crime though 1l of hydrazine slung under an FPV isn't the disaster that it might be. I can't imagine that fighting that fire would be fun though and it would probably be perfectly effective as an incendiary.

The tankers are already sometimes guarded by soldiers and some tankers are glowies.
These aren't commercial ships, they're run by state actors and closely related to the intelligence agencies.
If Ukies started attacking with helos, these ships would get MANPADs.
If a Ukie patrol boat was around, these ships would get some sort of torpedo or ATGM or something.

They should be considered military vessels when considering how they react to being hunted. At least some of them will in fact be Q Ships.

Kind of? High end chip fab is at the point where quantum tunneling is stopping it from getting much smaller. It's really at our limits of understanding various fields of science. I wouldn't be surprised if some of what is done to make those chips is just the best solution we can currently figure out and there might, might be another solution in the future that's better.

Thanks, it's even more insane than I remembered. Tin melts at a pretty low temperature, but it's still damn liquid metal drops. And yeah the whole thing about that just being a single step in a loong process is even more nuts, but that part just sticks with me. How the fuck they first figured that out is so far beyond me that it might as well be magic.

>>64656714
It'd be pretty sad really if we had actually reached the end of the chip fab tech tree because of limitations due to quantum mechanics. Damn impressive to get to the point where that's your limitation, but still.

>>64656714
In principle there are other ways, like ion beam etching/deposition, placing things atom by atom with electric force microscopes, self-organizing structures, etc. etc.
But those don't scale nicely to industrial scale, unlike the photolithography process.

In theory nanomachines would be best to directly assemble nanostructures, that's how biology works after all, but this is way beyond current human engineering capabilities to design from scratch.

>I have exactly a computer engineer's worth of college chemistry. What happens when you use Helium? Isn't it a noble gas and unlikely to react with anything? No really, I want to learn.
In general terms, when you need to purge lines with Helium it is because you have to absolutely remove all the oxygen etc. that might otherwise react spontaneously with whatever you're planning on sending through.
It's not really dangerous by itself, it's the context of what they're (probably) planning on handling.

Also, 99.9% of the time it will be fine if you're in the west and people don't act like fucking morons.

>Also, yah anything starts smoking fucking book it is what I've been told by a few people
Brown clouds (in a chemical industry context) can often mean nitrous compounds.

If you want some nightmare fuel, google dinotrogen tetroxide. Just a little nitrogen and oxgen doing their thing.
Unfortunately, their thing is setting you on fire, dissolving you and destroying your lungs.

Or azides. Becasue it turns out that if you just keep adding nitrogen to molecules, tehy want to blow up. Luckily, nobody has been insane enough to attempt manufacturing these on a larger scale.

See >>64656760. We're way closer than anyone would like. The real problem is making enough chips fast enough. As a fan of cyberpunk, I'm curious as to what these restrictions could possibly lead to massive computers that are unaffordable except for the megacorps and government, but really don't want to live that reality. Although corpos already have computational power and information that is too difficult to explain. Short version is they know everything, absolutely everything, you just aren't worth focusing on.

Put it this way, even the Germans in WW2 invented some of this stuff, they made quite a lot of it and decided that yes. Being able to burn a concrete reinforced pillbox to the consistency of sand, then set that sand on fire was a potentially useful thing.
Zee problem was, 'how' the fuck on gods green asshole was anyone going actually deploy it in a matter that was useful? Its all the fun of a bottle of nitroglycerine sitting in a bucket of rocks covered in cans of napalm. I mean, maybe you can convince some of the people to do it, but they'd only do it once, leaving the rest of the people going
>yeah nah
>fuck that!
>>
>>64656846
It's still chemistry. Even a warehouse full of it would only destroy a city block and poison the water.
And it's not like there are entire storage tanks of it sitting in every city. It's only produced in limited quantities.

Fluoride is so fucking reative that it jsut burns up with whatever is around, and then it ends up as (relateively) inert compounds in the ground.
And in trace amounts, many organism actually use it, so it doesn't really poison the soil long-term.

The problem is elemental fluoride, it rips apart almost ALL other molecules. And it gets hot. And then you have all kinds of fun secondary reactions with, for example, hydrogen going on. Which invariably leads to acids in gaseous form, and explosions or fire.

>>64656795

I'm real curious about the insane chemical dumping we will find in russia whenever the place fully destabilizes. I mean america has managed to pollute the entire planet to where the chemicals involved in teflon can now be found on the top of mount fucking everest and can be found in the blood stream of uncontacted tribes, and this is just the shit we know about.

IMAGINE the type of shit russia has been dumping in lakes and rivers for fucking decades that nobody actually knows about. Sure, we know they created the most radioactive place on the planet with that dumping lake, but nobody really knows the full extent of it's chemical dumping.

>I'm real curious about the insane chemical dumping we will find in russia whenever the place fully destabilizes.
>IMAGINE the type of shit russia has been dumping in lakes and rivers for fucking decades that nobody actually knows about.
My uncle is a geologist. He got his first job during German reunification, surveying areas where East Germany had been dumping or burying garbage.

They started with the usual methods of just checking surface areas for outgassing (from stuff that was decomposing) and heavy metal poisoning of the soil.
They found that their (western) equipment was just too sensitive, it would just peak. So the method was now to basically set up a perimeter, put up signs 'do not enter', and then slowly quarter the area to estimate what was buried where.

The outgassing (largely methane) can be managed, it's just a question of some tubing and you can even collect the gas if you want to. But the heavy metal in the ground? That shit is just fucked. They basic method is to find out how deep it is, calculate when it reached the water table, and prepare to cordon off the parts of the groundwater. The metals slowly sink into the ground, tehy'll be too deep to poison plant life in a century or so, and below most groundwater in two centuries.
Also, they found other fun stuff, dioxins, asbestos, etc.

There were other areas devastated by 40 years of constant power generation from lignite coal, and absolutely no filtering. Just build high chimney comrade, that wil fix it))))) Just mix ash with water and pump into river, is no longer problem)))))
Turns out that doesn't help, and it starts to literally rain acid, all the kids get leukemia and everyone dies at 45 from lung cancer.

Russia is like that, but with a few more decades of this, more corruption and more area to just dump shit.

They fucking love asbestos. Everywhere through the former soviet union in some often not squalid regions as well, this shit is just asbestos tiles, shingles and corrugated sheets slapped up everywhere. Rotting away, loosening the fibres and fucking up anyone who breathes it in.
Years ago now we ended up with some captured Mi-24's from a mercenary company that got stuck on a base out in the middle of nowhere for years, so I asked an airforce mate if we could go have a closer look them because we happened to be on the way through and they're pretty distinctive, interesting aircraft.
Nope! Full of asbestos and behind a fence with a no-touchy sign
I think they later just dug a big hole and chucked them in there instead of coming up with any feasible way of making them remotely safe for anything

I suggest you to look up some info about Stalker movie. They filmed the Zone part of the movie in Estonia, in deserted factories and waste cheaps near energy plants. The falling ashes and foamy water you see in the movie isn't props, they're real industrial waste being managed soviet style. Also the director and several people from the crew died from exposure some time after the movie.

>>
>>64656209
>Make it Orthodox Christmas
The Dec 25/Jan 7 confusion is because the Gregorian and Julian calenders are out of alignment and Orthodox used Julian. 25 Dec in Julian is Jan 7 in Gregorian.

Ukraine switched to a modernised Julian a while back so they have Christmas on the 25th like most of the world. Russia and a few others still use the faulty Julian calender because lol religion, so they do Christmas when their religious calender says 25th Dec which is 7th Jan for the rest of the world.

>At what point does it become worse than just staying in india
Well, I'm certainly looking forward to Muslim vs Hindu vs Christian problems in Moscow.

Hindus are generally cool, a bit weird but cool enough so long as they don't have the influence and political power to enforce their religion on their town/city/province.
If they get to the point where they can riot in Moscow because McBaня is serving beef then it might be more peaceful during a hindu chimpout against muslims in India.
Then again, they usually chimp out against villagers who have rapable daughters and farmable land, so whether they'll create problems for armed chechens is an unanswered question.

Chechens don't usually bully people who riot when you fuck with them either so there are many unknowns in this scenario and I've never seen Russian orthodox do anything to save themselves because lol Russians

Proof-roostering doesn't work on states.
If some state's glowies have classified evidence that convinces them that Russia did something, they don't need to prove it to anyone but themselves and they don't need to share the proof, they just act on it.

>transporting that shit by road, rail or ship
I think you could just dial the packaging:contents ratio the fuck up.

If you have 1l of nasty in a connex-sized container, you can pack it in nice and securely. An inch thick pyrex/glass/Al/whatever canister inside layers of padding inside plasting/rubber moulded in place, inside cast ceramic or something inside a suspended gimble, inside several inches of steel. If you're not dropping it from orbit, it's going to be ok.
You could probably make something that would survive a plane crash with that level of containment.

Then it's just a matter of dialing back the containment until you reach an acceptable compromise on practicality and safety.

Look at how the US transports nuclear waste, those things are intended to survive close range bomb blasts.

>'d be pretty sad really if we had actually reached the end of the chip fab tech tree
Think of it as like shale oil or lithium deposits.

We're not necessarily using the only possible way of doing things, we're using the one that makes economic sense given what we have and what we're already good at doing.
There's other approaches but they'd cost more, or we'd have to do more research to make them work. Boring reasons cause us to settle on a working, affordable solution now, tech continues to develop in the background and occasionally the process is improved or possibly replaced.

Depends on what the sonar does to the minisubs which is the fucking question I'm asking that you can't answer so you're just nit-picking the question with irrelevancies.
