The F-35 is not a pretty plane. It looks technically superior, it looks expensive, but it's not pretty. I think people here get caught up in how much of a success it has been and it gives them rose tinted glasses when it comes to aesthetics.
Japan maybe working on some sweet livery with the ram coating dyed in different colors as we speak.
The F2 is said to have some ram coating on the leading edges and a few other areas of the F2.
