>Ukraine lost 87% of its Abrams tanks in under two years. Australia's 49 replacement tanks arrive as the 68-ton breakthrough weapon has been forced into a different role
>It is now used not as a spearpoint but a "shielded hammer" — only surviving in a symphony of sensors, jammers, and screens.
Tanks are now truly obsolete:

>Tanks are now truly obsolete
And yet, China, Russia, USA, Germany, France, UK, Ukraine and more countries are getting more tanks.
>>

The US marines aren't.
>>
>>64657592
The Marines are attempting to shift away from they GWOT role of Army 2: Seaborne Boogaloo to a more serious amphibious force. Their divestment of tanks makes sense if you consider that they expect to fight in the pacific. But you're a dronefag and incapable of thinking outside of the terms of the Ukraine war.

Australia was getting rid of the things either way. Might as well send them off to have one last hurrah rather than burying them in concrete or whatever the hell they would do with the things otherwise.

I don't understand the australian approach to that. we have some of the best conditions in the world for long-term outdoor storage 'just in case' but we insist on permanently destroying them instead.

The tank prototypes that Germany and France are making have no real countermeasures for drones
The usa is not even making a serious effort to replace the abrams and the active protective systems are mysteriously always 5 years away
Lets be real, /k/ hates drones and likes tanks so they cope

That's like... 14 Abrams?

It's a cheaper way to cripple Russia than fighting them directly.

It's pretty obvious drones chew up everything until there's nothing left. However the problem is also that they were delivered when both sides were in the process of adapting to this new style of warfare. Maybe the new ones will fare better, maybe not.

how many tanks did russia lose in those two years?

Yes anon, both countries have no idea how the war they are fighting is playing out and only you understand tanks are obsolete.

Drones pose a very real threat to MBTs and will be countered by hard kill systems just like when SPAA was integrated into armoured units in WW2 to counter ground attack planes.
Now because most of the world is at peace it'll be a slow process and we might need to wait 10 or 20 years for the new integrated SPAA to be fielded but they will be and MBTs will live on as the point of the spear.
>>
>>64657570
>shielded hammer.

I would have suspected they simply were fire-brigade defense attachments to static infantry.

>>64658477
Nah, I think its now small units of mechanized infantry, deciding that a drone/artillery screen of in-depth lethality has sufficiently "attrited" a sliver of area that they can take 100 meters here, there throughout the season, which scaled up across thousands of IFV's, delivers a tangible territorial gain.

Losing 27 tanks isn't that bad actually but it does mean they need more. Tank losses were higher in WW2 in the same amount of 2 years.

The drunken shitposter nation has stepped up more than I expected in this war. Granted, I didn't expect anything, and they're basically giving away things that they would otherwise throw away, but I'm still pleasantly surprised.
