The general for discussing homemade and amateur firearmsLast thread: >>/64549287/I often see homemade firearms being constructed very crudely out of things like pipes, sheet metal, dremeled slabs of mystery meat steel, and all other sorts of things, but why is it that I don't often see homemade guns made by people who know what they're doing?A significant amount of homemade firearms I see are done as a hobby, and making a firearm takes someone who knows how to work with metal, but you dont often see them actually milling guns with a machine, pic rel.Or maybe those types of guns tend to be so well made that they arent usually distinguished as homemade?
I'm retardedLast thread: >>64549287
>>64659909like a tricked out 10mm smg from fallout 1. loved how chunky those things looked, same with 40k bolters.
here is a couple rifles built by rebels in Myanmar.
>>64659921if you like that you should see the one off made by the czechsmade for their government but only 2 were built so it kind of fits the thread
>>64659929this ones really cool, it looks like there was a legitimate attempt to streamline the manufacturing process and had a lot of thought put into it, and i especially like the tube receiver idea for itits clear that they had access to AR parts but not enough for complete rifles
>>64659909The good ones are generally mistaken for factory guns, there are a few /k/ommandos who've posted excellent hand made firearms over the years. I think there also generally isn't much of a crossover of talent, if someone is a machinist they aren't also going to be a firearm designer and from what I can tell if they are into guns then they just replicate factory models. The few who are designers and machinists don't just make guns, they make prototypes for production.
>>64660065I've done some work on building guns myself, and soon I'm gonna be getting a full on vertical mill that i want to set up for CNCYou're right that usually buying a demilled kit and building a receiver for it is probably easier, but now that I'll have a mill I kind of want to copy the internals of guns that work already and put them into a new design and do something cool with it.Really tempted to make a bolter style gun with an FRT like what's been posted in maybe 5.56, or make something akin to a post ww2 era SMG like an owen gun or a gustav m45
I really want to participate in these threads as I have an avid interest in /zip/ however my government has made thought crime illegal, so no amount of minecraft posting will suffice to negate incriminating myself.
>>64660740Well of course you have never and never would do anything illegal, we're just theory crafting here. If even that is against your crown's pleasure we could talk about foam dart guns.
>>64659984It looks like something a cosplayer would have at Comic-Con
Well, I work as a machinist and have a side business as a gunsmith I think I kinda know what I'm doing and I have many ideas what I want to build...BUT I have little to no time and I got to make some money, so I mostly stick to building things other people designed...I really like 3D printing stuff because it doesn't take a lot of time and effort (and money) to build something new...Basically like you >>64660065 said it... I really would like to design and build my own high quality pistols (like Edgar Budischowsky did for example) but I just don't have the time (and money) for thatSo I just print stuff and saw off shotgunshttps://youtu.be/B-veR0OVWi4
>>64661682>https://youtu.be/B-veR0OVWi4is it just an 80% lower or did you make the bolt and the barrel yourselfdo you have access to CNC
>>64661689I made everything myself except for the trigger and opticI machined the bolt, extractor, ejector, firing pin, charging handle, suppressor, rifled the barrel... I have access to a CNC but don't own one myself sadly
>>64661700is it viable to try and do this if don't have access to CNC let alone a drill press / manual lathe / manual millit's probably impossible rightit's hard to make a simple STEN pattern smg bolt without a drill press let alone a complex bolt like in your picture
>>64661716You can build an Urutau without access to a milling machine! You could build one in your Bedroom with simpel tools! Also if you really like the Scorpion look, you should check out the fgcz-9 Its doable without a lot of machining but instructions are missing -so you need some knowledge to assemble and build it
>>64661737I am aware of both and already have them downloaded, just interested why would you do something so hardjust because you have CNC access I guess? like, the project was designed for americans who can buy bolt and barrels with no licensingmy main problem is the ammoI have to reload the primers and that takes a lot of time with rather unreliable results
>>64661741>why would you do something so hard>just because you have CNC access I guess?Because I liked the original Evo and wanted one... Just didn't want to pay the money >my main problem is the ammoSo you're not american?I don't want to get into trouble so I will tell you: Don't do something illegal! Because it's illegal! You know...
>>64661759legally producing guns here requires at least 5000000 USD investments just to get a licenseand I'm pretty sure gunsmithing here means only repair/modification but no actual new guns
>>64659909These Indonesian .223 revolver
>>64664127That rules.
>>64664127I really wonder if these work because taurus once tried to make revolvers chambered in .223 but just like all other bottleneck cartridges it doesnt work that well in revolvers...The cartridge push back and expand, due to the expanded bottleneck it won't move forward again make it unable to rotate the cylinder...That's why we only really have cylindrical cartridges in revolvers
>>64664871They seem pretty common over there, so they probably figured a solution out. I had a similar issue designing a revolver where the primer would bulge .5mm just from my loose tolerances. The trick I came up with was to leave the breech face raised but cut a shallow circular channel to let the fractionally enlarged casing to still rotate.
>>64664871I know they make the bfr in .30-30And they had historically bottle necked cartridges like 44-40 and 38-40
>>64661700Are you the same anon who made the wa2000? Currently on my second year of machinist school. Its all cnc this year I wanna get into making my own stuff.
