Do freighters have any fucking defenses against being boarded by helicopters? I mean they have to have some small arms or maybe a mounted machine gun or some sort of AA battery right to defend against piracy?

Are you really telling me like a small fire team of troops can takeover a freighter?
>>
If only there were maritime laws against guns on civilian vessels, huh?

Did the global south get another ship taken?

They are going after a 3rd one right now! This has to fucking stop!

It's like a clerk getting robbed. Official policy is generally "this isn't your problem, you aren't doing anything wrong, this is between the company and the feds, don't get yourself shot and force us to pay insurance".
If somebody is actually putting armed security on the boat, it's going to consist of (expensive) contractors, for express purpose of use against people that the company is never, ever planning to do business with again.
>>
>>64663407
>Are you really telling me like a small fire team of troops can takeover a freighter?
Why would that be a concern? The consequences for doing such would always outweight the payoff to doing so.
>>
>>64663407
Helicopter means it's an actual military doing that shit. An actual military doing that shit means that even if you put enough firepower on board to put up a fight, the next thign that happens is that the warship the helicopter operates from is gonna turn up and politely tell you to fucking surrender or else.

no and why should they? Don't break the law and nothing will happen
>>

How is it stateless!? It's sailing under the flag of Guyana! It's in U.N recognized international waters and has done nothing wrong! This is like when the Fucking Klingons started boarding all ships outside of Bajoran space looking for "Changelings"! You can't Fucking do that!

And who is breaking what law here?

Stateless vessel. Operating without a registry means that you are under the protection of no nation and thus subject to search and seizure by any nation.
>Guyana
Pulled their registry months ago. That makes them also sailing under a false flag, which, again, makes them liable to search and seizure at any time.

I think sink them all and make a great barrier reef in the gulf.

Why are you so upset? Are you a Venezuelan apparitchiki?

They tried to run the blockade, anon. If the US was to let it go than others would attempt to break the blockade
>>
>>64663890
No, I was wondering why it had to stop. OP is either one of Maduro's henchmen or a Eurofaggot liberal. I can't quite tell.
>>
>>64663540
How isn't it boarded yet? Is Kegsbreath cucking out?
>>
i would put some ropes randomly hanging about in the case the helicopter gets too close and the ropes fly into its blades
>>
>>64663867
While tempting, I would direct you to the Exxon Valdez to suggest why that might be a bad idea.
>>
>>64663915
i'm not a fish, this doesn't affect me
>>
>>64663906
Either the chopper pilots or the boarding team. It's running flank speed, and that makes it a lot harder to do a fast rope without somebody getting the Blackburn experience. Safer to roll a destroyer up and ask the question from the end of a 5".
>>
>>64663407
If the helicopter is coming over from a nearby warship, if you can't stop the warship there's no point in stopping the helicopter.
>>
>>64663919
Too true, and I'm more interested in fucking Cuba than I am in "liberating" Venezuela's people, so the ecological harm to them doesn't much matter either. But you have to be strategic about these things. The peaceniks and fifth-columnists are already howling about this, the last thing we need is to create the biggest oil slick in the Caribbean since Deepwater Horizon and give them more ammunition, in addition to adding the treehuggers to the chorus of whiners.

>Miss Gretina Thunbergio Sanchez, this is a laser designator, US military GPS, an encrypted radio and we overheard you talking to someone named 'Orange Actual' who called you 'Secret Spud' and commented on your tits filling out

nice trips norktard, but you can watch things with planes and satellites too. I get the DPRK has a tedious relationship with flight, but other places don't.
>>
>>64663407
As a rule? No. The only defense is that every navy worth it's salt is shooting pirates on sight. If piracy is common the owners might hire some mercenaries who will mount and man .50 cals but that's expensive and the corpos who run global shipping companies want to keep costs Down.
>>64663453
This. Some corporate middle manager is going to have his quant guys compare the costs of getting ships hijacked and the costs of hiring mercenaries. There's a very good chance that the company just lets the ship get hijacked because it's cheaper than hiring security.
>>
This ship has no fucking oil! Please stop pirating and stealing ships! It is flying a neutral flag of peace and free trade!
>>
>>64664179
Sorry, you don't get to have boats if the boat/plane faction doesn't want you to.

It was mostly a joke post but i do think it would be a very smart idea for the West to coopt Greta and her followers now that the old generation of pro Soviet eco commies is dying.
The ecological threat caused by Russia and it's allies is a major long term threat to humanity and if you care about Gaza you should care about the shit Russia does, they droned Chernobyl not to mention the radioactive horrors created by the USSR. Just wanting to make a shitty copy of Project Pluto should have her wanting to suicide bombing Putin.

My Norktardness has brought the Kim Dynasties ecological and sustainability efforts to my attention and by extension made me somewhat Greta curious, i don't think i entirely disapprove of her. Just don't tell her how happy i am about the Norks working on a coal gasification based Diesel plant OK?

Additional: Physical intelligence still has a place, even in operations like this. A super tanker doesn't just shove off at a moments notice, a physical asset can learn that the ship is going to set out days or even weeks before remote sensor platforms can. Remote sensing can determine that it has left port but if you know beforehand that it is going to leave port that gives you time to position interdiction assets i.e you can move ships to intercept before it leaves port.

Satellites might have alerted the German High Seas Fleet the moment the British left Scapa Flow however it would be much more useful and actionable if they knew about it two weeks before they left.
