A few days ago, at a Christmas event, General Masiello, commander of the Italian Army, has announced that starting next year they will begin full adoption of the Beretta NARP assault rifle and of a new multi terrain camo that will replace both the standard Vegetata and the Vegecam used by special forces. Camos and rifle are already issued to a few elite units, and have been in testing since at least 2020This means that Italy follows the international trend of adopting an AR15 style rifle and a Multicam-like camo. Thoughts?
>>64664985For those who speak Italian here's the full presentation, rifle and uniforms are at minute 39. Other future procurements of the Italian Army are also talked abouthttps://www.youtube.com/live/M-ROurvDw7E
not a huge surprise. the ARX was kinda mid
>>64664985This is a clearer comparison of the Current Vegetata (on the left, worn by Masiello himself) and the new camo, on the right, worn by the commander of the 185 RRAO recon regiment, one of the units already equipped wuth the new uniforms
>>64664995Yeah, my understanding is that the ARX was something that Beretta lobbied for and the army sort of begrudgingly accepted, but they never really fell in love for it. It's pretty telling that despite being in service for almost 17 years now it still hasn't fully replaced the AR70/90 in service. Supposedly the NARP was developed in much closer collaboration with the Army, which may be why special forces are also abopting it (they previously refused to touch the ARX with a 10 feet pole)
>>64664985The Beretta APX was also adopted as a new standard sidearm, but its full adoption might be on the slower side since the Army still has a lot of beretta 92s in inventory that they still deem adequate for service
Other that the Italian army, The NARP was also recently adopted by the French GIGN in 6.5 grendel of all calibers, and it's competing to become the new UK's service rifle

>>64664999Best thing I can say about the new camo is that at least is not a straight up multicam clone. Vegetata is still a much better looking camo though, and it's sad to see it go...
>>64665045seriously what is with the gign being so awkwardly behind the meta? they adopt brens in 7.62x39 right as 300blk takes off and now 6.5 grendel after everyone has thouroughly stopped caring about it.inb4 their next sidearm is in .30SC
>>64664999The old uniform was fine....
>>64664985Looks like the NARP is no more. It is now called the “Praetorian”. Makes sense. 18 years is about how long they do it. AR70/90 1990-2008. ARX160 2008-2026.
>>64665194Nobody copies the French, and France copies no one. This is a genuine procurement doctrine of theres, to the point even vehicle paint schemes have to be an oh so unique shade compared to any other major Nato Power
So is this a piston AR like estonia’s LMT, or the Franco-Prussian HK416? Or even an MCX? Or is it different internally? Because besides the bolt face, the ARX100 is really strange internally and isn’t at all similar to an AR 15 or 18. Is this an ARX action in an AR15 profile gun? I did a quick search and can’t find a single disassembly video or photo. To be honest if the weight comes in close to 7lbs, I’d take this over an MCX every time. No Indian MIM parts and Beretta barrels are just superb.
>>64665203Multicam works better on the Russian steppes. Europe is also reevaluating how they handle defense, its way less about the Russians invading their country and more about being able to send forces into Eastern Europe as we now know that even the Baltic nations could hold off Russia for weeks which is plenty of time for European reinforcements.
>>64665689>even the Baltic nations could hold off Russia for weeksI really doubt that. The Baltics have significantly less soldiers and less land than Ukraine. I'm sure Russia could have taken each Baltic capital in 2022.
>>64665226>Looks like the NARP is no more. It is now called the “Praetorian”.I thought that was just the name given to the GIGN variant. On Beretta's website and pretty much everywhere else it's still called NARP>>64665680It's a short-stroke piston AR, which is why it can have a folding stock. I don't think it shares anything with the ARX, which is good, as the fish gun was a bit weird as you pointed out
>>64665710Russia has already proven that a determined defensive reaction will take care of their incompetent highways of death they set up for themselves. You're also likely going to see significant mining in the Baltics Russia starts moving forces into offensive positions.
>>64665717>significant mining in the BalticsThat doesn't matter against a force that doesn't care about causalities.
>>64664985Looks good. I'd be more inclined to get the NARP here in the states over the MCX. Beretta can drop the ball on QC sometimes but at least I'd be getting a chrome lined barrel and probably the whole gun for a more reasonable price, although I bet it'll still be retarded expensive for no reason. If they keep it light then it'll be worth trying. As an aside, I'm really shocked Beretta doesn't sell some kind of budget AR here in the US in some capacity. I feel like it would make sense for them to try and compete with the S&W ARs or something
