Will the M4 be used on Mars?

Is there a reason why I love the look of the M4s particularly? Is there really anything that stands out about them beyond the fact they're just a dozenth carbine variant of the M16? I feel like my appreciation for the M16 is similar but not quite the same

The block 02 SOPMOD M4A1 is the best performing and most aesthetic AR-15 ever devised but the conventional M4A1 is a close second

Love my Soppo. I used to not like AR's in general, but this build really taught me to appreciate the platform, and I didn't even do anything crazy with it besides SBRing it.
As far as wanting a regular M4 clone, is the PSA M4 worth a shit, or should I just build one from scratch? I've never once bought anything from PSA so I'm unsure if the build quality really is that shit or if its over exaggerated.

The PSA M4s all seem to have a nitride treated barrel. If you want to cloooone i would at least go with a phosphate coated barrel. Nitride just doesn't look right on gwot guns
>>
>>64665885
You know what, that's fair. Just taking a cursory glance at M4s for sale online, its not Toooooo much more expensive to just raw dog it and build one out. Definitely pricier, but not ridiculously so. Might as well go all in and do it right.

If you want an M4gery there is no reason not to build one. The parts aren't even that expensive so it's always bewildering to me when guys just cheap out and get a PSA or something. Check thoroughbred, they usually have everything you need for an M4gery for a reasonable price. I believe that DSA is selling KAC RASs rn as well for a decent price, but shop around because that's just off the top of my head. I managed to accidentally cobble together a full Colt M4gery upper by accident a few months ago, it's a fun gun to play around with so I highly recommend it

Honestly this is my first time really considering it, but it looks like you're definitely right. Doesn't look like its any sort of complicated to source the parts. I'll check those sites and start getting a parts list together. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

No problem anon, always willing to help someone who wants to do it right. You can definitely get into turbo autism about the upper receiver having a cage code or dogbone on it. I'd say definitely just try to get one of those contract overrun ones with the dry film coating because they usually look more correct than the super slick black anodizing other places do. You can probably reasonably run any normal BCG and a CH isn't hard to nab. Good luck

Hot damn, Thoroughbred will just straight up sell me the upper, and DSA has the RAS.

Could throw these together on my SBR'd lower for now until I source a new lower and get the paperwork done on it. So this is looking pretty feasible. I think I know what I'm gonna blow my holiday pay on lol.
Thanks again, Anon. Having a real M4 clone is gonna be such a cool addition to the collection.

maybe. although probably with a different cartridge and a shitload of fins or water cooled trying to dissipate heat.

Counterpoint- buy one of these instead: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1142584540

These kinda get slept on, but Remington along with Colt, FN, and DD were all licensed contractors to provide M4 carbines for FMS. When Remington went tits up, the old stock was sold off and has been getting sold on GB for the past few years. Remington isn’t as sexy as the other three when it comes to name, but it’s all US government TDP so quality really isn’t that different from make to make. I have one of these and it’s perfectly fine. Throw down ~$400 for the upper and $100 for a PSA Sabre/Expo Arms KAC rail knock off and you’re in for less money than the Colt upper with no BCG/CH

Seconded. If I was looking for an AR I'd get this

Off topic but doesn't the Philippines use Remington m4s?
>>
>>64665789
Jesus christ its like you faggots dont know a weapon even exists until Ian does a video or it shows up in some gas ass game like COD.
>>
>>64668539
Correct. I’m not sure if those uppers I posted are, but when I bought my upper from that same seller on GB a few years back, my barrel was actually marked “AFP” for Armed Forces of Philippines. Which is neat since that makes it modern day milsurp.

Damn that's a good ass deal, been wanting a 14,5 for an sbr build that wasn't overly expensive like FN

There are probably a lot of these flooding onto the market now that they're out of business, I'd assume.
