Why do modern soldiers get PTSDs from killing sandcoons using drones from 40303 miles away safe and with air conditioning when soldiers 2000 years ago rejoicide at the chance of slaughtering the local populance with impunity?
its really hard to write down "I was scared and have nightmares about war" when you are both illiterate and writing on dirt tablets. next time ask grok, retard.
>>64666284I’ll list my suspicions. For one yes in fact PTSD was a real thing back then too. Usually it’d be attributed to dudes being haunted by the people they killed or something, there’s old writings from knights about that in their journals. Another thing is life was just shittier back then so they had a higher threshold. Modern day people have probably become slightly more empathetic. Last one is old school battles there would be weeks of maneuvering prior to the lines meeting and the actual affair could be very uneventful for many soldiers, so soldiers had a long time to gas themselves up for the fight and know when it’s coming. The modern battlefield you’re constantly on edge knowing your head could just explode any minute

>>64666284Most PTSD is bullshit these days because1) Pussies tried to normalize it for their own political reasons and "destigmatize" it. Thus claiming PTSD isn't discouraged systematically within the military as it once was. There is no pathology by which PTSD can be identified which cannot be faked or is their some high standard imposed upon the claimants.2) Due to the government doing nothing worthy of loyalty it receives none in turn. Combine that with darkies and women using it is a gibs program and white men who do all the fighting have no reason not to claim everything they can to squeeze as much money out of the system as possible. And if you are getting money for it you can just tell your buddies you are lying and they will also laugh at the government for giving you money. There is no social pressure not to lie.3) Its not even Post Traumatic, its just stress which causes problems. If you are constantly on edge while waiting for action it does fuck with your brain chemistry which causes lethargy when you aren't under stress anymore. Hence why the phenomena became more apparent after WW1.4) Actual brain injuries can cause similar symptoms as those attributed to PTSD, and on the modern battlefield repeated brain injury is more likely even just from riding around.
>>64666284You're conflating PTSD with moral injury. You get PTSD from illegally invading a country on behalf of Israel and the banks and watching your friends die in front of you, but you get a moral injury from invading that country and killing children.
>>64666284>Why do modern soldiers get PTSDsThey don't. 95%+ of combat veterans don't suffer from PTSD. It's just a media meme propagated through movies and the like.
>>64666284People obviously had PTSD back then but life was hard. They were preoccupied living in the moment.A similar phenomenon on why a lot of complete shit hole countries rank happier populations than some first world.
>>64666284Becauase 90% of soldiers should never be soldiers. It has always been this way.
>>64666284On one hand PTSD did happen back then, but I reckon it was less prevalent for capita largely because not only is a pre-modern army less likely to actually come to blows with its opponent, but it also has larger periods to mentally prepare between engagements. It's much easier to fall into psychosis when the enemy can theoretically hit you from a hundred miles away from the front.
>>64666284We have records of PTSDs as far back as writing, I understand. Also the Romans were literally bug people with lead poison based brain damage.
>>64666284Shakespeare alludes to PTSD symptoms. Wtf are these fucking dice in the captcha how the fuck do you solve them?
>>64666284They did. All the time. There's plenty of historical accounts going back as far as you want about people having nightmares, becoming alcoholics, developing violent mood swings, and other clear symptoms of combat related PTSD. You just didn't hear about them because you're not dealing with serious works and are just reading/watching pulp content that deals with flashy stories. >>64666540>that dumbfuck "quote"Heraclitus never said anything remotely close to that. It's based on an 1980s, off-broadway play. Dave Grossman, the retard selling "warrior police" and "sheepdog" horseshit to cops, picked it up and slapped Heraclitus's name on it because nobody would give a fuck about some quote from a New York play. Like the rest of Grossman's bullshit, the idea behind the mangled "quote" has no basis in reality and SLA Marshall was an idiot.People have been more than willing to fight and fight hard since time immemorial.

War was fucking easy back then. Months of marching with your buds, maybe a couple of days of actual combat over a fighting season. Pretty easy on the nervous system compared to modern warfare.
>>646664761. Is my brother in law. Did 20 years in the Navy on boomers, has 100% disability rating for PTSD because "the knowledge that my boats nuclear arsenal could end the world caused me continuous mental anguish"
>>64666284>>64666344There is documentation about "war is... le bad" going back almost as far as there is writing, and the only reason it isn't as old as writing itself is because the first Babylonian texts can be put in one of three categories->20 bushels of grain, 14 lamb shanks, 30 jars of wine, 20 dried fish>If a Ghost is haunting a house, the priest must do [extremely precise ritual], but not if the ghost is also doing X, Y, or Z, in which case [3 other complex rituals], also don't forget to just slap a "immunity to all" spell on the house while you're at it>I AM KING KINGGREAT THE GREAT KING, I AM MIGHTY AND IMMORTAL AND ALL MY FOES HAVE BEEN CRUSHED I WILL RULE FOREVERand all of those texts are written by extremely educated members of the religious order, even the early kingly texts would have been written by scribes.I don't feel like looking up what the actual first documented "war is le bad" text is from, but the oldest that comes to mind that I already know of is by greekfag Aeschylus with his tragedy "The Persians" in 472 BCE.
